radio just mentioned Barry, Rooney and Barrowman all starting. I am guessing we will start with the same team that finished the game in midweek.

These used to be the fixturing "golden rules" ....... and for the SPL, they actually seemed to make sense !!! Opening 33 Match Schedule No Club will start with 2 home matches or 2 away matches No Club will finish with 2 home matches or 2 away matches No Club will play more than 2 home matches or 2 away matches in succession The first 11 fixtures should be reversed to provide the next 11 fixtures and reversed again to provide the final 11 fixtures Celtic and Rangers must be perfect opposites (when one is at home the other is away) Hearts and Hibernian must be perfect opposites Dundee (when in the SPL) and Dundee United must be perfect opposites "Derby" fixtures should not be played on the same day Of the 10 non-Old Firm Clubs, 5 should play Celtic twice at home and once away whilst the other 5 should play Rangers twice at home and once away In each set of 11 fixtures a Club should have 5 home matches and 6 away matches or vice versa ? this will ensure that after 33 fixtures each club will have played 16 home matches and 17 away matches or vice versa In any two seasons Club A should play Club B at home on 3 occasions and away on 3 occasions Final 5 Match Schedule Each Club should play 3 home matches and 2 away matches or vice versa Where possible each Club should play a total of 19 home fixtures and 19 away fixtures during the Season Where possible and subject to seeding each Club should play the other 5 Clubs in its section such as to ensure that 2 home matches and 2 away matches have been played against these other 5 Clubs No Club should finish the Season with 2 home matches or 2 away matches

I don't blame Brewster for the Wyness situation - my understanding is that the agent asked for more money at the end and got told where to go. Whether that situation could have been salvaged is anyone's guess. Only those involved know for sure. If thats the story with Rankin, then fair play, I agree with that too although some of the other stories set the scene a little differently. Tough or Naive ? I guess it depends on which story you believe. With Black, I think we all know he needed to be calmed down a bit and for the most part he seems to have done that (and become a better player in the process). Perhaps Brewster's psychology on that front worked too ? Marius situation - nothing to do with Brew - it was all above his level. So these things cant be used as pointers to get rid in my mind .... my biggest bugbear is what I have been going on about for a while now .... CONSISTENCY. We need some and we dont have any. If he can find a way to make us more consistent (and no, that doesnt mean winning every game, it means competing in them all and winning or losing on merit) then I will be far more inclined to move towards the "pro" camp.

Are you serious ? Sorry, not getting at you, but please name me one player from the modern era who could/can play in every position on the field .... and lets make it a tad easier and say every outfield position.

oh man, i just wish i could take half of the main stand and drop them in section 113 at a Toronto FC game (look it up on youtube - 113 toronto fc u-sector etc) ..... maybe that would bring back some of the passion and let people enjoy themselves .... its an absolute blast ..... mind you, some attractive football and consistent results would also help

Hibs have signed Jonatan Johansson from Swedish club Malmo. Methinks this might be a decent move .......... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ian/7728021.stm

We dont need to be winners all the time to be consistent. The level of effort can also be consistent. We are not the best side in the SPL we are a mid to bottom half team. There are certain games however that we should be competing fiercely in and we do not seem to be doing that. I can actually accept being beaten by any other team in the SPL but only if it is on merit. Its not the fact that we lost a game that sticks in most people's craws, its the nature of that loss. The fact of the matter is that we have not won 2 back to back league games since April. I dont care who each individual poster blames for this, whether it be Brewster with his chopping and changing of tactics and personnel, or the players themselves ..... or a bit of both, the bottom line is that consistent inconsistency is worrying in the extreme .... Opening day - we beat Aberdeen ... the best possible start and a great performance, the next week we lose at home to Hamilton in an instantly forgettable game strewn with errors. We then got a draw with Hibs with both teams looking scrappy before going to Falkirk and coming back from a goal down to win 2-1 in a game we dominated. Then we lose at home to St Mirren because we didnt turn up for the second half and to Hearts in the next game because we couldnt put the ball in the back of the net !!! Never mind, with such a bad run, we go out and win the next game against Kilmarnock 3-1 with an excellent performance before slumping at Tannadice the following week in another poor game. Then Celtic come calling and despite losing, we fight and battle for everything and put in a performance that was probably worth at least a point. The Motherwell game was a bit of a lottery due to the conditions, but the following week came THAT Rangers game !!! nuff said. Not to worry, after being rodgered royally at Ibrox, we put in a good performance at Easter Road and come out deserved winners. Which brings us to last night where we handicap ourselves by playing a training match for the first 45 and only start playing when we go to 4-4-2 and bring on the subs ......

Strachan described Cervi (the American) as a "two year project" suggesting that he would either become backup to Mark as and when Boruc left, or perhaps take over the #1 role with Mark staying as #2. If Boruc stays, then I can see Mark being pushed out at the end of his contract as the 6' 6" Cervi is highly rated and was recently drafted into the US national team ....... Has he been given a work permit yet ? Last I heard, he was trying to prove his Italian heritage so he could be classed as Euro citizen because he failed to meet visa requirements. Fox was reserve keeper last night and Cervi is not on the Celtic squad list on the SPL website.
