Fergie Retires
No surprise there. After all, Neil has taken lowly Celtic to the top of the division. And all he had to do was get his only rivals thrown of the league.

Fergie Retires
Now, that's how to employ a manager. Take note Chelsea - sacking a manager after he wins the double is not the way forward.

Fergie Retires
I will point out that the Saints sacked SAF as they found out he had agreed (or was well on the way) to become manager of Aberdeen. I view Aberdeen as his greatest achievement. Hope Moyes gets it. Always like to see a Scot doing well - I guess that'll be unusual on this forum.

Allan Johnston - Scotland's greatest manager - will be looking out his whippets soon. Neil Lennon to feel aggrieved. Nothing to do with this story. It's just, well, he always is.

League Improvement
Can I sue the SPL for stealing my idea? 12, 16 or 18 can be left for a later date - this is the most important bit. An 8 split would have made the league worse but this improves it, plus leaves the door open for massaging the league size. But this guarantees competition and excitement in the future, if implemented properly. That made the 80s a special time in Scottish league football history, despite only 10 teams. This decision is crucial. Competition via a level(ish) playing field is all.

Scottish PFA Manager of the Year shortlist
Neil Lennon voted for Adams and has said he will boycott the event if the person he wants to win isn't in in the running. (maybe not entirely accurate but, you got to admit, for satire, it's biting!) (no?)

Europe:- The Final Countdown
Ross County are only Top Six first time of asking if you ignore all those years in the SFL1 and 2. Otherwise, you may as well say Ross County got a runners-up medal first time of asking in the Scottish Cup (if you ignore all these years where they weren't in the later stages of the Cup - but then, why would you?) As it is, I'm not bothered what Ross County do. Good luck to them (comparitively) but it has no bearing on this being a great season for ICT.

SPL Player of the Year
Must be something in it. After all, it isn't like Celtic to see conspiracies everywhere...

SPL Player of the Year
Another Higdon for me. Scored, influenced play, led the line. Been tremendous this year.

Team fer St Jones Town
I'd play the same team against Celtic if possible. One bad result doesn't mean a bad team. But I'd play more counter-attack. Pull in Doran and Draper. Let St J attack. A draw would suit us far more than them. Let them leave themselves exposed. Basically do to St J what they did to us last time we played.

Andy Shinnie to Birmingham City
I don't. I'm a Scotland supporter first and foremost. I was always a little embarrased by cries for A.Shinnie to get called-up. It just shows how far we've fallen if he's the successor to Collins/McStay, McAllister/Strachan, Souness/Wark or Bremner/Lorimer. He's a decent player but no world-beater. Perhaps we just haven't got them anymore :(

Andy Shinnie to Birmingham City
Couldn't care less what happens when he leaves. Sit on the bench or play every week. It's only the old Division Two. I'll wish him well after he retires or comes back to play. But I'd have him in for St Johnstone. It's the big match really. Win this and I think it's Europe. Lose and St J have the advantage. We need our best team. If he doesn't perform, let Ross or Pepper take his place after this match. But don't experiment at this time.

Och that whole 'bent the rules' is being too sensitive. Spartans themselves said they wouldn't put a bid in against a team with a world class stadium, crowds to rival Celtic and bringing in money that dwarfs any other club that could gain entry. Of course, they would get in. Agent N: see above. No-one said they were bigots for flying the flag but bigots who fly the flag. It's a subtle but important difference. I don't think Green did pander to them (and I've never saw Rangers as racist [or at least in the past few decades] - bigots yes, but religion, not race). Green just was a bit niaive. Even that whole comment about Imran Ahmed was part of a speech saying he wasn't racist/bigoted. Read the whole quote. Indeed, he was saying the bigotry towards Rangers wasn't based on race or religion either but because of being a big successful club. A brain-disengaged, loud-mouthed, money-obsessed man but doubt he cared much beyond that. But this season's SPL has been more enjoyable than the past 10 years or more. Who won the league has always been immaterial since Souness. Rangers/Celtic/who cares? Who qualifies for Europe has taken in everyone in the league at some stage. The old guard of Hibs, Hearts, Aberdeen and, to an extent, Dundee Utd losing ground to new clubs has been more exciting than which millionaire team can score how many goals against which bankrupt club. Who wins the league has always been of interest to Rangers, Celtic and outsiders. Scottish fans of other clubs couldn't care less. Yeah, you're right. Competition is needed. But not the old two-horse race. That's what's led to the staleness of so many years. A number of clubs need a chance of winning. Rangers haven't been missed but Celtic are still too rich.

Oh no, I feel sorry for McCoist. I think he's a rubbish manager (from the SPL times) but I think he only cares about the club. Got a lot of respect for him.

St Mirren say "No"
So, I wonder if there will be a 12 team SPL 1 and 12 team SPL 2, both controlled by the SPL, sharing out the money more equitably, and regional leagues below that. If so, that would be much better than anything I've heard so far.
