  1. In Canada, which in areas is a huge melting pot of ethnicities, backgrounds and heritage, surviving members of the two world wars (think there is only 1 person left from WWI now though) stand side by side irrespective of which side they fought on. Veterans from many countries that now call Canada home are permitted, even encouraged to participate in remembrance of their forefathers.
  2. I have been doing a little number crunching on the old spreadsheet, it makes interesting reading. In terms of "winning-est seasons", this one is right down there at the bottom along with Robbo's start to SPL life at Pittodrie. In fact, in both that season (04/05) and this season (08/09) the managers had almost identical stats with Robbo's side having scored one less goal in total. However, I feel that Robbo had the twin excuses of playing our home games at Pittodrie and the fact we had just been promoted to the SPL. Robbo also oversaw our 2nd and 5th most succesfull managerial periods whereas Brew only gets into the chart at 12, 13, 16 and 18 Robbo Brewster The cause for concern here for me seems to be the dramatic drop in wins. nearly 40% last year, 28% this year !!! Winning % by season Here's the full sheet
  3. I have worked for a few different managers in my life and can honestly say that when I worked for a manager I didnt like, who was not very good, or who was overly officious, there were times when i did "just enough" or "went through the motions" .... When I had good managers I was (and am) far more productive.
  4. Its a shame and I wish his family well in their time of grief. In football terms, he was a bit of an enigma. He seemed like a decent enough bloke when he was "in to it", getting Gretna up the leagues, getting to the cup final and even helping out some of the ICT fans with T-Shirts I seem to remember. Yet when he lost interest, presumably due to his failing health, a team also died and that will always be a postscript on his obituary.
  5. Pea and Ham, from a chicken? Now that's clever! ...."no.... that'll pee the pea and ham...." (There aren't actually going to be too many on here who have a clue what we're talking about here!) seem to remember there was something about a hen night in Inverness too anyhoo, back to Barry. If he wants a new deal, give it to him. We have so much inexperience in our team that an old head is required even if it is only for short spells. He can also impart what amounts to a wealth of knowledge and experience to the younger players.
  6. Cincinatti is not that warm (in winter at least).
  7. I do remember a similar game at the Shyberry against Airdrie. I had just flown in from Toronto (before I moved here permanently), was picked up at Glasgow Airport by ITN and ITN Jr, and we headed for the game. We were destroyed that day ... it was 6-0 in the end, and a bad day all round.
  8. some interesting names Kirishima Iain Stewart - kind of unsure of this one. Not sure about the circumstances of his departure from Peterhead ? Barry Wilson - I would be up for that - in conjunction with an older head to guide him (such as his dad) Bobby Mann - I would love to see Bobby back at the club but not as manager in his own right. Perhaps with a mentor as described for Barry John McGinlay - not much of an ICT connection (his brother Dave played for us), and not sure of his managerial pedigree Paul Ritchie - great player but is he a manager .... where have we heard of a great goalscorer not being able to manage a team before !!! Paul Sheerin - This one intrigues me. but again, with a mentor. Lower divisions - Baikie - don't know much about him Chisholm - recently signed 2 year deal at QOS, big compo required, QOS refused Dundee permission to talk to him the other week. O' Neill - doing well at Brechin but was "happy" his club refused to let Dundee speak to him. McInnes - don't know much about him Cormie - don't know much about him Of your "wildcards", again I dont have much knowledge of them but would have to be very wary of both Malpas and Lambert who did badly in Scotland before. The one thing that is certain, is that IF anything happens and that is a HUGE 'if', then whoever is in contention will be an "economical" choice. It will not be a person looking for a huge wage or contract so it would likely be someone trying to get a foot in the management door such as Barry, someone looking to move up slightly from current job such as a lower division manager (who doesnt require huge compo to his club) or someone who has been out of the game for a while and looking to get back in (like Jocky Scott was).

    Proctor

Proctor is a decent young player and has covered well (when fit) at both right back and (less so) in central defence. To throw the guy back in, in his less favoured position, after a long term injury, and at Ibrox to boot, was a bad decision IMHO, not least because Duff has had the SPL experience this season and has not made too many howlers. What next? Esson on the right wing, Barry in goals and Rosscoe as the lone striker ?
  10. totally agree, but I just had to add this picture !!!
  11. To those who say its just us on this site trouble making ..... this should speak volumes about how other diehards feel. Who they choose is immaterial, the fact that there is even a discussion taking place at all is enough !!!
  12. Has he actually passed his pro license ?
  13. You cant rely on "rub of the green" in every single game !!! In most you need tactics and a gameplan and not be scared to change things around if it doesnt work. We seen unwilling or scared to do that. We occasionally play attractive football, when we leave it on the deck. Funnily enough, we tend to win when its on the deck. Unfortunately however, it seems that most of the time we play the 'HOOF' and we dont have the height or strength for that. We last won two back to back league games in April. Before that it was Nov/Dec 07 when we won 4 in a row. On the other hand we have now lost 4 league games in a row, and last season lost 7 in a row and went 10 games without a win (L8, D2) during Jan/Mar. Realistically we should have competed but not have been surprised to lose by the odd goal. 5-0 is an embarrassment. It is the record defeat in the SPL so far this season. We should certainly move on, but forgetting is not a good or acceptable idea.
  14. You should have seen it about 3:25pm (UK time)
  15. think its the same audio as we have on here http://caleythistleonline.com/images/stori...T_011108_CB.mp3 BREW http://caleythistleonline.com/images/stori...T_011108_WS.mp3 SMITH
  16. Assuming that something happens with Brewster (jumps/pushed), I would like to see the likes of Barry and Charlie - two stalwarts of our club, and guys who are literally "in with the bricks" working alongside an experienced headcoach. I always thought Barry's dad was quite good and he got royally shafted at County. Not sure if management still interests him, but he could certainly be the old head that relies on the "young" shoulders (managerially speaking) of CC and BW. As much as I hate Rangers, I always like hearing McCoist's enthusiasm for his club .... and that is something I think Barry and Charlie have for ICT. Alternatively, maybe someone like Robbo could come back with these guys as assistants. I am not a fan of returning managers, but Robbo is still a big fan of the club and I think he would get some of that spirit back The big problem we have is money, and I think my suggestions are somewhat realistic on that front too.
  17. Perhaps I am biased, but I dont see that as 11th !!!
  18. Very selective RM ...... how about this one or this one or this one where he was being blamed for things that were not his fault Brewster is in charge of the team, but he is not in charge of contracts, that falls to the Director of Football and the Board. I am sure he can make recommendations or requests in this regard but the final decisions and much if not all of the negotiations take place upstairs as it were. or maybe this one However, thanks to yourself and the erudite Mr Legend I can certainly see now that I have been totally blinkered at his supreme excellence and suitability for the task at hand and will cease immediately. Being serious ..... At the end of the day, NO, I did not want him back in the first place but I have also NOT been consistent in being one of the anti-Brew brigade which is the charge that has been levelled at me. My opinions have - like an undecided voter - switched back and forth based on events and results. Today, for me was, I feel, the last straw. Considering we dont ask questions of that nature during registration, we have no way of knowing that info and therefore cannot divulge it. I think you have gotten a little uptight about an edit this poster made - perhaps to try and add humour or irony - after he told me to **** off !
  19. Perhaps the other way round !!!
  20. What did he say? And WynessLegend... get a grip! http://caleythistleonline.com/images/stori...T_011108_CB.mp3
  21. I have not called for his head from day one, but I do know when enough is enough. I would love you to give some examples from day one and beyond. I will not say I have always been supportive of him, but certainly not anti-brew from day one. If you believe I have, please substantiate your claims with examples ..... or can your guide dog not work the keyboard. **** off you Canadian ****. Ahh, the old "abuse" repsonse when a reasoned and rational question is asked. Well done. very intellectual debating style.
  22. yeah. dont want to take this off topic so read this article for a good feel of the season. The reporter comes to the pub with us on matchdays and is well respected (fan first, reporter second): http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/sto...ry/WBsoccerblog
  23. I think I can borrow a photo from my Toronto supporting friends that sums it all up. TFC fans want rid of Mo Johnston after a second barren season and the sentiments sum up my opinion about BOTH teams
  24. To be really honest, I do not care. It has been suggested that he lost the dressing room a while back, well he finally lost this fan today and I do not pay much attention, or give much credence to the opinions of those who fall into that category.
