Given the club (apparently) didn't notify fans of the game against Lossie the other night but found time to talk up some company who cleaned gutters or something I don't think communicating with fans is ranking highly on their agenda right now.

Roberts was indeed a decent looking player but Hughes didn't seem to want to play him once he came back from injury. ICTChris has made a point in the past about how few players have been signed over recent years who actually improved the team. I don't think Foran really signed anyone who made our team better. Under Hughes perhaps Storey is the best example of player coming in to improve on what we had. You could maybe argue that between that Storey signing for us and Donaldson arriving we never signed a player that was really any better than what was already at the club

Unfortunately it's just a classic case of journalists not having a clue how the planning process works. An application for planning permission hasn't even been lodged yet the Courier claim approval has been given. It's obviously on the cards though so it will be interesting to see what comes forward now especially given that the Council wanted to develop the old landfill site as mixed use IIRC. Can't imagine too many businesses / offices wanting to site themselves next to a waste processing plant.

Depends if he was taking over a squad that needed pretty significant doing up. Hughes is a fantastic coach but as a manager I think he falls down on account of the fact he is extremely poor in the transfer market. I think Robbo is slightly better on that front whereas I would say Hughes would be better on the tactical side.

Based on his first couple of seasons - no. Based on his final season with us - possibly. I certainly don't think it was out of the question as some seem to think especially given how he has performed since then.

Well that's okay because I didn't mention about the styles of play under Hughes/Butcher. A bizarre comment to make. Hughes was in charge for about four months at Raith Rovers and won four games overseeing glorious moments like forgetting to sign a goalkeeper to play in goals when they had no one available and pissing off the entire dressing room by slagging the players off week in and week out. They were certainly not doomed as you say and were 12 points ahead of bottom placed Saint Mirren who overtook them to send Raith into the play offs. We all know of your all encompassing love for all things Hughes but the fact is you are never objective about anything concerning him as your post above shows yet again. To borrow your own wording, if you can't see the parallels between his tenures at Falkirk, Hibs, ICT and Raith Rovers then I can't help you. I don't disagree that Foran was a disaster, I've said that plenty of times on here before. Had he been sacked in January after the Accies thrashing we might still be in the top tier.

That penalty award

This has been a concern of mine (and others) from what I've seen this season. All too often we get the ball in a good attacking area but there seems to be a hesitancy to get moving forward. I wasn't there last night but on Saturday, and the other games this season, width came from Tremarco and Rooney whilst their team mates ahead of them tucked inside (Doran, Walsh, Polworth etc.) This meant, on Saturday, with Tremarco advanced and Doran tucked in ahead of him, Ayr had acres of space to batter a ball into our totally vacant left back area to launch a counter. Too often when we do get the ball we seem content to pass, move, pass move, and so on. No one seems willing to take their opponent on and try and beat them.

The stewards are utterly useless. They'll only do something if it is a very small group of fans for fear of other supporters getting involved.

I would guess, and I stress guess, that if the club have identified people that are known to them as having caused problems in the past then any ban might be of the longer variety but if they are first time offenders it might be a bit more lenient. Guess it completely depends on who is involved though

This was one of my earliest ICT memories and it involved Hercher. After going 2 - 0 up on Livi in the (Scottish?) Cup we were eventually pegged back to 3 - 2 but then, pretty much right from kick off, Hercher was played in and he stabbed home the winner

Didn't look like that to me. As IHE says it was a 442 / 4411 for most of the game. Polworth spent most of the game tucking inside which brutally exposed Rooney on a number of occasions and led to Mckay getting dragged out of the middle to cover when he (Rooney) was taken apart. Left side was more impressive with Tremarco and Walsh getting a lot more joy especially in the first half with the latter sending over a number of good crosses and setting up the goal. When Walsh went off for Welsh Chalmers was moved to left midfield and Welsh slotted into the centre with Trafford. Austin and Oakley played as a two up front with Oakley often dropping slightly deeper to challenge for high balls. We got very lucky today. Despite a good start we regressed more and more as the game wore on. Falkirk really came to dominate things as the match wore on but more often than not they ran out of ideas as they got closer to our goal. Walsh, as mentioned above, started well down the left and he set up the opener with a ball across the box sent in from the left and Oakley found a bit of space to divert the ball back across goal and into the net. We should have killed the game off when Austin found himself with a free run on goal after a defensive mix up but he never looked like he would score and he was smothered by the onrushing Falkirk keeper. Falkirk thought they pulled level when a high free kick was headed beyond Ridgers but after a loooong delay, and with the players about to take the kick off, it was suddenly pulled back. I've no idea why the Falkirk goal was chopped off but I'm guessing it was a foul on one of Rooney, Donaldson or Mckay as they all ended up in a heap when the ball was floated in. The referee hadn't given anything but it seemed the linesman was the one who saw something wrong. Following on from that we resorted to brutal route one football with aimless hoofs up the park for Oakley and later White to try and chase. Bizarrely we even seemed to be targeting Mckay with these long balls rather than White and these high balls were easily mopped up by the defenders. The one occasion we did get the ball down and pass it around we looked good. Chalmers, Welsh and Trafford quickly played the ball around 3 or 4 home players who were left chasing shadows so it was disappointing that we seemed to lack the composure to do this more often though perhaps that was more to Falkirk closing us down a lot better in the second half than the first. Falkirk look exactly what we were like this time last season, a team clearly lacking cohesion due to so many new faces so we definitely got them at a good time. Whilst it's a very encouraging result I think we need to be cautious given how poor we were in the second half. Donaldson, Tremarco, Walsh and Oakley were probably my picks from today. Donaldson was excellent at the back although there were a couple of lapses on occasions. Tremarco and Walsh linked well down the left and the latter offered good defensive cover as well. Oakley was a handful up front but faded as the game went on.

Neither Doran or Polworth have really been playing wide. Our only width comes from Tremarco or Rooney.

If people want to have a curry and some cheap pisswater beer then head to Auctioneers on a Saturday afternoon. If you want a bouncy castle and face painting go to a party. A lot of this stuff seems to be dancing around the issue at hand which, in the most succinct way, is simply a lot of fans have stopped enjoying going to games because the team don't win as many games.

I doubt that having some noodles on offer at half time was going to keep pulling in the crowds up during our shocking run of form under Foran in 16/17.

I think the club could do worse than reach out to current and former season ticket holders by means of some sort of survey to get opinions on what they like / don't like about going to games at TCS, why some folk didn't renew and so on. There could well be data issues here I don't know but it seems like an obvious thing to do if there aren't any barriers to it. At the end of the day the best way to get folk along to TCS is to get a successful team on the pitch that wins games regularly.
