  1. Think St Mirren wanted him to play football :football01: rather than sing :music03:
  2. It's definitely Barry if it's a choice. In fact Barry and Charlie as coaches would be a big improvement. Someone suggested a 6-month contract for Wyness. I'd like to see that. I feel Dennis could make it given a good pre-season but can understand the manager being reticent about a new contract.
  3. What about Fiorientina v Bayern? There were a number of top teams from England, Spain, Italy etc but they didn't get to the final. It's a fantastic achievement for both Scotland and Zenit. Here's why they are Scottish: They play in Scotland They have Scottish manager Most of their players are Scottish Scotland is in Britain Supporting a Russian team over a Scottish team is so parochial. Get a sense of perspective. That moves the whole of Scottish football forward as much as the results against France did and qualifying for the World Cup would have. I'll support any Scottish team over the Old Firm but not a bl**dy Russian one! (even though I'm about to do some work there).
  4. The Fiorientina manager has denounced Rangers for defensive football. Italy denounces negative football :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: He who lives by the catenaccio..... As an aside, I've criticised Smith enough for his defence-minded football but seriously who could he have played? ALL his wide players (Beesley, Naismith, Adam, McCulloch and Burke) are injured. That would leave either Novo (who's really a striker and for me works best as a sub) or central attacking midfielder Buffel, who has barely played in a year and a half (though I liked him when he did). Two strikers and no width would have just meant long-ball. Not much more entertaining
  5. :crazy07: :crazy07: :crazy07: :crazy07: :crazy07: :crazy07: Fan-f*$!ing-tastic!!!!!! Even Papac scored! Scots wha hae!
  6. I agree. Bl**dy Cousin! Rangers don't deserve to win but I hope they do. Advocaat v Smith for the final?
  7. You mean Pressley now or you never rated him? At Hearts I thought he was the best defender Scotland had at the time. Never really recovered from injury.
  8. Successful team in Europe from England Liverpool :021: Man Utd :021: Notts Forest :021: Arsenal :021: Everton :022: Ipswich :022: Aston Villa :022: Newcastle - um, just when :symbol_question: :33:
  9. Christie IMHO was probably the most skillful player we ever had. I applaud the fact ( :clapping03: see I told you) that when he left Celtic, he came back to Caley rather than a lower SFL club, where he could have no doubt made it. I also think he was a good coach, although his lack of Dods replacement counts against him. I'd certainly prefer him to the current manager but my ideal situation would be either Christie or Pele as assistant (or even the duo as a management team). No problem about players or managers coming back. Just depends which ones!
  10. Opera is even quicker. Slightly less add-ons though but at least as good as Firefox.
  11. Hmmm, so there was no fallout at the club then? No doubt the Under-19s just needed a little morale boost :symbol_question: Piece of nonsense that interview. Can't see Black wanting to sign a new contract at present, so there's the choice of lose him for nothing or sell him now (or for a knock-down price in January no doubt). I reckon no more than 250, 000. Worth far more but we won't get it. Just make sure we get a big percentage of his next sale. For me, he's easily our best player bar Marius. Think we'll struggle to replace him. I know you can talk about what happened recently when he was missing but over the course of a season, Black is a big advantage.
  12. I think he had colossal talent. Had some really bad injuries though, otherwise he'd still be starring for Scotland today IMHO. I still don't think we have a player that could score as many as he can. I think he'd be a good purchase. Anyone hear the tale of Paul Dalglish? He was starring for Newcastle, then suddenly dropped. He later revealed that Ruud Gullit called him in and said that he thought his father's criticisms of his management were unfair, so he was going to be unfair too and drop Dalglish from the side. And people wonder why he lost the dressing rooms and Newcastle and Chelsea...

    Don Cowie

I think some of our fans are getting delusions of grandeur. Of course we want to get better but we have to face it that, in terms of both size and what we have achieved, we're fighting to be on top of the Livi's, St J's, Falkirk's etc etc. Once we're there, we can start talking about ourselves as attracting and keeping players at their peak. Black, Cowie etc will probably move on to bigger things and I'll be proud of what they did at this club, hoping that the transfer fee allows to get some new promising stars of the future, so we can achieve as much as we can (whilst keeping our feet on the ground).
  14. I do. Wyness is gone. I doubt any player can save themselves in the last few matches. I think it's just something managers say to get players he doesn't want to play a bit harder. We desperately need a goalscorer to play alongside Niculae (who'll be gone also, so make that two players!).
  15. Mark Burchill has decided to leave Dunfermline. I think this could be a good one to go for. His injury problems seem to be behind him. Scored a lot in a poor Dunfermline team in the SPL and is their top scorer in the EPL. He'll be on a fair amount but probably far from impossible. Guarantees goals when injury free (which he seems to be). Can imagine the likes of Motherwell, Killie etc might be in for him but I'd like to see us try.
  16. I just can't understand not broadcasting abroad. Is there really an overseas radio company willing to buy ICT v Killie???!!!
  17. As I've said above, I think Naka is all down to injury and fatigue as he was amazing in his first year. McManus is ok but for me, Caldwell is a much better player. He gets a lot of criticism - most of which started when he was right-back. Imagine McManus or Pressley at right back, then maybe Celtic fans should be a bit more forgiving. For me, McManus would struggle in any league where technique was more important than strength, whereas Caldwell would thrive in a league like Italy, Spain or even England.
  18. As for lower league and Chester-type players, I always admired Tommy McLean at Motherwell for going into the lower leagues and buying their best players. Players have to start somewhere. Just because they are missed by Killie or Hibs or whoever first time around doesn't mean they are poor players. It may just mean they haven't been spotted. Rangers signed Davie Cooper from Clydebank. A poor signing? David Platt came from Crewe (psst no-one mention the utd connection). If you think only decent players have already been signed up by EPL and SPL clubs from schoolboy, quite frankly you know nothing about football! :018:
  19. Barry Ferguson is an excellent player. Easily one of the SPL's best. And, if you actually look at his career, he was excellent for Blackburn too. Most Man-of-the matches in the games he played, plus named captain. Unfortunately, rumours often get in the way of facts. Last season, Nakamura was sheer quality but has been a passenger this, as he's never fully recovered from injury. Jackie McNamara has been a huge disappointment. It's obvious that injuries have meant an early end to his top-flight career but no-one seems to have noticed it yet.
  20. The change of country didn't change his attitude then. Exactly the same problem when in Scotland. Wouldn't be totally against him as long as the management recognised he would be used only sporadically. Brew could bring him on as a sub (do you see what I did there? Brewster. Substitute. )
  21. Too true. Lovell also had a fall out with JC apparently which meant his appearances have been curtailed. From what I've read on message boards, the Dons fans seemed to think he should have been a more regular player.
  22. Will clubs be queuing up with a big chequebook for Lovell? Doubt it after the last few years. Might be worth an enquiry.
  23. NASA have already admitted to faking photos. Some of the quality was a bit ropey, so they were altered. They can be spotted as the camera cross-hairs are actually behind the subject.
  24. John Colquhoun said he'd never heard of a transfer happening where the player wasn't 'tapped up'. He said, usually the player would get a phone call asking if he would be interested. He thought it was fair enough as it saved all the bureaucracy involved if the player simply wasn't interested.
  25. Butler certainly was a good player. If we'd got him at Xmas, I suspect we'd have had a very different season. A commanding centre-back. Obviously at 35, little more than a stop gap, so perhaps a bit disappointing for the new season but won't rush to judgments on his fitness yet.
