  1. Dont think so ..... after the last two I would say we are (almost) all guilty of thinking it should never have been given, and that it should be rescinded, but we are equally as pessimistic that the outcome this time will be the same as the last. In my case, I think they will lump insult onto injury and also nail TB and Jonny Hayes ! Worst part is that the damage is done. The game ended there and then as a contest, and no matter what the decision of the appeal is we will never change the final result. Celtic may well have gone on to win had it remained at 11-v-11 but we will never know thanks to Mr O'Reilly
  2. was reading the Sun article about Jonny Hayes ... and this picture shows that Samaras' elbow got a damn sight closer to GT than his did to Samaras ! http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/sport/3948134/Caley-Thistle-star-in-twitter-rap.html
  3. OK, so here is my prediction !!!! Tansey's card will not be rescinded despite the fact that the refereee booked him for violent conduct, i.e. elbowing Samaras. He will instead have it reduced to serious foul play for leading with his "lethal fingernails" and the red will stand but for the lesser offence meaning a 1 match ban instead of 3! He will be told to report to a manicurist during our next game and must wear gloves for the rest of the season. Terry will get fined for telling the truth for the umpteenth time this season. He will overhear the folk in charge saying "see how you like this one Skippy !!! Kangaroo f****** court indeed !". Jonny will get reprimanded or maybe a small fine for engaging in banter during his personal free time. He will also be told to wear welders gloves for the rest of the season so his tweets become as nonsensical as the decisions of the officials. or in other words ... a three pronged injustice !
  4. Having now had the time to watch the footage, and also look at it frame by frame as it was being processed, there are some definite talking points in there. 1. Tansey's card was a complete crock of ****. Terry's analysis of "assault by fingernail" is very accurate and GT's elbow goes nowhere near Samaras. To be (slightly) fairer to Samaras than some have been, he did get contact from GT that may have merited some reaction from the player, but the dying swan reaction was OTT to say the least. Was it a booking and a free-kick? perhaps. Was it a red card, no way !!! The ref can also be seen clearly indicating the elbow motion as his red card decision, and as the elbow gets nowhere near the player's face then surely it is cut and dried as being the wrong decision. 2. Seconds prior to that Meekings was hauled to the ground by Stokes in a tussle that should have merited an ICT free-kick. No card needed, but the Celtic player did lay hands on him and pull him down. If that was given, the events of barely 2 seconds later would not have happened !!!! 3. Both goals were very close to being offside !!! Depending on how you view them you could easily make a case for the first one, and the players themselves are appealing loudly on the second one Personally, I do not think it is an OF bias, and I dont think the refs are corrupt as some have suggested on here and on other sites .... I think in this case, the referee is simply incompetent and should not be employed at this level. The commentary team on the radio during the game, and pundits after the game have all been able to list numerous decisions in different games to back up this theory and we are just one more team to add to the list. I do however take issue with the idea that's floating around Twitter and Facebook right now that both Terry Butcher and Jonny Hayes may be in trouble with the SPL for comments made in the aftermath. Terry on the radio, and Jonny on Twitter. If they do, then thats another crock of ****. I heard Terry's interview but didnt see what JH tweeted until now (something about clipping Tansey's fingernails cos they are lethal? or was it the 14 man Celtic comment?) ... Terry's interview was clearly that of an angry man who was trying his best not to overstep the mark but what can you say in the face of such incompetence ! I thought he did very well and didnt say anything that would get him into trouble .... As for Jonny's tweets ? just banter, nothing I can see to get worked up about ... they did use all 3 subs after all !!! Hopefully the SPL can put their efforts where they are most needed and get the refereeing sorted out. It is spoiling the game and something has to be done. Apart from anything else, the notion that the referee's report and its contents are like a tablet handed down to Moses and therefore gospel regardless of what actually happened, and what can be proved to have happened is totally and utterly wrong. Referees make mistakes, and maybe 1 in 10 (a generous figure) is prepared to say that .... The rest hide behind their reports and get away with rampant incompetency every week. Maybe its time for "performance related pay" for officials? ..... you get 50% of your fee for reffing the game, and you get the other 50% if you dont make yourself the most important player on the park or the subject of all the after match discussions ... maybe hitting these tosspots in the wallet, the same way as we hit clubs or players for indiscretions or bad behaviour is only fitting ...... ?
  5. The link to the picture in Tansey's Twitter posting doesnt seem to be working any more ... so here it is Red Card ? Really ? or should that be O'Reilly ?
  6. Like racism, I am sure Sepp Blatter probably thinks sectarianism can be sorted out with a handshake !!
  7. Terry interviewed on beeb right now .... not mincing his words !!! "assault by fingernail" !!!!! referee also refusing to speak to Terry or Mo !!!

  9. Radio team are using diplomatic radio speak to basically say "Stevie O'Reilly is a card happy and absolutely crap referee" rather than a cheating scumbag w***** ... either way, for yet another game we go down a player in dodgy circumstances and will be lucky to get anything from the game.

  14. I don't have a problem with them getting to the SPL. If they continue playing like they are, and are top of the table at the end of the season then they will have thoroughly deserved it. My curiosity was just peaked when the answer seemed so blasé .... "we'll bung a few seats in, it wont take long, and we'll be good to go !" when we all know from the Caley Thistle experience that its a whole lot more complicated (and expensive) than that to get it done ... and once in the top league of your country, the UEFA Club licensing steps up a notch in terms of what you need to have within the stadium and what standard it has to be up to. Guess if their chairman isn't worried, then it must be ok ... Not sure about the design for the new hospitality boxes though !!!!!
  15. history, repeats, itself
  16. Scotty replied to Yngwie's topic in Caley Thistle
nope, not mods only ...... admin can join in too !
  17. Was reading an interview on the Beeb today .... which was posted a few days ago, and in it Roy MacGregor said that all they need at Viccy Park to make it to the SPL if they win SFL1 is to add more seats ..... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/15744488.stm "We need to to put another 2500 seats in at the away end terracing and to alter the jail end terracing. It is not a big job. It will not be difficult. It would take 10-12 weeks to bring it up to 6500 seats if we did it. Everything else complies in the stadium, like the floodlights and everything else, to the criteria, but we don't have enough seats." This made me wonder when they added things like under-soil heating, when the power of the floodlights was brought up to SPL standards and whether or not they have all their ducks in a row regarding club licensing ? Its not meant to be a County-bashing thread, I genuinely wonder these things as I cant remember them being talked about, especially USH when all those games were being postponed in the last couple of seasons. Even if those are all in place, I think he may be underestimating the task of upgrading a ground with a seating capacity of 2590 to 6000+
  18. Scotty replied to Yngwie's topic in Caley Thistle
There was a symbol/logo used for the Winter Olympics in Vancouver last year to encourage Canadian athletes to do well ..... and I think it is fitting here too, given we have used this phrase ourselves over the years ! FWIW - I do believe !!! I believe it will continue to be a long hard season, and we will continue to struggle, but in the end, I also believe we will stay up and live to fight another day (season) in the SPL ! As an ICT fan, I have to believe that, despite much contrasting evidence at the moment !
  19. Maybe a Friday Highland Derby in the SPL next year?
  20. [email protected] will get you an accurate answer ...... my guess - you missed a cutoff date/time for posting which is usually a few days before a game.
  21. Its back ......... SFL sent this out the other day "Dear All, Following close cooperation and consultation with Strathclyde Police and both clubs, the SFL are delighted to announce the next Friday Night Football match after the success of the first match at Firhill Stadium earlier in the season. The IRN-BRU Scottish Football League First Division match between Hamilton Academical and Partick Thistle will now take place on Friday 13th January 2012, kick-off 7.45 p.m at New Douglas Park, Hamilton. The game was originally scheduled for Saturday 14th January, 2012."
  22. Full Article here: http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/football/spl/2011/11/15/terry-butcher-i-considered-offering-paul-gascoigne-a-coaching-role-at-inverness-ct-86908-23562988/ I would tend to agree with that statement, but I fear the mental and physical damage is already done and he is far too far along to get back on the straight and narrow. Even Butcher seems to acknowledge that as he says he considered offering him a role but then rejected it (reluctantly it would seem). Gazza was a great player but like many great players, flawed. In his case, I think he was too easily led astray by strong characters around him (both professionally and personally) throughout his career (and after), and didnt have any self control. In football terms, his appointment in any role, and at pretty much any club, would probably be seen as a joke ! It would become a circus, a distraction as everyone would be waiting for him to **** it up again ! Off the field, I have heard it said many times that he is/was a genuine down to earth guy and one who would not do you wrong if he could do you right. His heart always seemed to be in the right place, even if his over exuberance on occasions led to him getting in trouble (thinking the flute episode and the carding the ref incident) Reading that article, it is obvious that Terry knows him extremely well from Rangers and England, and knows about his good points, but is literally shaking his head at how sad his life has now become. If anyone could be a strong role model for him that he would respect and listen to it might be Terry, if any area of the country might calm him down or allow him to relax it might be the Highlands .... but it would be a hell of a risk and something that might end with more than just Gazza's tears !
  23. The author lives in that neck of the woods these days .... definitely worth a bid if you dont have it because it will be just as difficult to locate in years to come as an original version of Against All Odds !
  24. Even allowing he only played for 4 seasons for rangers , hardly hall of fame material ! Given that he was also Manager of Motherwell, Manager of ICT, and Assistant Manager for the National Team, he has spent more time in Scotland than some of the players who might eventually make it into the hall of fame on the number of caps received !!! PS: Inductees are picked each year by fans and a committee selects the eight finalists who are inducted at an annual dinner.
  25. Not sure about ICT to the core, or to an earlier post that says that even Rangers could not pry him away, but I think it would take a lot to interest him in other jobs ...... 1. He likes it up here (as noted in articles) 2. He is getting older and lifestyle can be just as important a factor as money, if not moreso. 3. ICT is less of a goldfish bowl than other "big clubs" he might be linked with (perhaps that might validate the notion that Rangers couldnt pry him away) 4. He has more power at ICT. His word goes at a smaller club, but at a bigger one, he's a smaller fish and maybe not totally in charge. I get the feeling he does like to be in control of a situation. 5. MOTHERWELL !!! This is the biggie for me. In his earlier career he did a good job at Motherwell and might still be there had he not chosen to take another job and thereafter get on the managerial merry-go-round. As we know, and as discussed on here, his performance at those other clubs was not that great due to various reasons and reuniting with Mo Malpas at ICT seems to have brought him back up to the same "decent" performance level as he last had at Fir Park. I believe that TB will think he can improve ICT, that it is a "slow burning" process that will take a few years, and that he will want to see it through this time ... like he should have done at Motherwell .. He will be hesitant to move as he now knows that the grass is not always greener on the other side !
