Assuming your username is based on location, I think our man Gringo might be able to help you out with some advice there, he's nearby in Coventry Nil ! His advice may be train related, but you can also get to Inverness by air from Birmingham, Leeds or Manchester via Eastern Airways http://www.easternairways.com/content/view/112/551/ or from East Midlands airport via Ryanair .......

I think there has to be a middle ground somewhere. I really have swayed on this whole thing since it was first talked about, thinking one day he should be sacked and on other days that he should be supported. I still dont know how I would handle it if I had to make the final decision and thats primarily because I like Richie Hart the ICT player, and dont think he needs to be crucified if he has exhibited remorse over the event. I have read postings from both sides of the argument and even made postings on both sides of the argument and still I cant decide how I would handle it .... No matter what happens, its a hard decision for the club and whichever way they go they will get equal amounts of praise and condemnation from various sources as will the player. I guess the final decision will depend on what he says internally to his bosses. We can all have our various opinions, some more factually based than others, but what matters most is what he says to the club and how much remorse and honesty they think he is displaying to them. We all know that regardless of what he says to the media, that they can cherry pick comments to slant the article one way or another if they choose to do so so there are none of us that can say with any certainty that he is not showing remorse. The media, and even the club statement, have made it sound like he did not display total honesty when the incident was first reported but what matters is how honest and remorseful he has been to them since the event. Has he apologised in private? has he himself offered to do any community work? has he offered to be part of any help or awareness groups? Has he actually accepted his wrongdoing? If he has answered yes to a few of those - especially accepting responsibility for his own actions - then maybe there is a way back for him .... As IHE said in an earlier post, he would still have a long road to travel, there is the issue of trust - both with the fans and the club, a quite probable increase in the number of times he would be "randomly" tested, abuse from opposition fans (and possibly some ICT ones), but if he has the balls to say he has made a mistake, learned from it and will not let it happen again then maybe, just maybe we can forgive him. Just remember .... To err is human, to forgive divine. If on the other hand, he is not remorseful, does not accept his role in this incident, and hasnt displayed any remorse then the club have no option ........

perfect. :003: like ICT, Scotland seem to prosper under adversity. Being realistic who amongst us would have dreamed we would be topping the group with two games left and after playing both France and Ukraine twice and Italy once !!!!

cant speak for Wanderer and the other difficulties he may face from his government in getting the BBC on his PC, but in my case, you find that the BBC is very very good in detecting your correct IP address. I have yet to find a proxy that works ..... bear in mind that BBC doesnt use a simple http proxy, it streams its audio and video using rtsp (real time streaming protocol) and I have yet to come across a reliable UK based proxy for that protocol that actually works . ..... getting to the stage where I am thinking of using international dialup to BT or something like that

Our company has a policy of not switching operating systems at least until MS release the first service pack for it !!! The principle being that the first service pack usually gives you the system that MS should have released on launch day instead of the advanced beta version they actually shipped !!! I have Vista ultimate on my new (HP) home system and would strongly recommend people to get something like Norton Ghost or some other backup software. I have always kept off-site (or off-computer) backups of my most precious files like photos, web pages etc but like most IT people, I never bothered backing up my actual system that often, figuring I could troubleshoot and solve most problems. With Vista, certainly at the moment, backups are a necessary evil as I have found quite a few programs have issues with Vista and can screw up the rest of the system. Roxio Easy Media Creator is a prime example (and something Dell, Roxio and MS knew about long before it became a published problem) - it killed my system and I had to spend 3 evenings rebuilding my OS and installing all the software I needed. After that, I made sure I had a base image using Ghost and now allow it to do twice weekly system backups and to backup "my docs" every two days. Its worth it !!! If my system ever screws up again, I now have a base image of the computer with all my crucial software pre-installed and several incremental backups that could be restored so its like it was a day or two earlier.

Glad to hear it. CC has always been a big part of ICT and it would have been a shame to lose him altogether. Well done to all concerned in keeping him at the club.

So to summarise this thread ......... [li]He is not the first player to have been convicted of possessing drugs[/li] [li]Most of us agree it was a stupid thing to do[/li] [li]Most of us agree he probably isnt a habitual drug user[/li] [li]Some feel he should be dismissed[/li] [li]Some feel he should be given another chance[/li] [li]Some (like me) change their mind every 5 minutes as our heart/head battle it out[/li] [li]Some think he has shown remorse[/li] [li]Some think he has not[/li] [li]Most noticed the tough stance in the club's press release[/li] [li]Many noticed the club put corporate sponsors ahead of fans in the press release[/li] [li]Many will be unhappy with the decision no matter what it is.[/li]

Are Tokyo shirts produced by Adidas by any chance ? The reason I ask is because all MLS shirts seem to be produced by Adidas and the current "flavour of the month" seems to be "swooshing" ..... Toronto ..... Houston ..... Columbus ..... and finally one in red and blue ..... Real Salt Lake !

Aha ..... so it was the strips that confused him :015:

Look out for the spin-off series .... LA Ink - even weirder !

Yes it did, but the full post also narrowed it down to ICT .... and I (and others) answered as an ICT fan !!! I think I can also say I was echoing the opinion of a large number of our supporters with the opinion I expressed as this has been debated here before and that was pretty much the consensus. I have no doubt that some of the stuff that was shouted at him or that he had to endure in the street from certain sections of people in Glasgow was very probably bilious sectarian hatred of the worst kind but he is not the first, nor will he be the last, Rangers or Celtic player to receive that treatment from the other side. It doesnt make it right, but I have neither the will or the desire to get on my soapbox about his treament by fans of another club. If it was ICT related, perhaps, but it is not. ICT fans dislike him because of things he does on the field, not off it. He didnt dive for a penalty against us, he feigned injury to make it look like Juanjo had hit him resulting in the wee man getting sent off and quite possibly affecting the outcome of the match. When video evidence exonerated Juanjo and the SPL took absolutely no action against him, he didnt even have the balls to apologise for being a cheat. If he was wearing ICT colours at the time I would still be less than impressed with him although I do admit I might have been more forgiving, but the plain and simple fact is that none of it has anything to do with his place of birth or religion !
-
Lets not play the religion card !! I agree that for some people in certain locations that might indeed be the case but Caley Thistle fans dislike him for one main reason and that is because he cheated and got one of our players sent off and when it was shown he had, the SPL took no action against him at all. nothing more and certainly nothing to do with his nationality or religion.

sounds like a fair comment - hadn't looked at it in quite that that way .....

more a case of ghoulies rather than ghosties then :015:

Thats what pushed me into the "P45" camp ..... I have openly said I have no idea what the right decision is at various points in the thread but the quotes in the HN make it sound like he hasnt accepted wrongdoing while at the same time admitting to purchasing an illegal class "A" drug ........ You cant have it both ways, and that excerpt does not sound like someone apologising for stupid behaviour, but someone looking for an excuse. My heart says give him a chance but when you take everything together it looks very difficult to find a way to do that .......
-
Did he ? You have the benefit of more media availability than me but the only thing I have read about drug testing was what you posted earlier .... "I have never tested postitive for any drugs" ... it didnt say when he was last tested or whether that test was random or scheduled ? Hardly a fair comparison. we are not and never have been paid employees of the club ... not even when the site was official and I would say that 99% of the posting members here fall into that category too. very true, and some of us can accept responsibility for them. Very little of that goes on now - the favoured route recently seems to be jail ! The most recent athlete to be involved in a scandal (running a dog-fighting ring), Michael Vick is being absolutely vilified in the media and is currently being sued by numerous banks and corporations for the return of money/loans as well as his employers suing him for part of his contract monies and thats before he actually gets sentenced in December ! He suggested he could do some work for PETA which was laughed at by most of the population ! I respect your right to support him, and to express your view, just cannot agree with you based on what I have read so far.

How magnanimous !!! Grudgingly accepting that he had to plead guilty after saying HE BOUGHT the drugs for ?40 ...... :symbol_exclaim01: :symbol_exclaim01: :symbol_exclaim01: Even if we were to believe/accept that others in his company that night may have used the rest of the drug and he was possibly preparing "the remainder" for subsequent use by himself or others as implied by the BBC article, the simple fact is that he has now admitted that he bought it, yet seems to think it is unfortunate that he has had to plead guilty. I was switching back and forth from the "support" camp to the "sack" camp earlier but that does it for me. The purchase and/or possession of the drug IS an offence whether you have used it or not and for him to think it unfortunate that he had to plead guilty shows there is little remorse other than the fact of being caught. If he had come out and said something like "sorry, it was a stupid mistake and I accept my actions were wrong" then maybe, just maybe there would have been a route back but not now ...... :sillywave: :sillywave:

Heard about that one .... "Rhyl" wasnt it

Are you qualified in IHE's profession and able to make that diagnosis ? If so, then maybe I can reinstate the comment. but to call someone a junkie, a liar, and a lunatic in the space of three sentences is over the top. If you have a problem with the moderation of this thread please contact one of the moderators of this board (as listed above) or myself using one of the methods laid down in the terms of site use. and to answer your question ... he didnt drive off, so "what if" scenarios are redundant !
