At the end of the day I am firmly in the red/blue stripes camp. That is our identity.Whether you like it or not, Red/Black/Blue/White are the founding colours of our club and our home kit should always reflect that fairly. Google 'Barcelona Historical Kits' and there are plenty of variations on a theme that stay within those limits and ensure ongoing sales. I am sure the same would probably be true of others who play in red/blue. If you want to experiment with other kits or colours then do so with 2nd kit or 3rd kits .... I dont have all the home kits, but I do have most of them and the ones that get the most positive comments are always the red/blue stripes. The black away kit was a close runner up.

Indeed ... and typically the bulk of the LGBTQ community are more than happy with that. They dont seek to be treated any differently, just the opposite in fact. The problem - and I see it over here too - is that some individuals/organisations/businesses/groups seem to want to try too hard to show they are inclusive and non-discriminatory. I often wonder who they are trying to convince (themselves or others?) or if it is simply a case of self aggrandisement? Insert colour, race, religion, gender or sexuality and the scenarios and conversations are similar, its just the adjectives that change. I would humbly suggest that the best way to move forward is just to remove those adjectives in the first place and just be inclusive without any fanfare !

He is still around on Facebook. He last logged in here in May (after a particular subject interested him I believe). that info and his previous posts are all available on his public profile. He is not banned and the exile is self-imposed.

You are Bagan for a red dot. You are setting the (Marco De) Barros very (Tony) Low.

Those 4 - while good choices - don’t meet the criteria laid down by club (100 appearances).

Its time for Player Sponsorship for the 2019/2020 season. PLAYER TO BE SPONSORED: We have decided to sponsor CAMERON HARPER's Home Top. If we reach additional milestones we will look to add sponsorship for other players for 'lesser' items.: COST The cost still has to be confirmed but last season this was £350+VAT so we are assuming the same. When Emma confirms cost we will update this post. We are also assuming other items are the same as last year so those additional items are listed for reference. If we go well beyond the initial target we will look to sponsor other items as we can. Home Shirt - £350 +vat (420) Away Shirt - £250 +vat (300) Training Top - £100 +vat (120) Boots/Gloves - £100 +vat (120) HOW TO TAKE PART To take part in this sponsorship you will need to upgrade your site membership and join the "Player Sponsor" group. We in turn will use the money received from these memberships (minus paypal fees) to purchase player sponsorships from the club. We will set all memberships - regardless of when ordered - to end on June 1st of each year. This allows us time each year to gauge the interest in continuing for the following season. The cost to join this group is £11.00 (this amounts to £10.00 joining fee plus £1 to cover the aforementioned paypal fees). You may purchase multiple memberships if you wish, just amend the total in your shopping cart and add a note when placing the order if it is to cover family members who may not officially be site members !!! NEW MEMBERS: To join the group simply go to this page http://caleythistleonline.com/store/ or access the CTO Store from the main menu at the top (under shop). All our site membership upgrades are handled securely via Paypal's platform which will accept direct payment from the majority of credit/debit cards so it should be easy enough to upgrade your membership whether you live in Sneck or somewhere thousands of miles from there. RENEWING MEMBERS: You can either use the same process that new members use or, as some have done already when they got a reminder email and invoice, you can do a simple renewal from your account. Go to http://caleythistleonline.com/clients/purchases/ and you should be able to renew from here. If you do not want to renew simply ignore any reminders and you will not be billed. CASH MEMBERSHIPS: We do NOT take cash payments. Everything needs to go through Paypal. Once we know how many members have joined the group, we will make a decision on what gets sponsored. The first item will be the selected player's Home Kit ... but the more members who upgrade to "Player Sponsor" membership, the more we can sponsor. At the end of the season, members of our sponsor group will be selected at random to receive any gifts we may receive from the club. For any events that occur during the season (like sponsors noights or meet and greets etc) we will offer first refusal to members of the sponsor group to attend as our representative. If you are interested, please add your name to this thread or go ahead and join the sponsor group. You will be marked as once we confirm payment received via membership upgrade .... EDIT: As questions are raised in the thread, we will clarify any that need a response below: Technically the payment is listed as a 'subscription' when you pay, but that is internal to this site only and is done this way so that in a year's time it will generate an invoice on here allowing existing members to renew (if they wish) or to let it expire. Renewal (or not) is at the user's discretion and as far as paypal is concerned its a one-off payment and there will be no automatic re-billing from their side.

ok. I am going to close this thread now and start a new one with the details for this year's sponsorship. As no-one has objected then I think it a good idea to stick with our policy of sponsoring the kit of up and coming local lads through their ICT career. We have got lucky with Grant Munro and Liam Polworth, both of whom turned out to be very important and influential players for our club so lets hope Cameron Harper can develop in the same vein .....

For anyone who wishes it I have now attached a copy of the order of service which I was able to scan today. 20190709015917.pdf

When Steve Paterson was boss, it was a running joke on Saturday BBC Scotland football programmes that the ICT job was the safest in football and sacking our manager was as likely as seeing the loch ness monster sitting down for a cuppa at Drum ! We have dispensed with the services of only 3 managers in our history - Baltacha, Brewster and Foran, the rest all resigned or were poached. Robbo did a great job first time round with meagre resources to get us to the (then) SPFL and he seems to be doing a decent job this time with even fewer resources as he tries to get us back up to the Premiership for the second time as our manager. His recruitment seems better than most, he seems to be able to motivate players and if we have deficiencies its because we cant pay the wages right now that we used to in the premiership so perhaps the football is not quite so silky ! On that basis, knowing he is trying to get the best out of what he's got to hand - and assuming his tenure as our boss doesn't implode somehow - then he will do for me as long as he wants it. He's in it for the long haul, and so are we !!
-
Should we have our very own unscientific poll ? We could do one position per week based on the names in the thread and the most popular formation quoted so far (442) .... Only thing different would be to add Herchie I think (for reasons stated earlier). Do this over the next few months and let site users vote .... see how it compares to the official club one when it comes out

Had to take some time away from the site due to a bereavement. Just starting to get back into things now and will try to get things up to date shortly. We have been offered first refusal on sponsoring Cameron Harper next season and I think it could be a good shout ... He fits the bill for our typical player : He is from Inverness and has been in our youth system since he was 11. He has not made too many appearances but did get on the park 4 times last year and has just signed a new 3 year contract. Thoughts / Comments ?

Man, this is hard !!!! after typing this several times and swapping names in and out .... Finally going for a 4-4-2 and assuming each player at the top of his game .... Calder Tokely --- Mann --- Warren --- Shinnie Robson --- Christie --- Tansey --- Wilson Wyness --- Mckay Subs : Esson, Teasdale, Munro, Golabek, Sheerin, Hayes, Stewart

There's a gap in our data on the stats front for some of the earlier seasons (which we hopefully have volunteers to assist with in the coming weeks and months) but based on the data I have here are the players over 100 appearances up to 2007-08 and looking at the data from our stats for players since 2004 (which I know is correct, this is the combined and complete list of players over 100 appearances.) I agree with @hislopsoffsideagain again that there are 47 players on the list. My overall total appearances may be slightly adrift for some of the gaps in our data but I believe this is the full list.

I just wanted to add some comments about the lovely service put on for Ken (and in many respects planned by the man himself before he passed !). Sadly my own mother died the day after Ken so I had to make an impromptu trip back to Scotland to take care of things. Her service was the day before Ken's so I was able to pull things together and go along to pay my own tribute to a man who many people knew even if they didn't realise they did. As many have said, Ken was a lovely man who was present in many lives through business, sport, or other interests (tatties apparently) and you could see that by the sheer number and diversity of the people who attended. There were representatives from business, from shinty, from football, including several former chairmen of ICT and the current one, and from his personal life. Ken was a man with a sense of humour and his casket was brought into the chapel to the strains of Wild Rover ! Ken did love his Guinness ! (and tatties). Bill McAllister presented the first eulogy for Ken and had people chuckling and feeling thoughtful in equal measure. Ken had apparently offered suggestions to Bill for stuff to include in the eulogy while his condition deteriorated . Not sure if Bill actually used any of it (although the story about how much Ken loved tatties may have been part of it) but Bill spoke both beautifully and emotionally to honour his very dear friend. His words came straight from the heart and the big man would have chuckled, nodded his head and agreed with most if not all of the comments and anecdotes. I dont think there was a dry eye in the house when the musical interlude was played and a powerpoint of pictures of Ken from very young age, through his university, shinty and football days was played, culminating in pictures of his most recent images enjoying some of his final days with his wife and children. The big man would definitely have approved of this service (even the bits he didnt organise) and I think and he would probably have been flattered by the guard of honour made by the shinty lads from Strathglass and others who joined the line. Goodbye Ken. and to borrow words from Don above - the best chairman we never had ... He worked tirelessly for the club without fanfare .... so much so that I missed the fact in my original post that he was around the club well before 1999-2000, but mainly in the background. I would finally make the point that if we can (deservedly) have a 'Jock MacDonald' stand then knowing now just how much Ken Thomson did for our club and to ensure its survival, what kind of legacy can we have for him? He has well and truly earned that and his place in our history. (and even though he would appreciate it, I don't think we should name the pitch the Ken Thomson tattie field).

It is with great regret and deep sadness that I post this note to pay tribute to Ken Thomson, former director of Inverness Caledonian Thistle who passed away earlier today (Friday). Personally I am happy and privileged to have been able to call Ken a friend as well as someone who always tried to do his best at Caley Thistle, sometimes under very challenging circumstances. A man who also liaised with us here at CTO to foster the excellent collaborative relationship we had with the club in recent years. Many people will have known him not only from the football world where he came to the club around 1999/2000 but also from the shinty world where he was president of the Camanachd Association in the early 90s. He was elected president in 1990 but served his time in that association well before coming president. He was on the executive committee in 1978 at the age of 24, and was also a former president of the Camanachd Referees' Association, a former secretary of the North of Scotland Shinty Association, and an organiser of the Aviemore Indoor Sixes. He was goalkeeper for Aberdeen University in the 1973 Sutherland Cup-winning team before turning to refereeing, and also sponsored Strathglass, the club from his home village of Cannich. Ken was an extremely important part of our relationship with the club. I would go as far as to say that he was the primary architect of the bond we forged over nearly 20 years. In the same season where Super Caley went ballistic, Ken reached out to me and we met a few times to discuss how the fledgling (5 year old) CaleyThistleOnline site could help the club communicate with fans and act as a two-way conduit directly with, and to, the board as the internet became a more and more important communication tool. He recognised the significance of the internet before many others did and was open minded enough to embrace it and ourselves and not worry too much about keeping things as insular as they had been for the first few years the club existed. He may have been more AOL than iOS when it came to operating the technology but he understood the importance. In modern day terms he was a supporters liaison officer (SLO) before anyone had ever coined the phrase or even thought supporters were that important ! He was instrumental in helping setup "Boardroom Banter" both times we ran it. He was the man responsible for the live chat sessions we had with the likes of Graeme Bennett and others and he helped us facilitate a number of events where club officials and fans mingled in social settings in the Caley Inn, Caley Club, Innes Bar and even on away trips at times. Over the years he dragged along the chairman, other directors, chief execs and other folk to these get togethers and I believe his input helped forge a bond with many supporters that can never be broken. There are not too many clubs that were as open as Caley Thistle during his time on the board and he is to be applauded and lauded for that. Goodnight my friend, you will be missed, but you will never be forgotten.

I did the draw for this year's goodies and it can be seen here : @finmack and @Badly_Drawn are the winners of the shirt and signed caricature of Liam Polworth. I have sent both a message to co-ordinate prize pickup/delivery. Well done/.
-
Here are the draw results for 2017/18 season to see who receives Liam Polworth's signed shirt from this season just past. WINNER - SIGNED SHIRT : @finmack WINNER - SIGNED CARICATURE : @Badly_Drawn The names in the hat for each of the seasons are based on the members who joined the sponsorship group each year (see topic linked below). The draw itself is conducted using a random generator website (www.randompicker.com). We have used this same site to conduct all our draws over the years, and have also successfully conducted several test draws on the current data that completed without any issues. The draw is completely and utterly random and no-one on CTO or within ICT has any influence or control over the names that come up. This is important to note as there are people connected with the club and with CTO who have subscribed and are therefore eligible and who will not be excluded from the draw. If anyone has any concerns or questions about this process please feel free to PM me or mention it in the thread below. 2018-19: List of participants 2018-19 Draw Result on the randompicker website

If you were in the group last year then you should be able to renew in your profile here : https://caleythistleonline.com/clients/purchases/ If there is an issue then dont worry about it. I'll be back in Canada in 10 days and have more time to get all this sorted. We've got until Friday in Inverness then a 4 day detour in Dublin ! Hoping to get down to the stadium in the next few days to chat with Emma and buy the little guy some new gear and a new backpack for school, then probably offline while we are in Dublin !
-
a few people have renewed after getting email or reminders from the site. Sorry I have not updated things to show who has paid and who we might get as sponsored player etc .... I am not in Toronto right now .... I am currently running around in Inverness visiting friends and family so literally have zero computer time. Hope to get the sponsorship for this year rolling and the draw for last year's sponsorship prize winners done soon (while I am here).

CTO Player of the Year 2018/19 - COLL DONALDSON Players of the Month Month Player August R.Calder / Tom Walsh September Mark Ridgers October Coll Donaldson November C.Donaldson / M.Ridgers December Tom Walsh January Tom Walsh February Coll Donaldson March Aaron Doran April Jamie McCart May Charlie Trafford The CaleyThistleOnline.com player of the year awards started back in season 2000-2001, and is one of only two external supporter awards recognised by the club and also recorded in Ian Broadfoot's official club stats. We take great pride in that and continue to seek to ensure the voting process is handled with fairness and integrity. The results over the last 18 years have usually been a pretty good indicator of the season that had just passed and this season's votes seem no different than previous years in that respect. From reading the forums and the supporter assessments of the players on a weekly basis, I would hazard a guess that most fans would easily be able to rhyme off the top 5 or 6 names quite easily. This year however was the first time we had the little wrinkle that is the playoffs to add some spice to the run-in. With a 7 point lead going into the last official league game of the season, last year's runner-up Coll Donaldson was in pole position to take the plaudits. Could he maintain that or could someone catch him? There were a total of 2981 votes cast this season which was an 22% increase on last year. These votes were cast for a total of 23 different players over the course of the season. The season covered 10 months and two players each won 'Player of the Month' three times (Donaldson & Walsh), one player (Ridgers) earned it twice, and 4 other players took it for a single month (Calder, Doran, McCart and Trafford). If you are thinking that that adds up to 12 you are right !!! In August, the Player of the Month plaudits were shared between Walsh and Calder and in November it was shared between Donaldson and Ridgers ! The graphic below shows the number of votes cast each month regardless of 5/3/1 point value. We use this total number of votes cast to determine the player of the month standings. Over the course of the season the player with the highest number of votes cast for them (regardless of the value of the votes 5/3/1) was Coll Donaldson with 390 votes. Last year he finished in second spot with 338 votes so a very consistent young man in his Caley Thistle career so far. Second spot this year goes to Tom Walsh with 282 votes with the next three spots being taken up by Doran, Polworth and Ridgers who are all over the 250 vote mark. We noted last year that Iain Vigurs had been very dominant in pickling up POY points every month and that this wasnt a regular occurence .... Well, as if to prove us wrong, it happened again this year ! Of course it is easy to guess who did it, yup, Coll Donaldson picked up POY points every month and has equalled the Vigurs achievement of last year. A special mention has to go to Jamie McCart though .... Having amassed a grand total of 11 POY points through the first 8 months of the season he earned 26 in the months of April and May to shoot up the rankings and finish fifth. If the season had lasted a month longer he might have even caught up with the leaders. The final total for the year has Coll Donaldson retaining the lead he has held all season and finishing with 62 points. In second place is Aaron Doran with 52 and the next three are Liam Polworth and Tom Walsh in 3rd equal spot and Jamie McCart as mentioned pushing Mark Ridgers out of 5th spot to claim it for himself. Well done Coll, and to all the boys for a season where we almost got there on two fronts ... onwards and upwards and hopefully one step further next year.
