David Davis
It could be conjectured that keeping hold of Davis may well be a major outcome on our SPL survival - he can only get better and how are we going to replace him ?

Terry gives five week warning or else

Team for Arabs
My worry is that we were beginning to hit some consistency and now it is chop and change again - lets face it - how could you axe Golobart after the Midden performance ?? Meekins should go straight back in at rite back but how can you jettison Tokely - although he will be suspect to - and targetted by - the pace of the Arabs. McKay to me was an absolute shock choice but he looks like the kind of forward who needs a target centre forward to play off - you simply cannot play him as a lone runner against the Arabs. And then again it would be interesting to see how he would pair off with Tade but that would mean jettisoning Foran ?? We are beginning to be so reactive - almost from game to game - to me that is really, really worrying.

Terry gives five week warning or else
Thought the conceited Englishman had restored his street cred - this is pure narcissism and projecting the blame. And then he goes and reintroduces Golabert, keeps Hogg and Gillet and puts Rosscoe to rite back. That is the sign of a manager who doesnt know his starting defensive back line. He jettisoned Munro, panicked with Hogg and Aldred and then took on loan signings. as Stan rightly states he is the one who has chopped and changed - he is the one who persisted with Proctor in central defence - Terry and Mo are international feckin defenders - give me a feckin break.

Matchday Thread: ICT -V- St Mirren
Well here I go fer more abuse To begin with watching the game on Telly is different to being at the game itself but telly gives you more of a perspective of what actually went rite and what went wrong. That is feckin why people watch the games over and over a game. I was so busy this weekend that I only got round to the game today and I have watched it twice on Alba as most coaches would. We deserved to win. OK so Thompson missed a sitter early doors but that happens. Midden never really looked like scoring and we looked in charge throughout. The goal was another defensive errror as Hogg totally lost Thompson. But what about the corner where Midden had two men with Hayes struggling to cover - after Tynecastle that was disgraceful. Golobart looked the part - I thought he actually gelled well with Hogg. Tokely is a full back but can he hack it when there is a pacy winger up against him. Gillet may actually be a midfielder and I would prefer wee Shinnie. Hayes has to be used more and switched which you cant really do with Foran. Davis worked his socks off but 50% of Tanseys passes were incomplete. Foran may just be becoming a luxury. Shinnie faded but he looked the best player by miles early doors. Where the feck did McKay come from - bizarre selection. Sorry but he aint a striker - Sutherland is - and why leave it to 5 minutes to go to put Tade on ?? Three welcome points but another team selection, another system - that is a worry.

To be fair to Butcher - he has improved dramatically in the recent past - especially since getting my mobile telphone number. Capital Caley - Tade is beginning to replace Rooney (Mickey I presume !!)

Hearts -V- ICT : Matchday Thread
Just watched the highlights - first goal was great movement from Skacel and not Rosscoe's fault - perhaps Gillet got dragged out of position. As fer the second - that really was a defensive disaster - Hayes was clearly looking for the second covering defender - it looked like Gillet was at the front rite back post and Proctor was in the middle - why ??

Gary Speed found dead
Have to admit that I shed a tear or two on the way home today. Depression is such an invisible and cruel illness - my hope is that the fact that Gary secretly hung himself in his family home will only bring the nation to an understanding. We are ot allowed to us the term professionally but it sounds like a "smiling depression" - perhaps it is me but I could see torment in his eyes on Football Focus - I suspect that he probably gave "hints" to many apart from the ones closest to him. People think that only the mentally ill complete suicide. I recall some years ago that I was part of a Public Health Audit looking in to 138 suicides - want to guess how many were known to Mental Health Services or had presented themselves to A&E - 9 - yes feckin NINE.

Well Done Mr O'Reilly
Agree with you CaleyD and not with IHE (that must be a 1st for me, not to agree with IHE - sorry Johndo) but, - after all CaleyD and I were at the game and IHE was only watching courtesy of tv! We were right!!! No red, no yellow. But still no points. The OF win again. When will it ever end. This must be the 1st time I have ever wished that our "dear" neighbours get promoted and be in the same league as us and make the sad central belters travel north twice as many times. See how Kris Commons likes that!? What a wxxxxer. It was a yellow - it was a needless challenge. You, Caley D and the others at the game were evidently affected emotionally and rightly so - but you have to watch the replays and be more balanced. As fer the split second decision I said "That is where Mr O'Reilly should have looked at him for a "second opinion" and again judging by the TV replay he was so convinced about what he had witnessed that he didnt. And then if the linesman did have a clear view and felt that it was the wrong decision he should have stuck his flag in the air and alerted Mr O'Reilly."

Another Loss
Wow - a more balanced thread with a variety of important comments. Irrespective of what anybody thinks this season has been influenced by decisions made at the end of last season, an apparent forgetfulness to look at the cover and the kind of player needed to fill in the holes, the most chaotic pre season in years and a frantic desperation at the start of the season to shore up the faults with loanees and "panic" signings. The back track on Hogg and the signings of Aldred, Tudor-Jones, Golobart and Mckay support that theory. But, to be fair, to Terry and Mo, we then loose some of our more influential players to injury and that kind of disruption is hard to deal with. Add, sorry to say, some poor system choices and evident "favouritism" to the chosen few. It doesnt matter how good a player / coach that you are - IMHO you cannot teach the art of central defending or striking to any player who does not have the "feel" in the first instance. But the squad is creeping back to full strength, we have what looks like a more favourable end to the year and we have a feckin transfer window looming. We are probably very fortunate that we have not been jettisoned several points away from the bottom but we havent - and from what I have seen we are a better team than those around us. I think that we should hit a potential 13 points by the Scottish Cup game. The Arab game and the festive season are mega important to at least get off the bottom - which is very important from a psychological perspective. And people keep on talking about Munro and Duncan - I do think that Munro would have made a difference but it is the type of repalcement player that we have not attained.

St Mirren Game
I suspect that Terry will go with the same gain although I am trying to persuade him to go with: ESSON MEEKINS TOKELY HOGG GILLET COX ROSS DAVIS SHINNIE HAYES FORAN As I alluded to in the Tynie match thread I really dont think that Foran is 100% fit and he will struggle in left midfield if he is. Perhaps this was one of the reasons for playing him up front. As fer Tade - wait for it - I feel a bit sorry for him - I feel that he was standing out when we played a system where his duty was to run and harry all over the front line. He now has Hayes, Foran and Shinnie covering further up the park and he has been playing more in a more traditional striker role which isnt his forte. I would have really tried out Sutherland but Terry clearly isnt convinced. Foran, even less that 100%, is a far better target man than Tade. I have always felt sorry fer Nicky Ross as I feel that he would really benefit from a run in central midfield.

Hearts -V- ICT : Matchday Thread
Agree with the large majority of comments on here - lets face it before the game we would mostly have gone with the starting X1 and the formation but the substitutions simply didnt make sense. I sincerely hope that Meekins was injured but Proctor was the wrong choice - I would have gone for Cox, wee Shinnie or even Ross. I dont know why we didnt change it earlier as Tansey, Foran and Tade were ineffective with Davis having an off day - putting Shane on so late was nonsense - Ross and Shane should have come on neare the hour mark. Will wait fer the highlights but I thought that Rosscoe and/or Hogg were sleeping - and for the last one and not going 2:1 for a corner was schoolboy stuff - was it Proctor ? I also thought that Hayes was decent - there are such high expectations of him but the support still have a sense of anticipation when he moves forward. I really am more concerned about Tansey as he just has summat lacking and he doesnt really gel with Davis - I would like to see Ross back in there. I really dont think that Foran is 100% fit and he will struggle in left midfield if he is. I also thought that we became more defensively set up in the second half. I wasnt complaining as I though that we could spring summat on the break - but when we went 2-1 own it appeared that we could not readjust and the boost" of a more attacking sub never arrived. It did feel / look like a better crowd but I thought that we were more compacted than usual. Both Rosscoe and Terry mentioned it after the game - we need to keep clean sheets, we need to cut out the silly errors at the back and we need to take more of our chances. That is a big ask when we dont have a astute, commanding central defender and we dont have a striker. Having said that I would give Tokely MOM by a country mile with Shinnie, Meekins and Hayes the best of the rest.

Well Done Mr O'Reilly
Human beings will always be fallible. Did any of the other three officials actually have any clearer a view of the incident thna Mr O'Reilly - I doubt if the stand side official or the fourth official did - and the fourth one doesnt have open access to TV replays. The only person who could have seen it was the road side official. That is where Mr O'Reilly should have looked at him for a "second opinion" and again judging by the TV replay he was so convinced about what he had witnessed that he didnt. And then if the linesman did have a clear view and felt that it was the wrong decision he should have stuck his flag in the air and alerted Mr O'Reilly. And look at the feckin Europa League and the carboard cut outs who stand behind both goal lines !!

LENNON'S TRAINING INNOVATION
.Cant believe the lead Sports story in last nights Glasgow Gazette: LENNON LEARNS FROM INVERNESS EXPERIENCE BY EWAN McMURRAY 25/11/11 Neil Lennon is fast learning to put experience into practice as he introduced a new training exercise in to the Parkhead regime, evidently taken from the Inverness experience. "Alan and I discussed this on the coach back from Inverness" mused Lennon. "It may have a touch of controversy about it. and undoubtedly some dogoody purists will have the usual whinges and moans but if it wins you games then it has to be applied." "The lads have dubbed it the "Tansey Trap". It has been really well received". Georgio Samaras took the lead in presenting and demonstrating the exercise to his team mates. "It is not the first time that I have actually carried out the move and it is popular with my fellow geeks. However I have to admit that Neil has developed a training method that is unique and will undoubtedly bring us more success". The exercise - as illustrated below - involves refining the art of getting above an opponent, sheilding the view from the officials, developing the skill of being brushed in the head area and then feigning injury. Alan Thompson added "It is also a very safe exercise as there is no actual player contact as is usually the case, although Georgio is currently receiving treatment for a plastic burn to his ear". ICT boss Terry Butcher declined to comment!!

Well Done Mr O'Reilly
Yes I agree that the main travesty is that we lost the opportunity to win some much needed points - and yes in the ideal world a replay would be the ideal decision / outcome. But Mr O'Reilly cannot change the rule books. All I am saying is that this incident highlights the dilemnas of the modern day referees. And errors will continue until some form of technology is used. As a regular attender at rugby League games I think that the introduction of the video ref and the large viwing screen is brilliant and it certainly doesnt overstretch or interfere with the game - in fact the presentation of the technology actually adds to the entertainment and ensures that fair play is observed. I think that Mr O'Reilly would have called for the video ref if Tansey had been playing for St Helens or he would have put him on report. After the video evidence was viewed and Samaras had been playing for Wigan he too would have faced a fine or a suspension for putting the game in to disrepute. What I am trying to herald is that Mr O'Reilly is merely a human being who takes the flak for the authorities - afine example of the term "scapegoat". I feel that he made a genuine mistake but I also feel that he called it as he had seen it. BUT he then had the bollicks to admit that he had got it wrong.

Well Done Mr O'Reilly
Lets face it and admit it - Tansey's challenge was reckless and needless - he deserved a yellow card. O'Reilly clearly had a view from an angle where the challenge was made ten times worse by the pathetic acting of Mr Samaras. O'Reilly made a spot decision on what he saw at the time. The "linesman" never intervened and O'Reilly doesnt have the real say in going to the fourth official to check what had happened on ESPN. My first reaction when I was watching the telly was that Tansey had clatterd the geek and my other immediate reaction was that he was going to be red carded. That evidently, in the retrospect and on studiously viewing replay, was not afforded to Mr O'Reilly at the time and made it clear that the red card was clearly not indicated and an injustice had been committed. But I will doff ma cap to Mr O'Reilly who could have hidden behind secrecy and given any form of lame excuse but he put his feckin hands up and good on him. What did the ref ever say when he watched the TV replays of Rosscoe's sending off. In my opinion that wasnt even a feckin yellow - Hoggs on the other hand was a deffo red card. Respect to Mr O'Reilly fer being so feckin honest and fair
