This. Personally, I could care less who is in charge of our club provided they have the best interests of the club at heart. We have seen too many egos over the years and too many factions who pull in different directions when we could and should pull together.

I was there when John Baird scored. Inverness cruised to victory against bottom club Brechin City thanks to two early goals and another two later in the second half to secure a comfortable 4-0 win. Goals from Brad Mckay, John Baird, Connor Bell and George Oakley secured the points on a chilly winter night, the pitch heavy and proving difficult to move the ball around quickly. A crowd of 1801 braved the dropping temperatures to witness a rare occasion, a John Baird goal in this re-scheduled fixture, the first one being postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. Gary Warren returned to the bench with Brad Mckay re-instated alongside Coll Donaldson after his suspension. The disciplined Iain Vigurs was replaced by Charlie Trafford in midfield. Brechin were as expected, with Isaac Layne ploughing a lone furrow up front. The same man has the power to carry it off though and caused a few problems with his burly physique. There was almost a dream start for Brechin as a long ball forward sat up nicely for Connor McLennan on the edge of our box. Ridgers was caught in no mans land and a subtle lob left him stranded, but the ball bounced back out off the base of the post. A let off for Inverness before we got going and a warning we heeded. In the seventh minute we went ahead, Brad Mckay crashing a close range volley high into the net direct from a Polworth corner. Two minutes later and it was joy for John Baird. The striker had not scored for over a couple of months, but he capitalised on a defensive mix up by a pair of Smiths to squeeze the ball home from ten yards for number two after it broke kindly to him off the defender and keepers lack of communication. We dominated the half but the game went quiet, for long periods, akin to a Sunday afternoon kick-about. Isaac Layne made some powerful bursts, but Coll Donaldson and Brad Mckay were equal to him overall. Jake Mulraney was a menace to the visiting defence throughout and he was unfortunate not to break his duck on a couple of occasions. Half Time 2-0 Connor Bell headed in number three early in the half to put the game to bed and that allowed us to make some alterations with Aaron Doran getting more game time. Our intricate play was not helped as the heavy pitch deteriorated and made simple things difficult. Substitute Alex Cooper hit a ferocious shot that Keeper Smith did well to beat away but he was helpless when another sub, Goerge Oakley ran onto a tidy through ball from Trafford to flick it round the advancing keeper. Cool finish from Oakley who is beginning to look the part. As said earlier, Layne was the one Brechin player that looked mildly menacing but Ridgers was untroubled for the entire ninety minutes as he froze his bells off between the sticks. Full Time 4-0 A convincing win for Inverness against a side that drew with Dundee United at the weekend. Conditions were not conducive to silky football, and what skill was displayed came from the home side. Overall, an excellent win in what could have been a potential banana skin game. Best for Inverness were Brad Mckay, Jake Mulraney (first half) Liam Polworth, and my MotM Coll Donaldson. Good in defence, quick and willing to play the ball out of defence when required. Date: 28/11/17 Venue: Caledonian Stadium Attendance: 1801 Referee: Craig Charleston Inverness CT: 4 Lineup: Ridgers; Raven, Mckay, Donaldson, Tremarco, Chalmers, Polworth, Trafford, Mulraney (Cooper, 80), Bell (Doran, 63), Baird (Oakley, 63) Subs (not used): Mackay, Warren, Calder, Seedorf Scorers: Mckay (7), Baird (9), Bell (52), Oakley (87) Booked: Chalmers (57) Sent Off: none Brechin City: 0 Lineup: G Smith; McLean, Dyer (Lynas, 55), Dale, Graham, Layne, Watt (Sinclair, 70), Spark, McLennan (Orsi, 76), Crighton, E Smith Subs (not used): Fusco, O'Neil Scorers: none Booked: Dyer (12) Sent Off: none

After a squeaker against Columbus, thats TFC now crowned Eastern Division Champions again and through to the MLS Cup Final to be held here in Toronto a week Saturday (9th December). Jozy Altidore lived up to his nickname "the Beast" after going off to the sideline injured, then back on, then off and back on again, only to score the goal that took TFC through. Michael Bradley was a beast all the way trough the game too. The radio said afterwards that his pass accuracy was 90% on the night and he truly lived up to that old cliche about covering every blade of grass ! Now to go and buy thermal everything for the final. Last year was brutal in the cold with feet like blocks of ice. this year wont be any warmer ! A chance for TFC to win it all this year ... Canadian Champs, Supporters Shield Winners, Easter Champions ... and hopefully this year, MLS Cup winners ...

only 5 subs for Brechin tonight, and going by the squad list, none of them appear to be a keeper.

*** VOTING IN THE POLL ABOVE IS FOR PEOPLE WHO WERE AT THE MATCH ONLY *** If you were at the match, please use the poll above to vote for your top 3 players. As a bit of fun, we have also added an option to rate the referee .... Please make sure you vote for 3 separate players. If you make an error, let us know so we can fix it. PLEASE ONLY VOTE ABOVE IF YOU WERE AT THE GAME Anyone caught trying to cheat the system WILL be banned from voting in ALL site polls...this is your only warning. **NOT at the game ?** As a result of requests received, we have made a slight change to how these threads work for site users who watched the game on TV or listened to the full game live on the radio ....... You too will now be able to cast your votes, but should do it in the thread below, and NOT in the official poll above. Just list the three players of your choosing and award 5,3, or 1 point(s). You can give the ref a mark if you want too ! These votes will NOT be counted in the official total, as we only count votes from those who where actually at the game, but it IS a way for you to participate in the process .... which many people asked for .... a happy medium we hope !!!!!

Whilst all that may be true, its not that simple and there are many shades of grey, not just black and white. Hindsight is also a wonderful thing ! I am not saying there were no errors made, and no money wasted, but he was overseeing the building of a brand new stadium and an access road that in the end has opened up the whole area around the stadium for the development that has taken place over the last 20+ years. The design of the stadium was adjusted over the time of construction, costs of the road changed, and the grants we were given did not cover those costs ... I would suggest that the debt, crippling though it was, was somewhat unavoidable given our assurances to the SFA/SPFL during our time of admission to the league .... so should we blame that on the Chairman before DM? DFS came in with his solution(s) when we were in real trouble and some were ok with that, others not so much. Lots of questioning of his motives then, and these continue to this day. Subsequent chairmen have attempted to do their best and I find it hard to believe that any of them came into the club with anything but the best of intentions to move the club forward. Perhaps there are some very direct questions that need to be addressed in light of the comments made recently by a few folk but I think our bigger problem with various Chairmen at times has been one of egos. Individually they are all good people who as I said already, I believe, have the interests of ICT at heart, but put them in a room together and for some it becomes a pissing contest which is unfortunate and at some points in our history counter-productive. Also -- Some people are mentioning Grassa coming back as DoF in recent posts ... some are saying that his time was past etc. whereas others think it a good idea. I remain on the fence. He did a good job in the role before, but I dont know what he's been up to for the last dozen years or more. I remember there was a right kerfuffle when he was last in the post though ... when it was revealed in the accounts that he had the sheer audacity to take a salary for doing what was effectively a full-time job !!! ..... I hope that if he does take it on again, or for whoever takes it on, we are not expecting them to do it for nothing.

I was thinking we could put a referee's name for each choice ... but sadly I could not come up with any names for items 1-4 !
-
In MLS, I coined the phrase "The Gantar scale" on the photoblog I run because that ref is just so poor (consistently) ... although after the recent playoff round against NY Red Bulls, I temporarily replaced it with the "Penso Index" !!! I will change the template before tomorrow .... does this sound about right .... Excellent Good Average Poor Terrible worse than John McKendrick !!!

yup ... that's why I seldom buy beer or food when I watch TFC ..... the same beer I get for $5 in the pub is $14 at the stadium! A pack of M&Ms for the little guy is $8 instead of about $3 and a single slice of Pizza is about $7 when I can go to the same supplier outside the ground and get 2 considerably larger slices for $5
-
Its all about risk and reward really. Whilst I agree with those who say that we should use local suppliers - and we do have more than one or two who make pretty good fare - the club have opted to go down the zero risk route. For the concessions, they take a fee from the company who do the catering (badly in many cases) and they have zero risk. If the pie sellers are left with overstock or unsold pies, or a tray of them get so burnt they cant even attempt to sell them, there is no loss for the club. On the flip side, if that company make huge profits each week there is no extra profit for the club. If we were to do it ourselves we would have to employ people to do it, there would (quite rightly) be all sorts of H&S and hygiene training and regulations to adhere to and other hidden costs associated with basically running the equivalent of a 'cafe' 17 times a year. We operate on a shoestring budget already and this is one area where the club have probably got it right ... even if the caterers have not. When it next goes out to tender, would love to see us go for the best option rather than the cheapest one .... even if it means we don't take the highest bid. Having an organised eatery with decent food which keeps the club's customers happy is IMHO more important than a few extra quid a week. For the hospitality side its much the same I think. The club do have functions, conferences etc at the stadium and I assume food is supplied to these for lunches etc but unless they reach the critical mass where it makes sense to do all that in-house and do the matchday stuff in-house too then having a good external company providing decent food makes most budgetary sense. I have had hospitality a few times albeit not recently, and while I can certainly complain about the pies in the concourse, the hospitality was always decent or better.

and that's why its the World Cup and not the Strathspey Cup ! ..... Not sure that too many Costa Ricans would be interested in some of the games but they would definitely be interested in their own country's games ! especially as that country got there on merit .. and are only a couple of places below Netherlands in the world rankings with Egypt ranked at 30 just one place below Scotland. In fact, until May this year Scotland were ranked below all 3 of the countries you just turned your nose up at ... sitting in 61st spot with the Saudis at 53 and Egypt and Costa Rica occupying 19th and 20th spots. Do you know anything about those teams, their players etc ? or are you just using snobbery and elitism to write them off before a ball is kicked. Try watching some of these "lesser" games ... you just might like them !
-
really? Why not just allow the 'big' European teams and perhaps call it the Euros? or maybe we can continue your version of the same elitism shown that has turned European club competition into a farce since the days of the Champions Cup or the Cup Winners Cup. Teams that have never, and will never be champions competing in a TV cash-cow solely for the benefit of rich clubs and who look down on any 'small' teams who have the audacity to actually qualify then have to go through multiple qualifying rounds before they can meet a rich team who finished 4th or 5th in their league. Which small nations might you be referring to ? The 5 regional qualifiers out of 46 teams from the Asian/Middle East conference who had to play 4 different sets of qualifying rounds to get there? Perhaps you mean the 5 African teams who also had to face three different qualifying competitions to whittle it down from 53 teams and get through? Surely you cannot mean the 3 North/Central American nations (from 35 participants) who had to go through 5 different rounds of qualification to get there? I will assume your disdain for the smaller nations does not extend to the 14 UEFA or 5 CONMEBOL (South America) qualifiers as they are far better .... even though 5 of 10 nations qualified in South America from a single round-robin competition where they played each other home and away, and 14/52 in Europe who played 1 set of qualifying fixtures and then the playoffs. Of the 32 qualifiers, only Iceland and Panama will be making their first appearance and they are there on merit. If Italy, Netherlands (and Scotland) are not there it is because those nations were not good enough over the course of the entire campaign to qualify. simple. Also - of the 32 qualifiers ... and leaving aside those qualifying for the first time ... only 3 teams of the 32 have failed to move on form the group stages in previous appearances .... Egypt (group stages in 1934/1990), Tunisia (group stages in 1978, 1998, 2002, 2006) and Iran (group stages in 1978, 1998, 2006, 2014) Personally, I am going to be cheering for some of these small nations during the World Cup: Iceland & Morocco are my teams of choice for now as I had tremendous vacations in both places and the people were brilliant. I would really love one of these two nations to do what Iceland did in the last tournament and stick a huge middle finger up to those folks who think they should not be there, or who look down their noses at them despite the effort it took to get there.
