anyhoo ... back on topic ..... did anyone else notice the little dig at the end of the article in the Courier ??? http://www.inverness-courier.co.uk/news/fullstory.php/aid/13245/Jeers_and_boos_don_t_bother_Imrie.html "I'm just delighted I'm at a club that respects how I play and what I do for them"

This is very sad news. Heartfelt wishes go out to Iain and the rest of the family.

Nick Ross
.... mmmmm, werent TB & MM responsible for bringing through a couple of not insignificant youngsters at Motherwell when they had no choice but to turn to youth during adversity ? .... If they think he is good enough then that will do for me. He is not the finished article but fer gawds sake he IS only 18 so will make mistakes and will succumb to pressure .... but he doesnt look out of place coming in as the 'squad player' being used to fill in for the player who would be first choice ....

Question.
if its recent, you are probably referring to Michael Fraser.

Nick Ross
I agree with IHE !!!!!! I just did  Stop being so melodramatic !!! Yes there are criticisms of him on here but there are just as many folk batting those criticisms back and saying that he's a young lad with lots to learn who has been thrown in at the deep end and has done reasonably well so far and shows the promise of great things to come. If he is so sensitive about internet forums then heaven help him if he ever progresses to a higher level and the media want to probe his every action !!! Most of the players I have ever spoken to know that internet criticism is the same as criticism at the stadium - it tends to be a small minority of people who no matter what the player does, can never do anything right in their eyes.

Dougie Imrie
I have hidden a number of posts in this thread and banned one member from participating in this thread. On any level it is NOT appropriate to make comments wishing death on another player - not even on Mr Imrie who I completely understand is not everyone's cup of tea. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but please be aware that we are also entitled - as owners of this site - to choose not to display that opinion.

Hope you had a couple of quid on that .... it would be the only thing that would be bearable !!!

Inverness CT -V- Hamilton - Report
Back to earth with a bump. After the euphoria of Tannadice, normal service was resumed as Hamilton stunned the home support. A sensational strike from ex Caley Jaggie Dougie Imrie inside the first minute was the difference between the sides as Inverness struggled to recreate the free flowing football of the previous week. Simon Mensing closed the door at every opportunity to stifle the home attack, while hitting effectively on the break through new boy Nigel Hasselbaink as Inverness toiled. 28th August 2010 Tulloch Caledonian Stadium INVERNESS CALEDONIAN THISTLE 0 - TEAM: Esson, Proctor, Munro, Gillet, McCann (Tokely 23), Cox, Duncan, Ross (Sutherland 74), Hayes, Odhiambo, Rooney SUBS: Tuffey, Golabek, Innes, McBain, Sanchez HAMILTON ACADEMICAL 1 - Imrie (01) TEAM: Cerny, Gillespie, Graham, Mensing, Buchanan, Imrie, Routledge, Wilkie (Skelton 71), Flavio Paixao, Marco Paixao (Lyle 68), Hasselbaink (Thomas 78) SUBS: Murdoch, McDonald, Kirkpatrick, McQueen Referee J McKendrick Attendance 3851 It’s all Academic. Inverness started this game as big favourites but failed to live up to the billing as once again our bogey team left with the three points. Ross Tokely was on the bench alongside Chris Innes, Sanchez, Sutherland, McBain and Tuffey. With Foran still out Nick Ross kept his spot on the left flank and the same starting eleven that blitzed Dundee United took to the field. Hamilton boss Billy Reid fielded Nigel Hasselbaink up front and Simon Mensing in the heart of the defence, two players who were to have a big impact on the game. Hamilton had lost both of their opening fixtures 4-0 and were dumped out of the CIS cup by Raith Rovers, Inverness on the other hand were buoyant after whitewashing the Arabs last weekend. Things were about to change in 40 seconds. Nobody made a bigger impact than the man they all love to hate, Dougie Imrie. Before ref Mckendrick’s pea had stopped rattling in his whistle, wee Dougie incensed the home fans by slamming an unstoppable shot high past a startled Ryan Esson. It was a goal fit to win any match, unfortunately for us, Dougie was now playing against ICT. Lee Cox got the ball tangled under his feet and lost out on the half way line. Imrie drifted goalwards as the defenders backed off. A couple of drops of the shoulders and Dougie found himself thirty odd yards out, but still with plenty to do. What happened next was stunning, he unleashed a rocket that flew high through Essons left hand as the power and accuracy of the shot caught everyone cold. It looked as though the ball moved considerably as it fizzed towards the net. He had every right to show his delight as he glared merrily into the North Stand as his name was chanted, well not quite chanted, but I’m sure he was enjoying the battle already, and it was one that he won convincingly. Last weeks hero Kevin McCann went off injured after 22 minutes and this meant a reshuffle at the back with Proctor moving wide and Tokely teaming up with Munro. Esson pushed away a Flavio Paixao curling effort as Hamilton continued to impress and we seemed unable to hold onto the ball. Our worst nightmare was happening all over again. Hamilton know how to frustrate us and to be honest they bossed the entire first half as we could not put together one attempt of any note. Nigel Hasselbaink looked very sharp, and his direct running at our defence was causing problems. With Simon Mensing and Andy Graham mopping up every ball we lofted forward it was no surprise that ICT trooped off at half time to the sound of disgruntlement. Half Time 0-1. This must have been how United’s fans felt last week and it was difficult to see where Inverness were going to get a foothold in the game. Butcher must have been an unhappy bunny at half time and I’m sure the players would have felt the wrath of the management. Jonny Hayes was posted missing in the first half, as was Rooney, it’s maybe not their fault entirely as the service from midfield was non existent. Nick Ross looked to be our best bet to get us back into the game but he needed the senior players to help him out. Sadly he was left with too much to do although he never stopped trying. He may have chosen the wrong option when getting into the box on one occasion, but at least he tried to make an impact, winning numerous corners for his endeavours, and flashing a dangerous ball across the face of the six yard box, but no takers. Rooney lobbed the keeper before being bundled over but the ball was cleared as it bounced towards the empty net. Nigel Hasselbaink was playing effectively as Hamilton were reduced to hitting on the break, a ploy we have used to great effect over the years. It sure as hell frustrates the opposition and this is exactly what the Accies did. At one point Hamilton looked set to increase their lead as they queued up in the box to round off a three man move, fortunately for Inverness we shut the danger down before the trigger was pulled. Substitute Joel Thomas whistled a shot high into the side net as yet another home attack floundered and Accies swept forward. This was the pattern of the game and Inverness can have little complaint as we seriously lacked a cutting edge and a creative midfield which left the strikers chasing lost causes. Thomas Cerny enraged the locals with his usual time wasting, but if truth be told, we could have played till after the international break and still not scored. We finished the game with a few flurries around the Hamilton penalty box but it was another too little too late scenario. Full Time 0-1. Tm4tj MotM If it were to go to a home player it would have been an injustice. Nobody in blue performed with any great conviction and we were second to every loose ball. Nick Ross was the pick of the home players and with a few more spl games under his belt he may have been the one to unlock the Accies rearguard. Hasselbaink can be pleased with his debut, Andy Graham snuffed out Rooney and Co, but My MotM goes to Simon Mensing. He won every ball in the air and was solid in the tackle. The International break will give us time to regroup and maybe give Foran some hope of making his season’s debut. Easter Road in a couple of weeks, maybe the away days will bring more joy. Brian Irvine's glass really is half empty. I didn't last long with MFR either - open all mics for me today. Yeah, I also headed back to BBC as MFR wasnt much better ... seriously considering OAM as well, just for Chick's banter and the feeling that I do actually have blood running through my veins and have not entered some parallel universe where everyone sounds like Brian Irvine ! Wonder if he listens to the Smiths ?

listening to MFR today ...... would be suicidal by halftime if I continued listening to the drone from the TCS on BBC !!!

Match Highlights
We have access to the BBC highlights so we will use these for many games. This reduces the pressure on myself and Andy to record then process his video and has the added bonus that the BBC also add commentary, which we do not ! There is no point in duplicating the work if the BBC are going to produce similar footage !<br /><br /> Andy will still be videoing games as he does this for the club and for TB and where we feel the BBC footage is sufficiently different to his then we will use his instead or perhaps even both .....<br /><br /> Andy can also not commit to getting to every game - but the BBC can !!!<br /><br /> The bottom line is that this may free Andy up to do other video projects that people asked about ... if the club feel there is any merit in it ... maybe the odd interview with a player or TB or even with fans during a game ....<br /><br /> Incidentally, I note that the club havent adjusted the page yet so here are the links to the official footage that is hosted by the club. [The links are not dodgy, they are the same links that will appear on the official site when they update their highlights page].<br /><br /> <div align="center"> <table width="70%" border="0" align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="5"> <tr bgcolor="#CCCCCC"> <td><div align="center"><b><font color="#000000" size="2" face="Arial">Date</font></b></div></td> <td><div align="center"><b><font color="#000000" size="2" face="Arial">Opposition</font></b></div></td> <td><div align="center"><b><font color="#000000" size="2" face="Arial">Venue</font></b></div></td> <td colspan="2"><div align="center"><b><font color="#000000" size="2" face="Arial"> Files </font></b></div></td> </tr> <tr> <td><div align="center"><b><font color="#000000" size="2" face="Arial">22/08/10</font></b></div></td> <td><div align="center"><b><font color="#000000" size="2" face="Arial">Dundee Utd</font></b></div></td> <td><div align="center"><b><font color="#000000" size="2" face="Arial">(A)</font></b></div></td> <td><div align="center"><b><font color="#000000" size="2" face="Arial"><a href="http://ictfc.net/video/2010-11/2010_08_22_dundeeutd_spl/highlights.html" target="_blank" onclick="window.open(this.href,'video','top=150, left=150, width=725, height=600, toolbar=no, menubar=no, location=no, scrollbars=no, resizable=yes'); return false;">wmv</a></font></b></div></td> <td><div align="center"><b><font color="#000000" size="2" face="Arial"><a title="ICT-TV" onmouseover="window.status='Open video';return true" onfocus="window.status='Open video';return true" onmouseout="window.status=''" href="JavaScript:void(0)" onclick="window.open('http://www.ictfc.net/video/mediaplayer.swf?file=http://ictfc.net/video/2010-11/2010_08_22_dundeeutd_spl/highlights/20100822_dundeeutd_spl_bbc.flv&allowfullscreen=true&height=576&width=720&&id=veneers&searchbar=false&showicons=false&autostart=true&overstretch=fit&backcolor=0x287585&frontcolor=0xFFFFFF&lightcolor=0x000000', 'Window1','left=1,top=1,menubar=0,location=0,status=0,width=720,height=576,toolbar=no,resizable=1');">flv</a></font></b></div></td> </tr> </table> </div>

Terry Butcher
Was updating some of the stats I keep (over and above the stuff Ian Broadfoot sends me) and one of the spreadsheets was my manager comparison ...... some of the stats about Terry make interesting reading !!!! Dont have time to type it all out - but the screenshots should show most ..... a couple of nuggets .... Terry has now managed the club for 4 more games than Charlie Christie did and just 15 less than Robbo. Last season we lost less games than any other season in our history !!! Terry's Record All Managers Our SPL record by manager The "winning-est" and "losing-est" percentages

Dougie Imrie
Imrie made a positive contribution to ICT in his 73 appearances for us and had at least a small part in last season's success. Regardless of what you think of him personally, or of any of his alleged off the field antics, you have to respect that. Having said that, in my eyes, he does not fall into the same category as players I will always revere even though they went elsewhere (and in some cases came back later) like Wyness, Mann, Wilson, Dods, Black, Brown etc. so I would not be rushing to give him a super warm welcome !

should be up today - I have just sent the updated page code to the club and all they have to do is upload it. The BBC were (very) late in making the highlights available this week

Richard Hastings
I wonder if he is holding out for Vancouver Whitecaps for later in the year ? VW enter MLS next season and as well as getting players in the draft and from their current team they may be able to sign some free agents ......

Next Round
It looks right - all the seeds finished above us last season. Although, as it is the SFL cup, maybe they should base the seedings on SFL positions. As the current SFL champions. that would make us No 1 seeds! Can't you just hear the West Coast griping if they pulled that stunt! Classic fail . Whatever. Cos it's very likely that this will happen won't it. Just pointing out that the current SFL champions are seeded lower than some teams who are not even member of the SFL. the SFL has no place to claim superiority over anything in this competition given that is a cup competition incorporating teams from both the SFL and SPL and the name and organisers stem from a legacy of when all teams were under the same umbrella rather than different organising bodies (yet another reason why we should streamline the bureacracy) It is pretty straightforward. The first 3 rounds are seeded with the top finishing teams left in the draw taking on the teams that finished below them in the SPL or SFL .... The only change this year - which did mean we entered a round earlier - is that in the past the relegated SPL team went straight into the 1st round with the promoted SFL1 team getting a bye to the 2nd round ... This was changed for this year so now it is totally consistent with exactly how the league finished the previous season. Format:(based on finishing positions in the previous season) Round 1 (seeded) - All SFL teams (30) - 15 games Round 2 (seeded) - 15 winners + 7 sides that did not qualify for Europe (Hearts, St Johnstone, Aberdeen, Hamilton, St Mirren, Kilmarnock, Falkirk) - 11 games Round 3 (seeded) - 11 winners + 5 Clubs who were in Europe (Celtic, Rangers, Dundee Utd, Hibs, Motherwell) - 8 games. Q-F onwards - not seeded.

We Will Lose Against Hamilton
If the object of the Chibber exercise was to bring us back down to earth then job done !!! We have played pretty well in each of our opening two games but we need to make sure we are up for every game .. be it the "big" games against the OF or any of the other perpetual top six teams, or be it against our fellow bottom feeders. If anything these "bottom six" games are more important as some of them are literally 6 pointers. I hear what you say HC and its hard to argue against you but as others have said, Billy Reid has not yet had to deal with ICT under TB, only under CB which was a different animal. I would also add one thing to our mindset that may make us stronger mentally and that is fear of relegation .... If any of our players need motivation they only need to consider the uncertainty and anguish they experienced two seasons ago and that should be enough to give them that extra jolt .......

Returning Players
I am with CaleyD on this one. warm welcome to the man, but once the game starts he is an opposition player and one of their danger men so needs to be dealt with on that basis. There was a similar dilemma at the weekend for Toronto fans ..... Carl Robinson spent 3 years with the club until he was traded to New York before the start of this season. Last weekend we played New York and got royally hammered (courtesy of Thierry Henry, Rafa Marquez and Juan Pablo Angel as well as the heroics of the NY keeper). With 15 minutes to go, Robbo came on as a sub and he got a tremendous ovation from the supporters. We hadnt been able to wish him goodbye as he went during the close season so he got a great reception. Thereafter he was just one of the opposition and subject to the same treatment. He actually scored a goal 4 minutes after coming on and being the classy guy he is refused to celebrate or wind up his former fans. Respect from us to him and respect from him to us ... very dignified !!!!

SPL Trust launch ‘football fans in training’
The Scottish Premier League Trust today joined forces with The Football Pools and Scottish Government to announce an exciting partnership that will see top flight football clubs tackle a number of serious men’s health issues. The donation of over £250,000 from The Football Pools, and additional support from the Scottish Government, will activate a unique programme, ‘Football Fans in Training’, to help improve the state of men’s health across Scotland. Operating out of all SPL clubs, supporters can sign up for free sessions aimed at increasing physical activity, improving diet and promoting a healthy lifestyle. The programme has been developed by club coaches in conjunction with top medical and sports science professionals in Scotland and the Scottish Government Public Health Directorate. Targeting overweight 35-65 year old males, each club will deliver a 12 week course with sessions being split between classroom health education and physical activity training. Shona Robison, Minister for Public Health and Sport commented: “The Scottish Government’s Games legacy plan aims to inspire everyone in Scotland to get involved and take advantage of this unique opportunity to become a healthier nation. “We want to encourage people to make lasting lifestyle changes which will improve their health and football is an ideal catalyst for raising the awareness of the changes people can make, from walking to games, eating healthier, kickabouts in the garden to on the pitch itself.” “The Football Fans in Training initiative offers the perfect opportunity to get men thinking about their health and making changes that will benefit them in the future. I would encourage all those who are interested to get involved and become part of a legacy that Scotland can truly be proud of.” Tony Higgins of the SPL Trust Board said, “Football Fans in Training is the first nationwide health initiative co-ordinated by the SPL Trust. It demonstrates that football clubs are no longer just about 90 minutes on Saturday but recognise their responsibility to involve supporters and the local community throughout the week. With Football Fans in Training, supporters have the opportunity to get closer to their local club, work with professional coaches and make positive changes to their lifestyle.” Ian Penrose, CEO, Sportech PLC, owner and operator of The Football Pools said “We are delighted to be supporting the Scottish Premier League Trust scheme and believe that it will have a positive impact on the lives of football fans and the communities that lie in and around the Clubs. We are fortunate to be in the unique position of supporting the world’s biggest sport through our Pools products. The company has invested over £1.1billion into football and other good causes throughout its 87 year history. For 25 years, from 1975 to 2000, the Pools companies were one of the only sources of external funding for British football at a time when the game’s wealth was a fraction of what it enjoys today.”
