  1. At home preparing the lunch. Heard Charles on Radio Scotland and rushed upstairs to fire up the PC.
  2. Definitely not a decision to be rushed at. To paraphrase another saying "Decide in haste, repent at leisure". I would favour Robbo and Charlie as caretakers until the end of the season. See how things go and take it from there.
  3. Quite agree with Starchief. How would any of us feel if we'd been sacked from our job in such a public manner ? Brew must be gutted and who could blame him for feeling that way ? Good luck to him in whatever he does next in football. He'll not be idle for long - for example, his fitness, healthy eating and coaching ideas are probably light years ahead of the majority of coaches in Scottish football.
  4. Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC - we're the team for the best headlines.
  5. Never good to see a manager leave any club under circumstances like this. I wish Craig well for the future. I think that Brew was just too inexperienced as an SPL manager to take us forward. Some of his team compositions, formations and substitutions clearly demonstrated this. Yes, Robbo and CC are probably a good combination in the short term but once the post is advertised a long and hard look needs to be taken at the contenders. My one hope out of this sorry situation is that we can stay up - it's going to be a fight but I'm sure we've the players to do it.
  6. I seem to recall that Grampian TV had its own local "entertainment" show in the 1960s - The Bothy Nichts. Anyone remember that or am I growing older than I thought ?
  7. Who could name their kid Mike Hunt - lifelong nightmare.
  8. Are you sure about that? Weren't discussions on the go a couple of months back regards a new contract for Brewster? If you are right about "contracts up at the end of the season", what are the board waiting for? Hell to freeze over ?
  9. Nor for Strachan. Can we take heart (no pun intended) from these results and hope for similar success on Saturday against the Jambos ? :thumb04:

It's a hackneyed and trite saying but football is a funny old game. I have a feeling that we'll produce a shock on Saturday and beat the Jambos.....if we play Rooney and Morais up front that is ! Good luck to the boys - it can't be any fun for them playing in a team with our current woeful record. Let's give them all the backing we can.
  11. It's players like Ian who are the future of Caley Thistle, likewise Rooney. There are people at TCS who need to have a reality check and get a grip !
  12. I am convinced that we will survive in the SPL - we have the players to do it but not the manager. Hamilton are certainly no Gretna there's no doubt about that. We're no Gretna either. The next few months are going to be very tough for our team and the supporters alike. I could be accused of looking on the bright side when there isn't one at the moment but I just can't see us going down. We've the fighters in our team to keep us up.
  13. I'm very sorry indeed to hear that Pele is unwell due to stress. He was a football genius there's no doubt about that and in his day he had the team playing some really great football. I wish him a very speedy recovery and return to full health. It would be nice to think he might have a role at TCS at some point in the future but good health comes first - you're nowhere without that.

Well. I'll be going. It's at times like these the team, if not the manager, needs all the support it can get.
  15. No, Barrowman just hasn't cut the mustard for us at all. A big disappointment. However, I'm not at all sure that we should sell him but perhaps a loan arrangement ( with County ? ) might be a better idea in the short term. Talking of loaning out players - where's the logic in offering Zander on loan ( again ) ?
  16. Well, you know what's said about going back - you should never do it as it never works out. It's true in football and in work. The current sorry state of our team sums it all up really.
  17. Could do a lot worse than Pele. It's a total mystery why there's no role for him at the club.
  18. I went to see Newcastle v West Ham on Saturday - that was ?29.00 which I didn't think was too bad for a Premiership game. Had a decent seat with a good view of the pitch too.
  19. Birds of Fire by the Mahavishnu Orchestra.
  20. Singing Together - I remember that really well from my days in the Central School. I really remember a song which was drummed into us called Aiken Drum whose coat was made of the "guid roast beef". Always remember that one.
  21. I think the word "Paki" has been regarded as racist and derogatory since the early 1970s when skinheads went around "Paki bashing". It's been used also in terms of Asian corner shops but today its use is not regarded as being acceptable. A bit like the n-word (remember Ron Atkinson's use of it on TV led to his downfall ?) has become when referring to black people. An unintended spin-off of this word has been that when the name of Pakistan is used on the TV and radio news it is frequently incorrectly pronounced as Pak-ee-stan.
  22. Aye, the Vigurs goal was a cracker and two scored by Morais were pretty good too. Worth staying up for last night. I know that one swallow doesn't make a summer but might our luck be changing ?
  23. Oh dear, another bad day at The Dump.
  24. Aye, Rooney on for Barrowman would be a good idea. However, substitutions are undoubtedly Brew's weakest point as a tactician.
