  1. Did anyone else hear the Famine Song being sung by some of the Motherwell fans in the first half yesterday ? If it was being aimed at Lionel and Eric they were right out of order.

Saw his goal on The Championship on ITV1 this morning. Beat the offside trap and nutmegged the keeper. Cracker ! Good luck to Don for the future - he could go far. :thumb04: :018: On the subject of the Championship itself, I think it gets a bad press from the English media who are obsessed by the Premiership big clubs. You see honest to goodness football and some really good goals there and far fewer cheating prima donnas.
  3. The Rev McCurry should stick to the pulpit and keep away from football pitches - he was useless this afternoon. That was a definite hand ball towards the end - we should have had a penalty. Ian Black's shooting was pathetic - far too many wasted chances. No, no disgrace to be beaten by Motherwell - Mark Magee has them very well organised. Where was the Caley Thistle team that ran out last Saturday with a clear will to win ? Posted missing today I'm afraid.

Aye, cracking support yesterday from Section G with other Sections joining in too. Could make quite a bit of noise in the North Stand if it was a bit better co-ordinated. :thumb04: :018: ;)
  5. As others have said the dreaded Manager of the Month can be the kiss of death to a team. Brew got it and look where that ended. Far, far better to make steady progress and concentrate on our upcoming games. We can keep the awards on hold until we win the Scottish Cup !!!
  6. I have to say there was just one team on the park yesterday who looked interested in taking all three points. Hibs were really poor and just didn't seem interested. It's obvious that Mixu has lost that dressing room. Ours by contrast must be buzzing just now. Come on the Caley Jags ! :thumb04: :018: ;)
  7. "Butcher boys make mincemeat of Hibs" - headline in today's Sunday Times. Says it all really.
  8. Am I havering or was there an incident involving a glass door at Elgin bus station when Caley fans hit town ? Circa early 1970s ?

Good Luck Don and thank you for your contributions to ICT. Always a good player to watch. Watford have made an excellent signing and a player with much potential.
  10. I have to say that the BBC text service just isn't very good these days and is a bit of a shambles. The ITV Teletext is streets better and seems to be put together by people who are interested in what they're doing.

Is it a lack of confidence thing with Andy Barrowman ? I saw him a couple of times when he played for the County and he didn't lack confidence with them. Perhaps he's a bit overawed by playing in the SPL, I don't know. From what I saw this afternoon watching on the TV he did put in a better shift. Perhaps he'll be brought on by Butcher and Malpas rather better than he was under the previous regime. We'll see.
  12. Here, here to that. Really proud of all our boys this afternoon. Bring on the Arabs !
  13. El Tel is Terry Venables not Terry Butcher or indeed Terry Wogan , the El bit coming from his time managing in Spain! Aye right, but who would you rather have as manager of ICT ? El Tel Butcher or El Tel Venables ?
  14. We are staying up. If we and the team keep that thought at the forefront of our minds and think positively then I'm sure we won't. Let's face it though El Tel has got quite a job on his hands but I'm convinced he/we can do it.

Very sorry to see that Don is leaving The Dump. However, he must feel that the time has come to move on and so will Caley Thistle. Good luck to Don at Watford.
  16. Aye, we must get behind Terry and Maurice for what will almost certainly be the most difficult three months of our SPL history. They have a good track record at Motherwell and know Scottish football well. Let's hope they can do it and keep us up. Good luck to them both and to our team.

Don't think there's any chance of Mark Brown coming back to The Dump. However, I do think we have a very good keeper in Ryan Esson. That penalty save against the Jambos on Saturday was class and certainly reinvigorated our boys.
  18. Aye, Roy thoroughly deserved that red card on Saturday. If he'd kept his head and kept brain connected to tongue and stayed on would we have held out for a 2-2 draw ?
  19. If he doesn't want to be a full-time 100% committed manager of Caley Thistle then Butcher should be told to take a running jump. If this turns out to be the end game then Grassa and the board have messed it up again. Wouldn't surprise me one bit given their track record.
  20. Aye, you are right there. I think he'll prove to be the best keeper we've had at The Dump.
  21. I think he did. It's not an issue where Dougie Imrie is concerned I would say. Who cares if he kisses the ICT badge ? As long as he keeps scoring goals for us that's all that matters.
  22. Aye, I now think it'll be Knox but who will be his assistant ? That will be interesting.

Both our goals this afternoon were excellent and well taken. Gives one hope for the future. The BBC Alba coverage was pretty good but perhaps the odd subtitle might be helpful, i.e. to explain controversial points like Roy's red card. I was listening to Sportsound on BBC Radio Scotland coming home and they had a report on the game but no after-match interviews which they usually do.
  24. Totally enthused by our players and their effort and commitment today. If we can produce this kind of performance every week from now on in then there's no way we'll go down. Aye, it's going to be a fight but these boys are fighters (as I said earlier in the week on another thread).

The more I think about it Archie Knox would be a pretty excellent choice as our new manager. No SPL baggage, good coaching experience and plently of contacts in football to take on new players or arrange loan deals.
