  1. lets be real about this ... Its Aberdeen, a perpetual top six team, at their home ground in a very tight game .... no panic in losing this one ... a draw or win would have been nice, but it would have been a bonus !!!
  2. If we can snatch this, then it doesnt matter the other scores. Even if we cant, with Falkirk losing at the moment we are a point better off ..... anything from this game is a bonus. Next week (below) is a biggie, as are the 5 weeks after that. Dundee Utd -V- Kilmarnock Falkirk -V- Hearts Inverness CT -V- Hamilton Motherwell -V- St Mirren Hibernian -V- Rangers
  3. Hamilton, Falkirk and Motherwell all losing right now
  4. Odhiambo injured in pre-match warm-up, his spot on the bench now taken by Vigurs
  5. 1 change - Esson for Fraser

  7. And Barrowman scored 29 last season To be fair to Craig Brewster (for a second), he did look far and wide for signings and that included Africa. Eastern Europe, Africa and even the MLS could be good "shopping centres" for us given our likely budget restraints.

I have heard it pronounced "Mo-Ray" and "More-eye-ish" ..... think the latter is correct
  9. Having run a team in the amateur League for many years (when it was still affiliated to the SAFA), and a member of the local committee for about 3 or 4 years, I can tell you that the yearly running costs are substantial. You have park fees, referee fees as well as costs for transportation, strips, balls etc and of course the fines for misbehaviour/cards etc !!!! The first thing you will need is a sponsor or a 'pot' of money to get yourself through the first couple of years. I know that all you want to do is play football - as will many people in your team - but don't even think of going into this without some financial plan or it will fail. Not sure if they are still involved as I have been out of it for 6 years but a few names you might want to speak to would be these ..... Ardersier FC - Mike Docherty. You might already know him as you live in the village. Inverness Amateur League - George Davidson - head of the IDAFA for many years and even when I was on the committee, he was the driving force in organising everything and also in trying to stop the governing body (SAFA) from adding ridiculous new charges every year. He was still head a couple of years ago when the IDAFA split from the SAFA and affiliated with the Welfare mob. http://www.inverness-courier.co.uk/news/fu...ssociation.html. You can get George's contact details from this link http://www.hotfroguk.co.uk/Companies/Inver...all-Association (tell him I said hello ) Inverness Amateur League (Harlequin) - David "Dougal" McDougall - Another stalwart of the IDAFA but according to the article above, he was thinking of forming a small league which would still be affiliated to the SAFA. Not sure if he succeeded.
  10. At the end of the day, its a toughie. I am Scottish with no other nationalities in my heritage. My wife is Canadian with both Scottish and Nigerian in her heritage so any child of ours would immediately qualify to play for Canada, Scotland or Nigeria regardless of the country they were born in. Is a Scot any less Scottish because they live in another country ? Does the child of that Scot have any less Scottish heritage than the child of another nationality who was born or lives in Scotland ? Should a child born in Scotland to parents from elsewhere be forced to choose Scotland ? I don't think so. We are all in a melting pot and multi-culturalism is a reality so we have to deal with the fact that its not a simple black or white answer and that there will be shades of grey all along the way. Personally, I would be happy (and proud) for any child of mine to represent any country they were eligible for and which they felt most affiliated with .... I would hope that would be Scotland, but at the end of the day it would not be up to me. I have no problem in "Scots" being classed as Scots either through birth or through their parents or grandparents but would stop it there in terms of blood relations. I would however go further and say that anyone who has lived in Scotland for 'X' number of years could also be considered eligible if they have not been capped elsewhere. If a person is eligible to get UK citizenship, then they should be eligible to play for the nation within the UK they are living in.
  11. According to "PolTran" website ...... Powitanie do *Tulloch* Kaledoński Stadion
  12. I have split off the off-topic nationality posts into their own thread. please keep this one within the realms of the topic title and description.
  13. I assume you are referring to Charlie Christie who left us after three games of the 07/08 season. It is hardly comparable to the club removing Brewster after 22 league games of the 08/09 season with a W5-D2-L15 record which was significantly worse than any other manager (Charlie had a W11-D13-L14 record the previous season). Anyhoo, thats getting off topic. suffice to say that in a way I am happy he is scoring a few goals ....or at least 'not that bothered'. Regardless of what anyone thought of Brewster the manager, I dont think anyone on here ever doubted the ability of Brewster the player. It is however frustrating that a mere few weeks after getting the dunt from ICT, he turns up at county as a player. Many would have loved to see him pull on an ICT shirt when still manager as he could potentially have been his (and our) own saviour. His managerial record was so much better when he was on the park than on the sidelines. I guess the fear of damaging his shoulder receded when he had to earn a crust ........ that is understandable. Frustrating, but understandable. The silver lining in all of this is that although I believe that Brewster the player would undoubtedly have strengthened us, he may still have struggled to save us from relegation, but I believe Butcher will with a little room to spare. 10 games in and a W5-D2-L3 record ... pretty decent !!!
  14. He has only reffed us twice in 2 years .... and we won both times !
  15. To get back on topic ........ IMHO, Ferguson is and always has been a 'ned'. I totally agree that he should never represent his country again, and neither should McGreggor. I have no problem with them drinking after the Holland game ... it was not very professional with another game coming up in a few days time, but it was certainly not the first, and probably not the last time it will happen with a group of young sportsmen who come from a country with a drinking culture like ours. I understand that sitting on the bench was pretty much going to be the extent of their punishment for this until the V-sign incidents ..... as innocuous as that may be to some, I strongly agree that it brings the Scottish team into disrepute and you could not throw these to$$ers far enough as far as I am concerned. McGreggor seems genuinely distraught at getting his ban, but I suspect that the thing that will hit Ferguson the most is being stripped of the Rangers captaincy as that is and always has been his dream. I never thought I could write the next sentence, but WELL DONE to all at Rangers for quick and decisive action in backing up the SFA decision by issuing club fines and banning the players for a couple of weeks. Whilst it is suggested that George Burley may not have the respect of the squad, this action by Rangers, along with the stripping of Ferguson's captaincy for both club and country has sent out a strong message that backs up both him and the SFA.
  16. Its hard to say ...... assuming we stay up, and can persuade some of the players on short term contracts to stay (Morais, Mihadjuks, Kerr, Foran etc) then we are probably looking at a #2 keeper, a LB and a RB and maybe an experienced or proven striker. Keeper - Fraser is away and Esson needs competition for his place so thats a no-brainer LB - Lionel has made a few more errors than is acceptable in recent games and Richard is in the twilight of his career. Both can still do a job but if someone better is available then we have to snap them up. RB - Rossco - although we love him to bits - he also needs competition to stay on his toes. Proctor isnt providing that. Striker - Rooney will come good I think and although we have Imrie & Morais in addition to Wood and Barrowman, we need someone who can score regularly at this level. I guess it depends on who goes down as to who/whether we could afford someone from the relegated team. Black - We will be sorry to see him go but I think we have a decent replacement in Vigurs so that doesnt concern me so much. We also have Kerr (if he stays), Duncan, McBain etc so we could absorb the loss of Blackie.

  20. looking at this season, TB has been in charge for 9 games and his stats are: P9 W4 D2 L3 F9 A7 Win%=44.4 Draw%=22.2%, L%=33.3% Brewster was in charge for 26 games this season and his stats were: P26 W7 D3 L16 F27 A42 Win%=26.9 Draw%=11.5%, L%=61.5% So while the "honeymoon period" may be over with the bad result(s) against Falkirk, TB and MM have undoubtedly started to turn us around. I dont think the performance against Falkirk was acceptable, but I am sure that TB/MM know that as well as we do and probably more. By the same token, one bad result is not the end of the world so long as we learn from it and make progress. Under CB I have real fears it would have been classed as someone else's fault (the world class goal, the bad decisions, or some other Bull****) but I am sure that TB and MM will actually learn from these mistakes, will point out these things to players and will ensure we get enough points between now and the end of the season to stay up.
  21. As I understand it, Jailender.com is the website and overthebridge.info is the forum. They were once completely separate but sort of merged to become one. The forum will "remain on line for for a good few months yet" according to the owner and he also says that he "hope(s) that the forum can continue in some way". I hope he can achieve that somehow. Taking all the uncertainty aside, I can completely understand, sympathise and empathise with his decision and how hard it must have been after 9 years. We have been running for 15 in one guise or another and when we pulled the plug a while back for a few days to stop and deal with the rampant abuse that was increasing exponentially on what seemed like a daily basis, it was one of the hardest decisions we have ever made. I think it proved to be the right one. We came out of it stronger, with a new more balanced moderation team, and with those fans that caused the problems either gone or equipped with a new awareness that every action has consequences. Since our voluntary hiatus for that few days myself and Don have focussed more on development than moderating, primarily because we feel we have a good balance in attitude and opinion within our moderating team, and also because we have what we regard as two excellent senior mods (Mantis / GringoSR) who we trust to deal with any conflicts in a sensible manner. Personally, I much prefer the action of getting my hands on a developmental copy of the site, looking at it, and trying to tweak it or figure out how I can make it better, than the daily grind of moderator duties or issuing warnings, but its all part and parcel of running a site. We (mods and admin) dont always get it right, but then again neither do posters !!! I think we all realise that, even those posters we seem to argue with from time to time. However, to be positive about it, I think one sign that things have definitely improved from those dark days was the fact that during the whole Brewster saga, there was less abuse and less moderation required than there ever was when we had to take the site offline a couple of seasons ago when there was no big story happening. On another note, I would like to see us get to the next level and that is to get participation from more fans in other areas of the site to make us truly a "community" site ..... We welcome story submissions from fans, we welcome match reports from fans, we would like more fans to maybe make more use of the blog/gallery or other parts of the site ..... its the site users who will shape the site as it moves forward ... and that is one of the huge benefits we got when we stopped being official and reverted back to being an independent site.
