With that kind of injury, it is always a possibility. I am sure the specialist will have given him a worst case scenario and that would be it, whereas Butcher is maybe being overly optimistic .... but then again, TB knows the player far better than the specialist does, and perhaps knows his strength of character and determination better too .... How often have we seen people (not just footballers) confound the so-called medical experts by coming back from various types of injuries to walk again, or to do whatever it is they've been told they will never do. I firmly believe a lot of it is down to the determination and effort of the patient and if he has the strength of character to push on, then many things are possible ..... Will definitely be checking in on that blog frequently to see how he is progressing and hope the path to recovery is not littered with too many setbacks.

I agree with you, but what I do not understand is why it has not happened ..... The excuse trotted out by the players union and the SFA/SPL seems to be that they can do nothing as its an internal matter until someone actually complains officially .... that makes me ask two questions 1. Why has no-one complained officially ? If my employer didnt pay me on time, I would be chapping the boss' door straight away and asking some difficult questions. If the answers werent good enough, I would then be going further up the food chain until I got an answer .... If that ends up going nowhere then its lawyer time, and if applicable, getting onto my union and/or the governing body to get it sorted. 2. When does it reach a point where the league will act ? The players should not be subjected to this, and the bodies governing our league should be applying pressure on the employer to resolve it not sitting back and watching it unfold. Makes it even worse that it is happening at one of the most expensive times of the year with Xmas coming up.

It's a penalty because of where the foul took place, not how serious it was. good point well presented...but do you get the point of my confusion...if it is a pen then surely it should at least accompany a yellow not really .... does every single foul that the ref blows for - and awards a free kick - result in a card? A penalty is just a foul inside the box.

and you know the answer that will be given .... one or other of the OF have to do it every week, usually to an away venue !!! Its of the same ilk as our reaction to sides complaining about travelling up the A9 a couple of times a season .... most televised games for us are at home, against the OF so to get a single one away is a pain in the @rse, but not exactly a frequent occurence ...... just think of poor Scarlet, a 12 noon kick off for you is 7am for me but 4am for him
