We had no heart on Saturday. We were four nil down at one point and didn't seem to show any urgency. I thought the positives were Draper, Pepper and Esson. Of course people are going to mention Tokley, Munro and Duncan because at least they always showed heart. We were appalling in defence. Having watched the highlights of the game on the BBC website (I was there too) King was pretty poor. Given our recent luck with Butcher's signings for some of the boys on the pitch on Saturday the only consequence of losing that game is that they won't earn a move away with that performance. We never used to conceed four goals against the Old Firm at home. I feel that McKay should not be playing up front by himself. He is a player who I admire because he does seem to care, you could see that at Tynecastle. Maybe we should be looking to play Sutherland up there with him or give Oswell a chance. Its clear Sutherland is not the next Johnny Hayes and I hope Butcher realizes this instead of consistently playing the young man in a position that doesnt suit him, all it will do is harm is confidence. As I said on the other thread I think we should be looking to give the likes of Polworth, Laing and Cooper the chance to play against Arbroath. I also feel Pepper has merited a start. I am starting to feel pretty disillusioned with the team. On Saturday it reminded me of the end of the Brewster days a bit. I'm sure I will be accused of being dramatic but at least I'm being honest. I will be furious if we lose against Arbroath. I am not underestimating them as I know they are a quality side with a manager I would gladly see at ICT but I feel a good cup run will give us something to be positive about. Let’s face it we haven't had much in the past year and a half.

Its a shame. I think we'll miss him. Quality player who I would have starting every week. Wishing him a speedy recovery.

I'd be keen so see the likes of Laing, Morrison and Cooper be given a chance given how awful the older lads were yesterday. We need to win this tie. Our record in cups under Butcher has been appauling.

Having just watched the post match interviews I think the Youtube channel is a great idea because it gives fans a better thance to get to know the players. Particularly as we have had a high player turnover.

For purely selfish reasons I am quite happy about this as I am more likley to make the trip from Aberdeen (back at uni then). I can understand other people being annoyed.

Sutherland on the wing again and the only change being Foran for Jones

A good striker can be the difference between the top 6 and bottom 6 and score goals which make games more entertaining. This equals bums on seats.

If you are going to spam at least use the Queens English!

Whats the solution? What are you going to do?

I think there are a number or reasons the crowd was so grim on Saturday that have already been mentioned on here. Like it or not some people will have been greatly turned off by the way that some players have left the club in the past two seasons. This combined with a shocking turnover of players in recent times. The football on offer at home has not been great recently. Football is expensive and we are in a recession. I think that some of the ideas that have been mentioned in this thread are great, particularly offering more free tickets to youth clubs and schools. The club could try hard to make these kids feel like they are being treated like VIPs when they come to the ground. Just a thought but if there is any spare room in the stadium could it be used as some sort of youth club/space for kids one night a week. I'm sure that the SPL had an initiative where people could use space in stadiums for things like band practices. I know many continental clubs and smaller clubs in Scotland really try and push the social side of the team. The more someone is around the club the more they will care about it. -
He doesn't deserve a call up in my opinion. He could have furthered his career someone else instead he has gone to the Third Division for a pay day. I'm sure there are SPL players in that position that are even more deserving of a call up.

I have no idea to be honest. I only saw the team once in pre-season and judging from the highlights of last weeks game we were unlucky not to get three points. After today I'll make my mind up but I would love some sort of cup run. It would generate money for the club and give the fans something to get behind.

I wasn't at the game but I have seen the highlights. I would rather we pushed forward and passed at the risk of conceeding the odd goal. If we continue to play attacking football we could be in for some entertaining games this season.

That is one video I definitely won't be watching. Let me sum up the video. Lawell and Doncaster walking and saying nothing when asked a question. Chilling stuff!
-
I thought that might be the case but didn't want to jump to a conclusion I wasn't 100 percent sure of. I think that is utterly wrong but I'm sure I've ranted about this before.

Hopefully the powers that be at the SPL realise that they can't have all their eggs in one basket. A league reliant on one fixture or two teams participating is asking for trouble because if one falls, the rest will suffer. I shudder to think that our previous deal was based on 4 Old Firm games a season which implies that the league could be rigged to avoid a breach of contract. As far as I know this has never been confirmed, neither has the intention of any broadcaster to pull out of a deal. I'm of the opinion that SKY/ESPN got the SPL for a steal after the Setanta deal collapsed. Anything less than what we are currantly getting is unacceptable, as is anything that comprimises possible league reconstruction which our club seem to be in favour of. A stronger league is in SKY/ESPN's interest. People will tune in to watch competitive football where teams are playing for something. The Football League play-offs are testiment to that. I read a quote from someone the other month (forgive me I forget who) that said something along the lines of "look after the sport and the money will follow". I think that sums up the situation perfectly. I'm sure Kenny will look out for the interests of ICT and the league, after all we've worked hard to get here.

I think another valid point is that fans have only had one home pre-season friendly against opposition similar to what we would face in the SPL (Coventry City). The rest of our games have been against lower league teams away from home. While these games are designed to get players fit they are a poor indication of how a team will play week in week out. We go into our first game against St Mirren with a new squad. We don't know how they will play or even who will play. Perhaps people are waiting for an indication of how we play based on our first match? If the first half of the season goes well there is a chance of a greater uptake of half season tickets. I know that they are less lucritive for the club but if we are on a good run the club has a good chance to market these as Christmas presents.

When the club used Ticketmaster to sell tickets it was a rather frustrating experiance. First the girl on the phone at the call centre (a Yorkshire lass) tried to charge me full price for a season ticket because I was allegidly 23 (I think I was 20 at the time and she had my date of birth). I was then told to buy it from the club and was said something along the lines of "it's a small club". I think I know the size of my team. What made me laugh was she ended the call with "Thank you for calling Inverness Caledonian Thistle". At least the girls in the club shop are nice. I was able to renew my ticket no bother with them over the phone.

http://sport.stv.tv/..._medium=twitter Kenny Cameron along with Duncan Fraser of Aberdeen, Peter Lawell of Celtic and Neil Doncaster of the SPL are part of the team re-negotiating the SPL TV deals. With little known of the broadcaster's position, how do people think this will pan out? Does the supposed presence of our chairman in the group put people at ease? Do you think he will be a voice for the smaller clubs and us as fans? It is not known if he is down south with Lawell and Doncaster (pictured in the video)

Over a third of our squad are home grown. While that is true. It is difficult to deny that there has been a huge turnover over the past few seasons. Most of Butcher's signings have been from the English lower leagues and a lot of them have not stayed long enough to make a real impression on fans or have simply not been good enough. We seem to have gone from one extreme to another in terms of having a cluster of players who stayed with us long enough to earn testimonials to having players that stay a season or less in the case of some loan signings.

I wrote to the club about the newco situation and renewed my season ticket shortly after the club announced their stance. I wouldn't like to have not putting my money where my mouth was on my conscience. I know that I will struggle to get to enough games to justify it this year (although I will try) due to being away at uni and working most weekends. Last week I was speaking to someone who had a season ticket from the beginning who had not renewed due to the direction he felt the club had gone. My personal thoughts are that you need to give fans something to get behind. Be it a player, a cup run, attractive football etc. We have been terrible in the cups since joining the SPL. Granted being drawn against Celtic in a number of competitions does not help but trips to Hampden or even quarter finals are a great occasion for fans. Success like this builds a buzz around the club. I was lucky enough to be at the Scottish Cup semi against Dunfermline in 2004. It was the start of my love affair with the club. Enough has been said about the style of football being played. Teams like St Mirren and Killie played decent football last season, why can't we? We were lucky enough to have a team sheet full of players who had been at the club a while. Who our support recognised and could identify with. Now we seem to be filling our squads with players who nobody had heard of and fans can not identy with. These players do not stay long. Other teams in the SPL at a similar level to us are finding players from the lower leagues in Scotland who I refuse to believe are damanding higher wages than our boys from accross the border. Am I right in saying Mackay-Steven was on about £200 a week at Airdrie? How are fans supposed to care about a team when the squad changes nearly every season? It wouldn't be fair to write off Butcher's signings this summer as they have not played a competitive game yet. I do wonder what we will be saying in a few months time. I fear the way the club are doing things at the moment could create a downward spiral. The positive seems to be the youth coming through. Heres hoping they can put in good performances and inspire people to come back or just as importantly stick around.

I was actually quite impressed with Brechin today. They seemed to be able to mount reasonable attacks. I think what we need to remember is that most teams in Scotland do not have big squads anymore as a result you get some decent players down the leagues. Quite a few of Brechin's team had SPL experiance I believe.
-
Does anyone else object to being called a bigot by Charles Green when "The Rangers" fans spent most of the game spouting bile? It was perfectly summed up when the camera cut to a rough looking girl in the Rangers end making an obscene hand justure. If I were Brechin I would give the away section a good hosing after that game.

From what I remember he didn't really play much for us. It was a bit pointless him even coming up north. Good luck next season.
-
I'm sure I saw him use a nasty four letter word to discribe Catholics on Facebook which would indicate who his big team was. 18 years is actually quite a while. Thats long enough for him to have a child and have the child grow up, realise his dad is a sad pathetic and bitter old man and decide that they don't want anything to do with him like the rest of his family probably do.
