  1. That is a horrific speed. Why don't you complain about it?
  2. What type of router do you have?
  3. I forgot all about this thread. Are you being pedantic? If so, then The Scottish Executive give various grants, funds and incentives to Johnson & Johnson (they own Lifescan). The incentives are to keep them in the area as they are a big employer. Like I've said though, the moment the incentives dry up and disappear then Lifescan will up sticks and move to somewhere that will offer more incentives.
  4. Currently use Xbox 360. Best of all time? I'll go for PSOne. Original Tomb Raider, Jonah Lomu Rugby, Duke Nukem, Gran Turismo - just so many great games.
  5. You had an 800Mbps download rate - in Dornoch?... Was that a typo or are you being serious, because I find that difficult to believe?
  6. You will never ever get a download speed to match your Sync rate. Sorry but that's just the way it is until we're all on unthrottled Fibre connections. There are way too many variables to consider. To get the fastest speed test result possible, try running it between midnight and 6am.
  7. So you're getting a 7.1Mbps service delivered to your door and getting as far as your router. That's pretty good really. I wouldn't say you're losing much speed. There will of course be latency issues on how you're connecting to your router but that's to be expected - especially if you are connecting via 802.11g Wi-Fi.
  8. Log in to your router using the IP Address (for example mine is 192.168.0.1) The first screen you see is usually a status screen. This screen should have your Sync rate (might be separated out into a Downstream and Upstream rate).
  9. If you live in Cradlehall your exchange is the Culloden Exchange next to Harry Gow. Secondly, what speed you are being serviced with and what download rates you get are two completely different kettles of fish. Check your Sync rate on your router for the speed delivered to your house.
  10. Firefox on my computers and Fennec on my Touch HD.
  11. The important thing to understand here is that there's a big difference between a megabyte (MB) and a megabit (Mb). Internet speeds are usually measured in bits to make them sound better - so remember there are 8 bits in a byte... Edit to include a speed test result from work... Note how the speed is measured... At the above speed I can download a 5MB MP3 in 8 seconds, a 35MB video clip in 50 seconds and an 800MB movie in 19mins.
  12. So what are "Airdrie Utd" doing in the First Division then?
  13. Interesting that you keep saying "C'mon the diamonds" when the diamonds died a death a long time ago. Coatbridge United are just plastic diamonds punching above their level at the moment. I mean lets face the facts here, had Livingston not been relegated to the 3rd, you would be playing in the sea-side leagues, would you not?
  14. Allow me to put this in a manner you are likely accustomed... "Yoor patters pyoor pish, man."
  15. Anyone here got any experience of using either Blackberry Enterprise Server or Blackberry Professional Software?
  16. I've heard bad things about HTC's running WinMo < 6.1 (something to do with the TouchFlo interface) but mine is brilliant. In fact there are only two things I don't like about my phone - the battery life (especially if I use the WiFi) and the lack of a flash on the camera. Other than that my phone is perfect. Different kettle of fish - in fact I'm pretty confident he could have had a better phone than mine if he found the right ROM for it. I'm locked down to the Orange ROM on mine - as it works perfectly I'm reluctant to change it.
  17. Of course it won't run Messenger natively because Messenger is written for Windows. Linux is a completely different platform, hence the need for WinE. If you're wanting to access your MSN account on something that runs natively on Ubuntu, I suggest you try Pidgin. I can honestly say I have never waited longer than 10mins for the download and install of updates on any Linux installation so I suggest you blame your broadband connection before you blame the operating system.
  18. Explain yourself!
  19. It is not impossible to lick your elbow. If you were to dislocate your shoulder, it's not only possible, but easy. Everyone knows why a ducks quack doesn't echo, the reason is Ross Tokely. Ethernet used to be a trademark of Xerox and Unix is a registered trademark of The Open Group. The first man-made element was not Plutonium it was Technetium in 1939, 3 years before enough Plutonium was isolated to study it. Plutonium isn't even man-made! While I'm sure many of the facts are... well... fact, given some of the corrections I've made I think there are many more in there that are not true at all.
  20. I used to have a Blackberry Pearl 8100 - I thought it was great for the first while of having it but quickly grew to be quite disappointed with it's limited functionality. I now have an HTC Touch HD and it is easily the best phone I have ever owned. Even better is the undeniable fact that it hoses all over the latest iPhone from a great height. (HTC are the daddies of the smartphone industry).
  21. Presumably this is just for backup purposes for your already, legally acquired episodes of The Sopranos, yes? Which Nero? As well as having different version numbers, there are different types of Nero; Express, StartSmart, Burning ROM etc... By far the best for doing anything with is Burning ROM.
  22. England will not win the World Cup. A full strength Netherlands team would absolutely destroy England if they were to meet.
  23. Can't see that being true as he signed a contract at the start of the season. He'll do for covering Golly (Are we allowed to say this now after all that went on?) and Shinnie.
  24. What did you do to get it working again? It might be worth considering an investment in a new slimline drive...
  25. Gamercards you say? How's this?
