  1. We don't know that for sure .... thinking back to the actual period of time where it happened, there was so much going on, so many claims and counter-claims, so many apparent inconsistencies in stories depending on who was telling them or what our own opinions were. I think we can safely say that only a handful of people know the exact details and every nuance - of which there were many - in this case and the suggestion to draw a line under the whole thing is the best idea.
  2. Caley Jags "totally vindicated" as Sheriff Court case comes to an end. Caley Thistle are pleased to plan for the new season with the saga of the Marius Niculae affair finally being successfully ended without the club having to pay compensation. The hearing at which the player was due to appear in Inverness Sheriff Court has now been discharged and the matter is closed. This follows the club's successful appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport which overturned a FIFA decision which had found that Niculae was due a portion of the 450,000 Euros transfer fee which took him from Inverness to Dinamo Bucharest in August 2008. Club chairman George Fraser said: "We're extremely pleased to announce final closure on this whole affair. It has been a major distraction for almost three years but the outcome of both cases totally vindicates our stance on the matter. We are pleased we will no longer have to defend ourselves in Inverness in relation to a claim for a signing on fee for a second year of a contract which, as we all know, Marius chose not to fulfil. We appointed Scotland's leading sports lawyers Harper Macleod to represent us in both cases and their contribution has been invaluable." Having been at Sporting Lisbon, Niculae signed for Caley Thistle in season 2007/08 and this move helped him gain selection for the Romania squad for the 2008 European Championships. But when he returned from the Championships, he refused to go on the club's pre-season tour of Denmark and later appeared on the Dinamo Bucharest website saying he had signed for them. Mr Fraser said:"Football agents are often criticised, but it is my firm belief that if Marius had a registered agent then this matter would have been concluded back in August 2008. The only winners when matters go to court are the lawyers. Marius chose to go down this route which left us with no option but to defend ourselves against the unfounded accusations. A recognised agent would have very quickly identified the strength of our case and negotiated a sensible conclusion." Niculae's transfer fee remains a club record.

just remember our site rules !!! would hate to have to ban an admin for inappropriate photos !!!!!
  5. Good luck Granty from the website, and userbase that sponsored you ever since you broke into the first team squad. I personally am sad to see you go and think it is a mistake, but its not my call. It pains me to say it, but I think our loss is actually County's gain and with recent signings they may do well next season.

oh dear. I came to your wedding .... please have your missus tell me when the funeral is !
  7. LOL --- yup, green is GOing nowhere, Red is STOPping playing for ICT
  8. absolutely agree 100% and wholeheartedly ...... have a feeling that this is too sensible an idea though !
  9. OMG !!!! Basically, the table in the first post .... Red background = GONE from ICT Green Background = Still with ICT Any marked "???" are of unknown status. i.e. they may be gone or they may still be considering an offer from the club. Once the status has been reported one way or the other (signed or moved on), the background on these ones will be changed to red or green.
  10. One bonus ..... league fixtures will be released in only 24 days time (June 17)
  11. Biggest problem is that the SPL is kicking off early ...... and Celtic had announced their pre-season game prior to the SPL management announcing their fixture dates .... In the last 5 years the SPL has only kicked off once in July and the last 4 years have seen it kick-off in August so you cant really blame Celtic for organising a friendly in late July. In anyone's book that should seem reasonable. The Rangers one is a bit different ..... their friendly is organised for 6th August and this would have been before the normal league start in any of the last three seasons ..... BUT, as far as I can see they organised this after the dates had been announced by the SPL so there is definitely an element of taking the **** here !!! I am guessing that Chelsea would not have been up for a friendly any earlier as they want Rangers closer to the start of the EPL season. Now that both of the terrible twins have exercised their rights to postpone a game I expect to see the SPL make a ruling that no more games can be changed to any date after 6th August !!!!! League Start Dates - Last 6 seasons 2011-12 = 23/07 2010-11 = 14/08 2009-10 = 15/08 2008-09 = 09/08 2007-08 = 04/08 2006-07 = 29/07

  15. We produced a table like this last season and have been asked to do it again by a few users ..... so here it is. The contents are based on press releases from the club and other media articles over the course of the season that have stated details about our player contracts. We will keep updating this table as we receive signing news .... !!! <BR><BR> <table width=100% border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"> <tr bgcolor="#000033"> <td colspan="3"><font 16. Sad but true. Just read it on a friend's Twitter feed. Apparently he suffered a heart attack while driving in Florida and crashed into a tree. Not sure which one killed him. Him, Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair and Bret Hart were pretty much the ones that brought this 'sport' back into the mainstream in the late 80s and 90s
  17. Think this is probably my last post in this thread but Walter Smith makes sense to me here: http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/sport/spl/3591236/Id-have-quit-if-I-got-bomb-threats.html
  18. nice thread ..... I agree about Paul Bradshaw .... potentially good player for us (maybe even great - we will never know) but dont think he was really under-rated. As noted, his personal life meant his football career ended so if anyone under-rated him it was likely himself. Gary Farquhar is another who might fall into that same category. Under-rated ..... perhaps Paul Ritchie in the beginning? He got dogs abuse from some sections of the crowd but was a very effective provider for Dennis Wyness until he got his own scoring boots on ! Andrew Allan was another who I thought might go on to have a longer career at ICT than his 19 games, and I would also agree about Tony Low but thats probably because I used to have the odd pint with his father and am a bit biased. Looking through the list of former players it is quite hard to pick a few out and say they were under-rated as I dont think we have ever binned anyone who has gone on to greater things other than Allan Smart and its questionable whether we under-rated him or his other teams over-rated him ! Loads of youngsters in the list, but who knows whether any of them might have scaled the heights if they had been kept on .... Rory McAllister is perhaps one to watch right now given his scoring exploits this season, but was he really under-rated given that he played 62 times for ICT and scored 5. He can ceertainly score at his current level but if any D1 or SPL team takes a chance on him is he now more confident and able to do it at a higher level?
  19. End of the day, my comments were more directed at the perpetrators of the crimes rather than anyone's opinions. Was not calling you or anyone else a bigot ! Bottom line. Neil Lennon is a whinger who tries to gain an advantage in whatever way he can be it cheating to get a fellow professional sent off, trying to influence referees, or generally stirring the pot. when he steps over the line in those circumstances he should be nailed by the football authorities. If he does it outside football then it should be the police dealing with it. Those who choose to send him bombs or bullets are committing a very serious criminal (even terrorist) act (if the police aim for the highest possible charges as they normally do) which is completely separate and on a totally different level to anything NL may have said or done. The two things may be interlinked and they may cite his behaviour as a reason/excuse for this act (I accept that the difference between the definitions is easily blurred) but at the end of the day its still a criminal act and the judge can choose whether or not to accept the reason/excuse in mitigation if/when they have been found guilty of the actual act. I personally would not accept it and if the charges can be proven would throw the book at the offenders. As for the pitch invader, that - for me at least - is less clear cut. I had not heard about the sectarian singing that was supposedly going on until someone mentioned it here, but in the midst of a football game, and possibly fuelled by alcohol, this guy just might have a chance of saying Lennon's actions put him over the edge if he gets the right judge! Personally, I do not think its a valid excuse, and would hammer him with a custodial sentence and a maximum term FBO, but lets be honest here ... if there was not already a bunch of stuff going on around Lennon we would not have paid this all that much more attention than any other pitch invaders of recent years. Perhaps that is not right .... but I do believe it is true.
  20. Definition: Excuse A reason or explanation put forward to defend or justify a fault or offence. Definition: Reason A cause, explanation, or justification for an action or event. Dont think I am mixing them up ..... I always see "excuse" as a get out clause or way to mitigate things by shifting blame to someone else or attributing it to some other action in the same way as some are using Lennon's actions to shift the blame or mitigate the treatment he has suffered. A reason on the other hand is straightforward ... it is what it is, and this is why. I saw an online definition of the difference that read like this ... seems about right !!
  21. Its a hard one ..... and i tend to agree with MabawswaRitchie. If we had released 8 players instead of 10 and retained Grant/Russell there would be little or no outcry as they would all have been expected, including Roy and Golly who, great servants though they have been, know themselves that they are both getting on. Personally, I disagree with the idea of letting Grant and Russell go. I think truly good teams always have a blend of youth and experience and these two players would give us a lot of that experience. Both are barely 30, both can easily contribute to ICT for a few more years, and both may still be better than what we end up replacing them with. However, its the manager's choice, and none of us are party to the manager's plans just yet, or who he has seen, scouted, or may have made an offer to, so if we have faith in him, then we have to trust him...... despite the fact that losing two such long serving stalwarts sticks in the throat a bit !
  22. This is about the best (and shortest) answer on this thread !!!! Tend to agree. Neil Lennon is indeed a "ned" and there are plenty of them at most clubs including our own. The biggest difference is that he is a manager of one of the clubs rather than just one of the fans so is a little bit more in the spotlight! I can see where CD is coming from in saying that some might choose to cite his behaviour as a reason for his abuse. That part of it is true ... some may indeed cite his behaviour and try to call it a reason ... however, IMHO, they are mistaken. No "neddish" behaviour can remotely justify the depth of the reaction he has been subjected to and to use his own behaviour to justify, minimise, or even explain the actions of others is not a reason, its an excuse, and for some people (not all) is merely a mask for what may be the actual reasons ... which can only be bigotry, sectarianism or religious based racism. I am no fan of Lennon the footballer or Lennon the manager, but I also do not know Lennon the person away from football. Some say he is good, others say he is still a ned. I dont know, and to be frank, I dont care as I am unlikely to ever cross paths with him, make friends with him, or be in his company. If we are not playing Celtic, or he is not saying something that affects ICT then I pretty much try to ignore him (and other neds) altogether. My perception/opinion of Lennon is based entirely on football and I am sure I am not alone in this. My opinion was formed with the Juanjo incident which proved him to be a cheat and his antics this season certainly didnt help my perceptions of the man, but no matter what, he does not deserve the magnitude or amount of s*** thats being thrown at him this season and then dressed up by some as being his own fault. Yes he has responsibility for his own actions, and should perhaps have kept his gob shut on a few occasions this season, and Yes he should be taken to task for certain things (and has been for some if not all), and Yes it will shape peoples opinions of him ... but, you dont like Lennon? you say so, you call him out for what he says, what he does, or the persona he projects but you do not use his religion, the club he manages, or anything else to justify a disproportionate reaction to any of that stuff ..... The focus should have been on his whingeing, on his accusations towards refs, on his basic "neddishness" but that has all been lost because of what he has had to endure. In the end, instead of seeing a neddish whingeing football manager we see a victim who is attracting sympathy .... and you know what, based on everything thats happened this season he actually deserves it.
  23. We went to the wrong place when arriving home from Hamilton. Imagine if we'd gone to Lava and Ignite, we'd have been able to get coked up with Blackie! Allegedly. Aye but who knows what youse got up to after Daddy Mantis left youse in that gay bar? Had you pulled ???
  24. Tell me about it !!! I was close .... really close .... when Charlie was manager, and a few months older than the manager when Brewster was in charge .... but for now, I am good
