praise from Mark McGhee
McGhee's column in the P&J this week is full of praise for us ..... http://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/Article.aspx/1884360?UserKey= "Caley Jags were excellent and their performance was the best I have seen from an Inverness team in my time in Scotland." "if Caley Thistle can maintain the level of performance I saw on Sunday they will secure their place in the top flight before Christmas and then focus on pushing as high up the table as they can in the second half of the season."

Don't forget, you can also see the highlights on the Club website once they are posted (usually a few of days after the game) and these will stay there for at least a month if not longer. http://www.ictfc.co.uk/page/matchhighlights/0,,10447,00.html Longer .... - ICT still have highlights available from most of the latter stages of last season as well as the Celtic game and hopefully soon, the DUFC game .... Still waiting for the BBC to make the highlights available on their FTP site so we can display them on the official site .... delay is not the club's (or my) fault this time

He will have done his chances no harm with his opening two performances (not that he had much to do yesterday) .... it just waits to be seen whether Levein has actually noticed ......- BBC Celtic
not on the BBC payroll, but just appreciative that a) we have highlights in the first place and b) that they are online pretty damn quickly all things considered !!!- Away fans today
Its a crock of **** but unfortunately there are indeed media regulations in place that state that only "accredited photographers" who have a photographic license from the SPL may take pictures of the match action. (The photographic license document has something like 23 different rules governing matchday photos!!!)- Matchday Thread: Dundee Utd -V- ICT
indeed - alternative maryhill's introduction to the editorial team has given the rest of us a very high bar to aim at. excellent stuff for both the preview and also the report.- BBC Celtic
Perhaps the quality of our goals was causing their system to crash. For those who like to criticise and concoct conspiracy theories where there are none ... let me play Devil's advocate and support the BBC on this one .... Here are a few facts to consider ..... 1. They have 4 matches played on the same day and have to edit 90+ minutes of footage from them all. I do agree there may be an element of "lets get the OF games edited first" but at the end of the day one game will be first and others will follow, they are unlikely to have multiple squads of people editing down the footage for the web. 2. I know from experience that editing footage is not quick. The final clip may only be 5 or 6 minutes long but it takes a lot longer than that to edit, re-edit, get the voiceovers correct and then compile/convert it all into a usable format for the web where you have to get the balance right between filesize and bitrate. It is not easy. 3. Some 'normal' games may be easier to edit in terms of what footage to show ... but in a game like yesterday's it will be harder to edit because there is likely a lot more they would like to show than they can fit into the allowed clip duration !!! The BBC cant just show as much as they like. Their media agreement only allows a certain number of minutes from each game so deciding what makes it and what doesnt in a game like yesterday's is hard and time consuming. 4. Regardless of the order they are edited in, there are "holdback" rules in place that mean they cannot be put online until something like 10pm Sunday for the Saturday games (might have changed - that rule was tied to TV broadcast times) and midnight Sunday for the Sunday games. As each game goes online I am sure they will test them to make sure the links work and the video is of decent quality (I know we test this before the pages go live on the official site !!) ... testing this may mean the whole process of getting highlights of 4-6 games online may take an hour or more ....... you just need to have a little patience !!!!!- Matchday Thread: Dundee Utd -V- ICT
Highlights can be made available on club websites on Monday nights. Realistically that will mean Tuesday before it goes up as there will not be anyone at the stadium to load the page on Monday night. One bit of good news - referred to earlier - is that due to the media arrangements in place with the SPL, the club do have access to the BBC (and presumably ESPN or SKY) footage so most weeks we will have less work involved in making and loading the video clips.- Matchday Thread: Dundee Utd -V- ICT
its called only having one pair of hands SMEE !!! we have about 10 pages that require updates during and after a match so I apologise deeply if it momentarily showed 0-3 when we actually won 0-4- Matchday Thread: Dundee Utd -V- ICT

nahh, hadnt started one and am runing late so this will do - I will add the relevant bits into your post. Cheers EWS.- A wind of change?
I would disagree. The game last weekend is a bit of an anomaly. It was our first back in the SPL and that probably bumped the crowd a bit. Our average gate Vs Celtic is a little over 7000 (Rangers is also comparable if a little higher). Compare that to Aberdeen at around 6000, Hearts at 5000 or Hibs at 4500 ..... On those figures alone you could argue your point pretty well in terms of revenue ... BUT that does not take into consideration the cost of staging the game. We require far more police, stewards and various other staff for a matchday versus the OF than we do against other teams ... so a crowd bump of 1000-2000 at ?20 a ticket is maybe a maximum of ?40K more for a game but how much of that is eaten up in increased costs ? As it stands at the moment you are guaranteed 3 home games against the OF each season. 2 x Cetic and 1 x Rangers in one season, and 2 x Rangers and 1 x Celtic in the following season. If you reach the top 6 you may also get another home fixture but that is not guaranteed. so what we are really talking about in any reformation of the league - most of which would have us playing each team home and away once - is the loss of a single game against one of the OF which is worth perhaps an extra ?40K minus any increased costs compared to any other game. Could we survive on that ? I think we could, especially if it meant that the SPL was more competitive and teams at the bottom end - like us - were not constantly fearing relegation and the economic impact that this would have. Personally, I favour two leagues of 20 (yes that means we lose 2 teams), playing 19 home and 19 away games with relegation and playoffs come the end of the season. A playoff game where you are scrapping for survival against a team from a lower league could easily generate at least a portion of the profit lost from a game V the OF if it is promoted in the right fashion. I would also favour a route for junior, or non-league teams to reach the senior leagues. The bottom of the lower division should also have relegation and/or playoffs so that other teams could aspire to reach the senior structure. I would go even further and say I dont care if the OF do bugger off to England or some form of European Super League .... Initially it would be devestating for Scottish football but lets not forget that in terms of payouts from sponsors and TV, the league is weighted so that nearly 80% of the payouts go to the teams finishing 1st and 2nd !!! The sponsorship pie might not be as big without the draw of the OF but if everyone was getting a fair slice of it rather than the scraps again the impact would not necessarily be as severe as we might think. Wouldnt it be nice to be able to say about the SPL that we could actually consider winning it just like we have now won the 1st division (twice), or that we have a chance at lifting a cup or qualifying for Europe etc ......... I dont think you need to bring back terracing, and I dont think that will ever fly, but you can still get an atmosphere even with seats there if you can indeed address the stewarding and petty rules aspect of the "matchday experience". I hate to bring Toronto FC into yet another topic but sorry folks, thats my weekly footie experience now and I believe its relevant. MLS rules dictate that stadia must be all-seated but enforcement is done at the discretion of the club. At TFC I think they have got it about right. In the "posh" seats in the main stand you are indeed told to sit down and be "respectful" but there are designated supporters sections (the whole of the south stand for example) where you are allowed, even encouraged, to sing and chant, wave flags, make as much noise as you can and generally enjoy the game. The players do react to it and I have lost count of the number of times that players and management of TFC or the opposition have mentioned how intimidating and important the home fans are at a game. Hell the owners of the club even advertise the boisterousness of the fans as a selling point to potential fans !!!! Regarding the winter break - I believe there should definitely be one and weather statistics show that it should not be at Xmas, but in late January or throughout the month of february which in a normal year is the worst weather month in Scotland.- Site Maintenance
I have reconfigured the smilies (as noted above) and decided, based on feedback received to remove the large ones completely. I have also cut down the overall number of smaller ones and removed duplicates and similar ones so that we have less of them, but better ones .... still working on the design tweaks but fingers crossed, nothing has gone wrong yet- The CTO - SPL Prediction League
Updated. Doofer's mum takes the early lead with 130 points after predicting 6 x 1-1 scorelines !!! would love that but unfortunately the PL has not yet reached the stage of being a sentient being so manual intervention is required. Just had a very busy week so far so it slipped my mind.- 2nd round? ICT-Peterhead
Is there anywhere it actually confirms the details ??? The fixture list doesnt show this game and the only article I can find about it still says Tuesday or Wednesday ? It may be buried inside the content of another article but havent got the time (or inclination) to go searching ! edit: found it eventually by going to the buy online ticket page !!! 7:45PM Wednesday 25th.- Site Maintenance
Just a quick note ....... Over the next few days I will be performing some site maintenance and tweaks. During this time, some of the pages may take on a slightly strange appearance at times so no need to report this, but overall there should hopefully be no down time as the changes are cosmetic rather than content related and will not be affecting the database so there should be no need to switch the board off. and yes ..... one of the changes will be to the smilies !!! I am not going to delete (all of) the new ones, but we will re-arrange them in the smilie box so that the most favoured of the older ones are more prominent !- Matchday Thread: ICT -V- Celtic
I wasnt :_blah: Overall, a good game and hopefully it may answer some questions about whether we can compete in the SPL this year. I think we can, and although losing this one was disappointing, it wasnt a disaster !!! - Ryan Esson
