  1. Nothing in midfield but not sure what we can do? Maybe three at the back with GShinnie and Raven in midfield? Drop AShinnie back a bit but stick on Sutherland for Taylor. Its Man Utd without Beckham, Keane and Scholes. Cannot do without a whole midfield.
  2. Putting in Foran for OTJ would be the move I think, then trying to get a replacement for Foran's position. Richie has done well as a defensive mid, considering he's always played as a striker or left-sided forward. We could probably have an extra season or two out of him in that position and he has the footballing brain to excel in that post.
  3. By that token, we should be getting rid of Esson, be glad A.Shinnie is going, hopeful that Hayes will never come back and be criticising the likes of Raven, Foran etc that never made it in the lower reaches of England. Instead, we should only be bringing in first team players from Celtic and Motherwell, plus the likes of top Championship and Premiership sides. It just doesn't work like that.
  4. Gavin Rae would be ideal if Jones leaves but I expect he's off to Australia. Also, not the age of player Butcher likes (but I think he's pretty good).
  5. So close to liking Renegade's comment but, unless you mean a young up-n-coming striker who will spend most of his time in the U20s, hoping for a break here and there (I thought that was why we got Oswell), I think only one striker is needed - otherwise it just leads to unhappiness. Maybe, with injuries, another striker at Xmas but not yet. Who knows where the injuries will strike? Oops, I forgot. They will be at centre-back as usual. Anyone else get the feeling, Doran will be away? I'll be unhappy if that's the case mind you.
  6. Wensleydale. (although I prefer porridge, not cheese, for breakfast)
  7. No surprise there. After all, Neil has taken lowly Celtic to the top of the division. And all he had to do was get his only rivals thrown of the league.
  8. Now, that's how to employ a manager. Take note Chelsea - sacking a manager after he wins the double is not the way forward.
  9. Apparently, Butcher wanted to go but Malpas turned it down. Looks as though Chelsea is also off in that case.
  10. I will point out that the Saints sacked SAF as they found out he had agreed (or was well on the way) to become manager of Aberdeen. I view Aberdeen as his greatest achievement. Hope Moyes gets it. Always like to see a Scot doing well - I guess that'll be unusual on this forum.
  11. Allan Johnston - Scotland's greatest manager - will be looking out his whippets soon. Neil Lennon to feel aggrieved. Nothing to do with this story. It's just, well, he always is.
  12. Richie Foran looking for a rented room in Whalley Range (for his trouble and pain)
  13. Can I sue the SPL for stealing my idea? 12, 16 or 18 can be left for a later date - this is the most important bit. An 8 split would have made the league worse but this improves it, plus leaves the door open for massaging the league size. But this guarantees competition and excitement in the future, if implemented properly. That made the 80s a special time in Scottish league football history, despite only 10 teams. This decision is crucial. Competition via a level(ish) playing field is all.
  14. police are interviewing the victim - a red haired man in his 40s from Northern Ireland, currently living in Glasgow. Apparently, the man has stated he has been a victim on a number of occasions.
  15. Everything you say Alex presumes that Scotland away from the UK is the same as Scotland in the UK. That might not be the case, and there's economists on both sides. I'm more in favour of federalism and localism. Then you really get a representative government. The Highlands is ruled from the Highlands, Yorkshire from Yorkshire etc. None of this central belt or central London. Government at the most appropriate level. Does that not sound better as regards democracy? Pity the EU has now given this up for anti-democratic centralism.
  16. Neil Lennon voted for Adams and has said he will boycott the event if the person he wants to win isn't in in the running. (maybe not entirely accurate but, you got to admit, for satire, it's biting!) (no?)
  17. I'd say only Doran was crucial. I'd like Jones but feel Foran could take his place quite readily. Of course that means another Foran then...there's no-one else essential for the team, even though I'd like to see King and Cooper (if he's out of contract) stay.
  18. I am getting a little nervous about Doran. There was talk between him and ICT. Not heard much for a few weeks. He's just such an important player for us, we really need to get it sorted as he needs replacement if not.
  19. Have everything exactly as it is, except for a more equitable distribution of money to encourage challenge at the top and play offs to reward ambition in the SFL1. Such a simple change makes everything vastly better, without the ridiculous splitting of the middle 8.
  20. Ross County are only Top Six first time of asking if you ignore all those years in the SFL1 and 2. Otherwise, you may as well say Ross County got a runners-up medal first time of asking in the Scottish Cup (if you ignore all these years where they weren't in the later stages of the Cup - but then, why would you?) As it is, I'm not bothered what Ross County do. Good luck to them (comparitively) but it has no bearing on this being a great season for ICT.
  21. So the SFA is against ICT, Celtic, Hearts, Rangers and St Mirren now?! Anyone know who they are biased to? Looked like a red card to me. If you disagree, that's because you disagree. Not everything is a conspiracy.
  22. Must be something in it. After all, it isn't like Celtic to see conspiracies everywhere...
  23. The lad Robert Lewandowski looks promising. Doubt we can afford him though. Probably worth giving it a shot. Maybe the possibility of European football might just attract him.
  24. Another Higdon for me. Scored, influenced play, led the line. Been tremendous this year.
  25. I'd play the same team against Celtic if possible. One bad result doesn't mean a bad team. But I'd play more counter-attack. Pull in Doran and Draper. Let St J attack. A draw would suit us far more than them. Let them leave themselves exposed. Basically do to St J what they did to us last time we played.
