  1. Good idea, it's time we had a bit of a laugh. But I can exclusively reveal (even CaleyD doesn't know this yet and he's the driver :015:) The Innes bus for the Gretna game will be a 'WEAR IT PINK BUS' :rotflmao: Saturday 27th Oct is the annual Wear it Pink day for Breast Cancer. So can you make your fancy dress a pink one. :rotflmao: Aberdeen game is closer to Halloween but I don't know how many will be going to that one. Sorry CaleyD - do you have a pink bus drivers uniform or is that too personal a question. Think Don has it covered ... depending on how many book he has two busses in mind ..... I hear he likes this one for some reason .... [attach=1] but is more likely to end up with this one [attach=2] Matt Lucas also offered him a uniform, but the romper suit was unavailable ..... and for the ladies ..... 2. Plenty of things bug me but here are two....... -- bad drivers: you have seen nothing till you have tried to drive the 401 highway in rush hour. lack of indicating is the least of your worries ! My biggest driving peeve happens to me every day just before I get off the highway and onto normal streets .... and it is drivers who pull out from the right hand lane of traffic onto the merging on-ramp just to try and get a few hundred yards further ahead and then try to force themselves back into the live lane just where the merge lane ends. I need to get off at the next off-ramp so they seriously wind me up ! -- The SPL: The SPL really annoy me on certain things, no standing for one, but I think most people will know my pet peeve is media rights. They held a seminar/conference in the summer to discuss how best to get people overseas interested in the SPL in an effort to increase "football tourism" - ie. those coming to Scotland specifically for a game or who would include a game as part of a visit - yet they constantly try and find ways to block audio and video coverage to those same potential overseas customers. Its not like people in those countries have an alternative or will affect anyone's market. Even though Setanta started broadcasting here recently they confirmed they would seldom if ever show live SPL games on their new domestic channel as the OF games are shown on a specialty channel. They also confirmed that no highlights packages would be shown in Canada despite being shown in the USA
  3. Why doesn't glue stick to the inside of the bottle? In libraries, do they put the bible in the fiction or non-fiction section? Why do supermarkets have so many checkouts when only keep 3 or 4 open? If a doctor suddenly died while doing surgery, would the other doctors work on the doctor or the patient? If there's a wheelchair-bound comedian, is it still called "stand-up"? Why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars, but check when you say the paint is wet? What shape is the sky? If you fart and burp at the same time, would it make a vacuum in your tummy? Why are both of Spongebob's parents round like sea sponges while he is square like a kitchen sponge? You know that little indestructible black box that is used on planes, why can't they make the whole plane out of the same substance? Why is there only ONE Monopolies Commission? Why don't you ever see baby pigeons? Why do we leave expensive cars in the driveway, when we keep worthless junk in the garage? Why is the time of day with the slowest traffic called rush hour?
  4. Cant remember him in either a good way or bad way in any ICT matches ..... BUT from his profile .... Any pet hates in football? Lack of respect for referees and assistants/simulation. so loads of dissent bookings and we better not dive ! What Law of the Game would you change? None. Feck, gotta be bad when someone is happy with them all !!! The most difficult Law to apply? Law 11. Law 11 is offside so there are either going to be offside goals or play pulled back for bad decisions ! Checking Soccerbase, seems to back that initial impression up .... season 2007/08 [attach=1] season 2006/07 [attach=2] According to Soccerbase he has refereed ICT 4 times since 98/99 01. ICT 2-2 Stirling (Div 2 - 10/04/1999) - 2 yellows (both Stirling) 02. Morton 2-0 ICT (Div 1 - 25/11/2000) - 2 yellows (1 for Morton, Xausa for ICT) 03. ICT 3-1 Ayr Utd (Div 1 - 29/09/2001) - 1 yellow (Ayr) 04. ICT 1-1 Ayr Utd (Div 1 - 02/02/2002) - 5 yellows (4 for Ayr, Tokely for ICT) He has plenty games where he has issued anywhere between 3 and 7 yellow cards (especially in SPL) but there was one game (Celtic 1-0 Kilmarnock 27/10/01) where he issued 11 yellow cards !!!
  5. Why would we do that ? The whole article is a factual account of the game and as fan reports often do, it contains details of the atmosphere, ambience and craic from where he was located in the ground.
  6. good post. agree with much of what you say and the signs are indeed encouraging. I want him to succeed because if he does, then so does the club. my reservations were based on his record at DUFC and his "loyalty" comment and both of those he can make us forgive/forget with results. As for anything else .. Warnock/selection process etc, that is not down to him so we cant hold it against him or blame him......
  7. Here is one for this weekend's game - might be a little late but here it is. ICT-Falkirk.pdf
  8. I never saw the photos of his 'contrition' and am not really sure what you are asking about. I dont need to see him down on one knee apologising to all the fans, just to acknowledge that he made a mistake in leaving first time round - which I think he did on the day he was appointed. Like many fans, I was unhappy when he left the first time and similar to Steve Paterson what actually stuck in my craw was not the fact that either of them left for a bigger job or their 'dream job' - that is quite understandable - it was that in days/weeks before in both cases each of them made statements of loyalty to ICT and then buggered off. That is hard to forgive and despite his comments on the day he arrived, it will take time and results for him to earn back the trust and respect he had before in exactly the same way as it took a long time before I (and many other fans) forgave SP ! Are either of them bothered ? I very much doubt it - its just my viewpoint and one I know is held by a good few others.
  9. I was delighted with the goal on Saturday and have never doubted the ability of Brewster the player. I was also happy with last night's result too, and the fact that heads now seem to be up again so he is certainly going in the right direction when compared to his DUFC stint. However it is way too early to fall at his feet and declare undying adulation but if he carries on like this and succeeds in improving my club then yes, I will happily eat my own slice or two of humble pie and say I was wrong. Its no big deal, I get things wrong all the time :004:
  10. I remember Frozen Foods, the Distilleries and various other things from there but most of all from that list I remember Wattie very well, a good family friend and a great guy ....... sadly missed

  21. "powered by sporting life" :023: :023: .... I like the way Sporting Life 'ad-libs' with things like "Inverness CT are in control of the match. Key player: Russell Duncan"

  24. I just wanted to add ... in addition to my post above, my perceptions of watching Toronto FC this season. A stadium that regularly has crowds of over 20,000 and where alcohol is served during the game either in the concourse or from students going up and down the aisles and pouring it into plastic cups for you. The club owners consulted with fans from the very start ... reaching out to them in October 2006 before the stadium was finished, before the team had been built or manager had been appointed. Club officials met with representatives of the various supporters groups and asked how they could work with them to make it a good experience for all. At those meetings, ground rules were agreed and the club also listened to the fans needs/wants. In the end, it was decided that two of the three stands would be 'normal' stands where things like drums, banners, flags etc would not be allowed and where sitting down would be the norm (although standing would not be punished, fans would be encouraged to take their seats !) The third stand - the south stand, holding around 2500 of the 20,000 capacity was designated as the "supporters section" and in this area the club would allow flags, banners, drums, a limited number of loud hailers so chant leaders could start the chants. Furthermore, the club would happily store said equipment at the stadium for the fans and have security staff bring it to the front of that section each gameday. Various club officials regularly go onto the main TFC fan sites and ask/answer questions or listen to the gripes. One big one in the summer was the price of the food. they were ripping people off charging $13 a beer, $6 for a slice of Pizza, $5 for a burger etc but the one that got fans most worked up was $4 for a small bottle of water. It was quite hot this summer and many people at some games suffered heatstroke (myself included). After this was raised on the message boards, the club halved the price of the water in most concession stands (even if the ripoff prices remain for the other stuff !!!) During games we stand, sing, chant, throw streamers and generally enjoy ourselves. There has been little confrontation and those very limited incidents I have witnessed where fans have been ejected or arrested have been the fans' own fault ... smoking in the stands, throwing coins or (plastic) bottles onto the pitch, 1 streaker (who soiled himself after being tackled by the police), 1 person who invaded the pitch and was arrested, the odd supporter lighting 'highway flares' (not throwing them - although one did and it burnt the plastic pitch !) ...... and thats pretty much the total of it all from 13 or 14 home games with 20K+ at each of them. The club, for the most part, have a good relationship with the supporters (TFC fans grumble too). However, it is clear to all supporters that club policy is that if you commit any of the 'crimes' I listed above your season ticket is revoked and as there is a two year waiting list for new season tickets it pretty much means you are screwed ! Also, anyone arrested is banned from the stadium (not sure if its sine-die or not). The club apply this policy consistently throughout the stadium.
  25. When I left Inverness, we were still in the first division and craic/banter from the stands was allowed, enjoyed and even encouraged. From my vantage point right above the tunnel I used to joke constantly with John Sutherland who was responsible for the matchday security and would stand (:018:) in the tunnel area and we would all try to enjoy it. When an inappropriate comment came from me, Stu, Calum, Doresboy, Shiner or some of the others in that area he would just give us a look or a waggng finger (while laughing) and get on with it. no threats of arrest, no stewards charging up the aisles to eject us, just a man we all respected indicating to us we may have stepped over the line and us acknowledging that and toning it down. He treated us with respect, earned ours and there were no problems. ****, we even stood up for parts of the game trying to get the crowd going. I had heard fans of other "small" teams who had yo-yoed between divisions saying that the SPL was not enjoyable and it seems that this is proving to be the case. Not only do fans have to shell out ridiculous prices for entry but the football establishment in general seems to have forgotten that it is in the entertainment business and while the main source of entertainment is hopefully on the pitch, the overall ambience of the stadium and the attitude of the staff (be they club staff, stewards or police) all adds to (or takes away from) the overall experience. Football fans are about the most loyal customers any business can have. They start supporting their club usually at an early age and that "brand loyalty" tends to stay with them their whole life. Despite ticket, merchandise and other prices, they are not going to switch brands just because a rival brand is cheaper ! However, like any business that relies on customers, if you treat them badly they will (eventually) become ex-customers. It may take a lot more for a footie fan to reach that stage but it can, does and will happen. ICT are in a no-win situation in some respects. They are in the SPL and as a member of the SPL have to agree to the rules and conditions of entry/membership. I agree with those that say the rules are farcical (in places) but at the end of the day ICT are forced to comply with them. If I can pick holes in ICT at all, it is in the consistency of the application of these rules and we have all seen comments where people have given examples of differences between what happens in the home areas and in the south stand. That is the gripe with ICT. As for the rules themselves, that gripe has to be placed firmly at the door of the football authorities and it is them who should be pressured into making them more fan-friendly either through sites such as standupsitdown or through the relevant supporters' trusts of each member club. Nothing will change unless fans of all clubs join forces to make it change and some brave or forward thinking club chairmen decide to listen ........
