Pavels
didnt realise we had lost one ? TFC has Sutton (#1 choice), Frei (picked up in this year's draft) and Edwards (picked up in last year's draft) in the squad and of the other keepers we had last year, Djekanovic (pool* keeper) went to Vancouver and is now in Montreal, Monsalve (pool keeper) went to a local 'junior' side then was last heard of on trial at Lillestrom and Stamatopolous went back to Tromso at the end of his loan period. * note: Because MLS "owns" the players, pool keepers are "emergency" keepers who are assigned by MLS to train with certain teams and can be called up by any side in MLS if they have a goalkeeping emergency ... Toronto had problems last year when Sutton was injured and used both Djekanovic and Monsalve before getting Stamatopolous in on loan. Of the current TFC side, I could see Marvell Wynne and Abdus Ibrahim moving to Europe next .... Wynne (my favourite TFC player) is about ready and is a RB with blinding speed. Ibrahim is a raw 17 year old who made his debut for the USA U-17s two years ago and who is now getting regularly picked for the USA U-20 team.

Pavels
so make the suggestion (in private via email) ... whats the worst that can happen .... the club ignore you or decline the player
-
Pavels
no problem with fans making suggestions .... especially those in far flung places where we have no hope of ever scouting. so long as the club make the decision through further scouting or investigation and not rely on the word of that fan. In the case of Pavels, the club did this the right way ... they gave the guy a trial and he came through that with flying colours ... signing after only a day or two IIRC. I am sure latviaman sees plenty of decent players, as do other fans. From my own point of view, I have never mentioned a player to the club directly, but if I were to see a decent one when watching Toronto FC who I knew was looking to move to Europe or whose MLS contract was ending, then it might be a different story.

Events
As we are being asked to publicise more and more events by the club, supporters club and supporters' trust (which we are happy to do) and everyone wants them stickied, we have added a new events forum within the announcements category to try and keep the ICT forum from having a heap of pinned items that are not technically ICT football discussions. http://community.caleythistleonline.com/in...hp?showforum=80 Events that have still to happen will be stickied in the events forum and will be unstickied when the event is over. If you want an event added to that forum please ask one of the mods/admins as these are the only ones who can start threads in that forum. the reply function in that forum is enabled for users to ask qquestions about the events.

Pavels
I have disagreed with Harry a lot in recent months but have to say that this time I think he is 100% spot on. Pavels has been great since coming in and we need to keep him if we can. Offer him a deal that is worth signing and build in some get-out clauses for player and club alike in the event that we go down (which we wont).

Rangers -v- Ict : Matchnight Thread
Just watched the highlights ...... I LOVE my VPN connection :thumb04: and have to say we looked like we were on the defensive for most of the game (selective editing? or were we indeed on the back foot as much as the highlights show?). Have to say it looked like a great team performance whether it was Esson's crucial stops, Granty's goal-line clearance, Black's composure in the last seconds, or many other moments. We havent ground out a result like that in as long as I can remember .... all credit to the lads. Enjoy the Pizza and Lucozade

Terry Butcher Appreciation Thread
I cant be ersed finding my previous comments, but I mentioned way back in the dark days that although Robbo would have been my first choice I would also be happy with Terry because of what he achieved at Motherwell in even more difficult circumstances than ours (administration) and how he interacted with people. Terry (and Maurice) have not let any of us down. The belief is back, the pride is back (on and off the pitch) and he is like a breath of fresh Highland air. His media skills are there for all to see and listening to his comments are enjoyable whether we win, draw or even lose. His comments are honest - praise where its due or saying it wasnt good enough when it wasnt ... none of this world class goal bull**** or the likes. It was scary a few weeks back, I was losing the will to listen to games or to read threads on here (and judging by our page-views so were quite a few others !) ..... but thats on an upward swing again just like the team. Terry .... From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU for rescuing us from the depths of despair and for making us (players and fans alike) believe again. We might not qualify for Europe just yet, but I am more confident every week that you can save us from the drop.

Now that I am home from work, the Toronto ICTSC will also be celebrating ..... a wee peedie (Highland Park of course) and a couple of tins of Lager (Alexander Keiths) to go alongside my Pasta ..... and the joy of thinking what fun I will have when I "accidentally" bump into a few of the guys at work tomorrow who support Rangers

Interesting to see that Maurice Edu starts for Rangers .... former Toronto FC midfielder. Young and hungry and a good player but could be a weak point if put under pressure.

Needs Further Debate
I am content with Lionel for now. I do tend to agree that there is the potential for him to have a mare sometime and cost us, but that is true of any player in the side. He seems to have gained confidence from Butcher and listening on the radio there seem to be more occasions where he is being lauded for a good tackle than lambasted for errors in his recent run. If Butcher is picking the side on merit then we cant really argue with that. If Lionel screws up, then Hastings will come back in. Butcher was at pains to make it clear that reputation means nothing and there is competition everywhere. I like that more than picking favourites. As for Rooney - he has only started 8 games and yes, he has been in the starting 11 when we have won (against Falkirk away) and also scored our only goal in several matches during our long run of defeats.

Craig Brewster Well Done
I really dont care how Brewster does from now on in .... as a player or as a manager. However, it does stick in the throat somewhat that we had a striking problem for a long time and yet he wasnt prepared to field the man who was probably still our best striker .... himself. We all bought into the shoulder problem as the reason - and I still believe that was valid - but it still amazes me that barely a week or two after he has been sacked, he is prepared to risk that shoulder in a very physical league against teams which are very close to the same standard as the bottom half of the SPL. I suppose we should look on the bright side though .... Brewster the player may have once again saved the neck of Brewster the manager !

Ict -v- Motherwell : Matchday Thread
hey, the bubble had to burst sometime ..... however, no criticism from me ... we were playing a team in the top half of the table, a good goal won the game, and as the commentators said a number of times, the ICT fighting spirit is back ..... This is nothing like a "Brewsteresque" result ... we went 1-0 down and then scored an equaliser, that would not have happened under Brewster. We went 2-1 down and tried, tried, tried to make it 2-2 that would not have happened under Brewster. Butcher cant win every game, but the fight, effort, and pride is back ...... Read this article to see how TB is the complete opposite of CB..... http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/football/spl/...86908-21159529/

Caledonian Stadium Pitch Rating
Just to comment on a couple of things mentioned .... Uneven? Our pitch has always been uneven ! It is about 6-8 inches higher at the centre circle than it is on each wing. This is by design, not accident. It helps with drainage and also alows the ball to run better to the wings. Partly worn? I guess it could be and as SMEE says, the commentators have mentioned it a few times today. I remember Tommy telling me a few years ago that adding the undersoil heating had completely f***** up what was recognised as one of the best surfaces in Scotland. There is little or nothing Tommy can do to rectify this as he has to be careful not to damage the undersoil equipment.
