  1. The podcast of this show doesnt seem to have the interview ? It has a bit atr the start with him angrily having a go at the guy from the SPL who called off the games then the rest of the pdcast seems to focus on Aberdeen. couldnt find it on iPlayer and the sportsound pages - if i remember correctly - said it was not available on iPlayer, probably because it was on MW.

nahh, I wouldnt want to jeer him .... that would be a waste of oxygen, much like he is !
  3. Brew was supposedly "gutted" at not being offered the manager's job at County and has turned down the offer to continue as assistant according to the Highland News. http://www.highland-news.co.uk/news/fullstory.php/aid/8486/Brewster_quits_County.html He's now 16/1 for the Aberdeen job

My first question is who the hell is Mark Wright ? looks like some 'Z' list wannabee styling himself on the look of Beckham going by the HN picture but without the intelligence and probably even less articulate ..... my second question is why would anyone actually want to go see him !!! What a complete and utter t***. ..... Attacked by Caley Thistle fans, yeah right !!!! If such a massive 'celebrity' is travelling by train then surely the Transport Police, especially those in Glasgow who would have been all over the place on a matchday, would have dealt with any incident or even heard of it. sir (and I should spell that cur), you are a worthy recipient of this smilie Attacked by Caley Thistle Fans ? http://www.highland-news.co.uk/news/fullstory.php/aid/8473/No-show_Essex_celeb_angers_Caley_Thistle_fans.html "The 23-year-old claimed they had been abused throughout the match, and the taunts continued when they boarded the train when bottles were hurled at them. He also said he had to get his dad to hospital, as they suspected he had a broken hand" "A spokesman for BTP said: "We have no log of any incidents. Nothing has been reported to us."" "To add insult to injury, Mark Wright - who himself is a club promoter - has posted pictures of himself partying in his own club Deuces in Essex on Saturday when he was supposed to be meeting and greeting Inverness fans" "The Highland News contacted Mark, who said before quickly handing the phone to his agent: "I flew back home after the incident and once I was home I didn't see the bother in going to my own club - I won't get attacked there." His agent failed to respond to further questions from the Highland News." MW = Juan Kerr !!!!
  5. It would be nice if TB would rule himself out of the job and end the speculation but really, who has linked him with the job? The Media. TB has not linked himself with the job and neither have Aberdeen. Its all media speculation and true to form the names in the frame, as always, are managers who are doing well like TB, ones who have some Aberdeen connection, or ones who have previously managed in Scotland and are currently out of work. Throw in a couple of 'surprise' candidates who want to get themselves in the media (a la Warnock or Ardiles) and its following a very tried, tested and tired formula.
  6. Dave Narey "toe poke" perchance
  7. if you - or anyone else - can post a pic of the ones we are missing in the shirts page, it would definitely be appreciated !
  8. Personally i think that the rule should be "adequate pitch protection" leaving clubs to decide if USH, pitch blankets, hot air domes or just leaving it to nature are appropriate for them ..... then, if games are called off because of the pitch clubs could be dealt with if their games were called off when other comparable games were going ahead.
  9. According to a news release on the SPL website, and confirmed with a short statement on the ICT Official Website, all of this weekend's SPL fixtures have been postponed. This is due to the current weather conditions and the forecast for the weekend which doesnt appear to be much better. The SPL news release reads as follows: In light of the severe weather conditions across Scotland, which are forecast to continue for some time, all Clydesdale Bank Premier League games have been postponed on Saturday 4 December. It is hoped that this early notice of postponement, whilst disappointing, will allow everyone to plan accordingly. New dates for the fixtures will be announced in due course. Fixtures postponed this weekend - Saturday 4 December Aberdeen v Celtic Hibernian v St Mirren Inverness CT v Dundee United Motherwell v Kilmarnock Rangers v Hearts St Johnstone v Hamilton Accies Sources: SPL Website / ICT Website
  10. you got a pic KB ? .... thats one of the missing ones from our shirt page: http://caleythistleonline.com/shirts.html guess I should also update that page with 09/10 and 10/11
  11. Of course it does ... The courier printed proof last week http://www.inverness-courier.co.uk/news/fullstory.php/aid/13910/Mystery_surrounds_Loch_Ness__91humps_92.html
  12. Teenage twosome Nick Ross and Graeme Shinnie have been offered new deals in recognition of impressive consistency. Caley Thistle's 'grown your own' policy has paid off with Terry Butcher offering full professional contracts to teenagers Nick Ross and Graeme Shinnie, two heroes in Saturday's draw at Celtic Park . Both lads are products of the club's youth development system and have 'kicked on' impressively this season and now the club hope to have both tied up on new deals within days. It's been an astonishing season for Ross, who was 19 last month and celebrated with a goal on his debut for Scotland Under-21s against Northern Ireland at Firhill. He's been an ever present in the side. Aberdeen-born Shinnie, also 19, has also made exciting progress with 10 starts so far this campaign. "I've asked a lot of both youngsters but they have shown excellent talent, attitude and confidence at SFL level", says manager Butcher."They fully deserve the offer of new extended contracts and after discussions with their parents, I am very optimistic both will put pen to paper. It's gratifying to see young players progress this way and Nick and Graeme have very bright futures if they cotninue to apply themselves as they have been doing."
  13. I dont think Warnock was ever offered it ... that was PR spin that got both parties into the newspapers which was what both wanted at the time ! I remember Archie Knox being mentioned but not sure if he was ever offered it and there was also talk of Colin Hendry at one point but the same applies. I think Owen Coyle would have done well here and I do rate him as a manager but the more I think about it, the more I think Terry is almost perfect for this job. With only a few exceptions for managers who are good wherever they go I think managers have to be a good fit for any job they go into and a crap manager at one club might be excellent at another depending on the setup, in the same way as a player might be ... You could argue that this applies to Terry. He was good at 'Well but not so much elsewhere until he came to ICT. (I know. Another factor could also be Mo as he was at Well with him but not elsewhere until they teamed up again at ICT) Terry's exuberance, PR and people skills and obvious motivational skills coupled with the respect he garners from his playing days and the rapport he has developed with fans and players alike fosters the cameraderie that many pundits were talking about at the weekend. A few of them said that this seemed to be the difference between ICT as a lower end of the table team to one which hasnt lost an away league match for over a year. That comment struck a chord with me as it was something that was evident in the Pele and Robbo days but not so much in the Brewster era ..... Regardless of who may or may not have been offered it in the past, I am delighted with the current incumbent !!!
  14. Paul Ritchie and Davide Xausa were the names that surprised me. To my recollection Ritchie was more of a worker/provider for Denzil than an out and out goalscorer himself so his % surprised me and maybe shows how good he actually was (and one in the eye for his doubters) and Xausa would certainly not have been a name that immediately sprung to mind when discussing our most 'efficient' scorers. To answer the other part of the original question. Yes, if we can keep Adam, I firmly believe he could smash Denzil's record but not Stewarty's strike rate
  15. Nahh .... Games per goal is the second figure (in brackets). Strike rate is the first figure expressed as a percentage and represents the percentage of games the player has appeared in where he has scored. Like most stats the definitions can be argued till the cows come home and whether it is 54.6% or 0.546 is indeed just pedantry as it amounts to the same thing. Let's just be happy our current main striker is sitting high up in both tables and get the discussion back into more interesting territory !!!
  16. which begs the question back to Renegade .... is a trialist, who is not under "official" contract as a player any more "official" than a caretaker manager
  17. yes Charles, you are correct ... the heading should in fact read ..... ICT top 10 By by Strike Rate (games per goal) where strike rate is the figure obtained by expressing the calculation [goals]/[games] as a percentage, and games per goal is [100]/[strike rate %] or as you stated 1/[goals/games] which comes to the same thing. Renegade - I understand your point, and it is valid, but that particular statistic is an anomaly I have chosen to disregard as the whole list is based on those who have made a 'decent' amount of appearances .... lets just say he is a 'footnote' on the bottom of the table. PS - McDonald never played for ICT either !!! He played in 94/95 when we were CT !!! (sorry couldnt resist it) For those interested, his goal (on his debut) was the only CT goal in a 4-1 drubbing at the hands of Queens Park at Hampden. He played a total of 156 minutes for CT. 80 minutes in the QP game on 21/01/95 and 76 mins on 4/2/95 against Forfar at Telford Street (1-1 draw). not sure why he never played again, perhaps Charles or someone else can enlighten us.
  18. 3 goals in 41 apps. SR = 7.32 (13.66) Slightly better than Bryan Prunty and Darren Dods, just behind Wayne Addicoat, Colin Mitchell and Bobby Mann ! Incidentally, its also behind Rory (SR 8.06 (12.4)) That is true but not included as it is just like saying Grassa is our best manager because he never lost a game as caretaker manager ...... (0 wins, 2 draws, 0 losses), or that the best management team was John Doc & CC in 05/06 as they oversaw 3 wins out of 3 before Charlie got the job full time.
  19. ICT top 10 By goals (total) Denzil = 101 goals in 243 apps. Strike Rate = 41.56% (1 goal every 2.4 games) Barry = 83 in 353 apps. SR = 23.51% (4.25) Stewarty = 82 goals in 144 apps. SR = 56.94 (1.75) Paul Ritchie = 63 in 132 apps. SR = 47.73 (2.09) Adam = 46 in 99 apps. SR = 46.46 (2.15) Paul Sheerin = 45 in 142 apps. SR = 31.69 (3.15) Scotty McLean = 35 in 83 apps. SR = 42.17 (2.37) Brian Thomson = 34 in 93 apps. SR = 36.56 (2.73) Charlie = 34 in 314 apps. SR = 10.83 (9.23) Rossco = 34 in 533 apps. SR = 6.38 (15.67) ICT top 10 By by strike rate (games per goal) Stewarty = 82 goals in 144 apps. SR = 56.94 (1.75) Dargo = 32 in 67 apps. SR = 47.76 (2.09) Paul Ritchie = 63 in 132 apps. SR = 47.73 (2.09) Adam = 46 in 99 apps. SR = 46.46 (2.15) Scotty McLean = 35 in 83 apps. SR = 42.17 (2.37) Xausa = 20 in 48 apps. SR = 41.67 (2.40) Denzil = 101 in 243 apps. SR = 41.56% (2.4) Bingham = 17 in 42 apps. SR = 40.48 (2.47) Brian Thomson = 34 in 93 apps. SR = 36.56 (2.73) Brewster = 12 in 36 apps. SR = 33.33 (3.00)
  20. you could be right .... think his last club before we signed him was Bury, but he was on loan from Stoke so the details may have got skewed, will amend the player profile.
  21. Its a tough one ..... none of us in our right minds would want to see him go but we WILL lose him at some point. Even if not motivated by money, Adam will - quite rightly - want to play at the highest level he can and sadly (for us), that level is a bit above ICT. By all accounts he does like it up here and that has to be helped by having Jonny Hayes and Richie Foran around so hopefully he might stick around for another year but like many, I could see him signing a one year extension (to pay back ICT & TB for setting him on the road to stardom) and then moving on - for a fee - in the Summer.
  22. prior to last weekend he had scored 46 goals in 98 appearances. now 46 in 99. http://stats.caleythistleonline.com/player.php?id=155
  23. to be fair we have been getting plenty of plaudits recently and yesterday I near fell off my chair when both Jim Traynor and Chick Young complimented us .... JT mentioned that ICT deserved all the credit that came our way, especially after the way we came back yesterday to maintain our away record, and Chick, ever the gracious one basically said he thought we used to be cloggers but now he realises we can play a bit too !!!
