  1. I pretty much agree with most of what you've said. What I was trying to illustrate (and what I said before) was that there was right on both sides but extremists holding too much sway (again on both sides - Israeli governments have regularly been composed of minority ultra-Zionist parties). Hamas have indicated privately that there can be negotiations but it's not in their interests to say that publicly. Much the same thing happened with the IRA/Sinn Feinn. (I'm pretty dubious about the whole HIV thing - sounds like propaganda to me) When I hear of attacks on Americans, Brits, Jews or Israelis in another country, my first thought is how ridiculous that guilt is assumed just because you happened to be from that country, never mind the actual political leanings of the individual. But that's just what's happening in Gaza. Innocent men, women and children are being killed that are not terrorists (but if it happened to a person close to you, wouldn't it drive you to vengeance?). The bottom line is: no way will this bring peace to Israel - quite the opposite. And the crazy thing is: everyone knows the answer - a 2 state solution along pre-1967 borders. But that needs two things on both sides: trust (a virtual impossibility) and isolating extremists - something that seems impossible. PS From what I understand over here in Egypt, Hamas was actually elected to stamp out corruption, rather than the anti-Israel policy. Same as people over here (without bothering to explain that we don't have a President) assume Blair was re-elected because of Iraq - domestic issues get easily overlooked from the outside.
  2. The Palestinians Israelis elected a terrorist group with anti-semitic Palestinian genocide in it's constitution to govern them. They're firing thousands of rockets into Israeli illegally occupied Palestinian towns and cities attempting to kill as many Israelis Palestinians as they can. What would you do if you were an Israeli Palestinian? How would you deal with this problem? Let's be realistic. I'm not saying Israel Hamas is doing the right thing, but it's easy for us to sit on our high horses from over here.

I think in the summer, he was actually looking for a move away from Scotland.
  4. Why do you say he did badly at Hearts? Coz he was sacked (well, he was asked to stay on in a reduced capacity) by mad Vlad? Can you read too much in to that? Seems to me that in the clubs he's had, Hearts, Livi and Ross County, that he's not really had a chance to make a difference. Mad owners, the lot of them!

"But the decision will not be a financial one ..." Yes! "...but based on what I think is right for...my education as a footballer." B*gger!

I can imagine Brew may well have been behind this. He knows how poor defensively we've been. If Pressley does well as player/defensive coach then it's good for Brew too. Steven is not a yes man but he's not a natural rebel either. In fact, quite the opposite. Being successful does mean Brew sticking around. Much as I didn't like the way he came back to the club, I won't cut off my nose to spite my face. If he - and he hasn't so far - learns from his mistakes, all well and good. Proof is in the pudding, so I won't hold my breath (and any other cliches you can think of!)
  7. How much of that article is based on suspicion and how much truth? Bennett and Sutherland share the supporters' concerns? That the management team isn't good enough? I liked Brew saying "We have always done well against Rangers as a club and are looking to continue that." Ca anyone remember a time when we didn't do well?
  8. He was certainly a top top player for a number of years. No idea what he's like now mind you. Worth a scout at least. Even if the legs are gone, if we're playing a back 5, he would at least be able to organise them. Wasn't aware he was from Elgin.
  9. Now at 70% go. I take it Ross County voted for the other 30%!
  10. Probably came from rumours at the bastion of truth...http://community.caleythistleonline.com!
  11. If he didn't have that relationship, we'd hear nothing. Bannerman has been fairly neutral in my opinion. Just putting out interviews on what's being said from an otherwise silent board.
  12. Brian Kerr did well at Motherwell, so would be a good experienced addition. I know the Hibees hated him but I'd say it was really down to him being played out of position.
  13. Definitely. Scored with Dunfermline easily enough and is doing the business with Rotherham. Obviously there's fitness to consider but a push-out-the-boat time for me. Every chance he wants the Central Belt mind if Rotherham's too far for him.
  14. Just what I suspected. No doubt he will also deserve the chance to take us up next year. Brew's here for the long-term I'd imagine - and it's just not right.
  15. Pretty obvious really. injured most of the time and has looked pretty awful according to reports. His contract is up in the summer and it looks like free transfer time. He's started one game for Bristol and was poor. Don't know if he'll ever do a Lee Wilkie and get back to form. Incidentally, Wilkie for Scotland! Best Scots defender besides Caldwell IMHO.
  16. Dumfries? Weirdly similar to Inverness in many ways. I've always liked the too. Barry will be missed - no question! Good luck!
  17. It all depends on the transfer window. Imagine an injury to Munro and Black/Cowie gone, we then potentially have a team of: Esson, Tokely Proctor McGuire Hastings, Imrie Vigurs Duncan McBain, Rooney Wood ()with no suspensions or injuries) If we crashed like Gretna, who would be first-choice for another SPL club? I'd say: SPL: Esson, Imrie SPL/Div 1 cusp (if you know what I mean): Tokely, Hastings, Duncan, Rooney Div 1: McGuire, Proctor (at least as centre back), McBain The rest are up-n-coming squad players rather than regulars. It's going to be tough. Only Hamilton have a weaker squad.
  18. I don't see why Steve Frail. I didn't think he did anything at Hearts. You can say Vlad played a big role but Frail just didn't do anything impressive in my eyes to warrant an SPL club.
  19. When it comes to 'affording' managers, I'm not sure it would be that tough to get people like Colin Calderwood (not a bad shout) or Gary McAllister (not done enough at Leeds for me), or even Bruce Rioch. These people are either at the beginning or the end of their career. They either need a long-lasting job quickly or need to develop their careers at whatever level they can get. There are bigger names than Calderwood that start in non-League football. Being a success with an SPL club (if you don't believe you can be a success with a club, don't be a manager) must look good on the CV.
  20. The Palestinians don't control the Egypt border. Hamas is also not the nicest of organisations to let freely into a country that already has problems with the Muslim Brotherhood. I see Israel is now talking about 'crushing' and toppling Hamas. Have they learnt nothing about terrorism? It's like trying to put out a fire by blasting it with oxygen! Although the ceasefire ended, a few weeks before it began, Hamas were firing rockets into the deserts rather than the towns as it was merely symoblic. I also just heard Netanyahu (to think the Israelis turned to him after Rabin and Arafat won the Nobel Peace Prize and were on the verge of peace - it'd be like Northern Ireland voting Sinn Fein and Ian Paisley in after the Good Friday Agreement...) asking why the international community wasn't standing by Israel when they were attempting to avoid (yeah, I know but let's just go with it) civilian casualties, whilst Hamas fired indiscriminately. Answer is of course, Israel is illegally occupying another country formed by the same UN mandate that established Israel (would we be surprised if Scotland invaded Norway and they began fighting back?). Secondly, give them helicopter gunships and laser sightings and I'm sure they would target a lot more effectively. All-in-all, what on Earth do the Israeli government really believe they'll get out of this? Surely, they can't see this as a means to peace???
  21. Why?
  22. That's what I heard people say about Brew in charge of Dundee U and Berti Vogts at Scotland. It's the same players, so what can be done? The answer became obvious. I'm in favour of a new up'n'coming manager but if the board is skittish, there's plenty more candidates with far better track records than Brewster. We know where we're going with him, so that's just not an option for many of us. I can't believe with Brew's contract running out soon that there would be too much money to lose.
  23. Comes to something when even Harry Chibber's saying this! (to think I actually thought you were Brew or Grasser in disguise) Of candidates that may be interested: 1. Steven Pressley with Knox/McCormack/Duffy/Chisholm (preference for assistant in that order - BTW I'm assuming no return for Donald Park) 2. Robbo with Christie/Wilson 3. Not too sure, maybe Richard Gough with one of the assistants above. Maybe Bobby Williamson? Good manager but none too inspiring for the support.

<saveface>I only meant the Dunfermline games where they played St Johnstone</saveface>
  25. Absolutely not. See my last paragraph. The solution? Return to the 1947 boundaries and compensation for the Palestinian displaced when Israel was set up by terrorism. Everyone knows that's the solution too but there's too many extremists on both sides (witness Rabin getting shot when a Palestinian state was on the verge of agreement - the Palestinian extremism being all too readily reported).
