  1. Having JT is brilliant............if we can afford it. I don't think we can. Think Grant would have been more than useful this season. Seen him play three times and he has been outstanding. I think we are entitled to dwell on his departure. No problem when guys who have served us really well are allowed to move on (with dignity) because someone better has come on the scene. This is not the case. Cheers.
  2. The reason why we have such young inexperienced player playing in these positions is down to Butcher. For example, whilst I'm not certain he would have started every game but, Grant Munro was allowed to leave and has been outstanding for County this season. Even being suggested he could win First Division POY. Appreciate it's not the same standard but there is little difference from the bottom of the SPL and top of the first for me. How good would it have been for these young kids to play with a real solid pro like Grant? Also don't buy the finance part either. TB could have signed cheap back up goalie and used the money being paid to JT (big money by our standards) on someone who could play every week. Was a replacement for Ryan Easson high on your list of priorities? No, not on mine either. There have been some really strange decisions made by TB and they were his alone.
  3. Luke, I admire your optimistic view but have to disagree with some. TB is responsible for the team he has assembled. He sourced them, he gave them contracts and he sets them out for every match. He is no different from any other manager in this regard as they all 'live or die' by their choices. I don't necessarily believe that dismissal (even if we could afford it thanks to the new contracts awarded) is the right call but I do expect him to be scrutinised in what he chooses to do. Blind faith is all very well but....
  4. Fact One: We have two international defenders with nearly 140 international caps between them and our defending (not just our defence) is a shambles. Why? Fact Two: Our management team saw no worth in Garry MacKay Steven (the young Highland boy that the Dundee Utd fans were singing 'Are you Messi in disguise? to yesterday). Forget the bull about him rejecting an offer. He was not rated or wanted. I make no apology for keeping on about this as I think it is a clear statement of intent from Butcher. As clear as the departure of Grant Munro was. Not sure which of these two facts cause me the most concern. There has been no progress at the club, on the park, since shoes off debacle of Brewster's departure. Anyone who suggests there has been should be prepared to provide some evidence to the contrary. I gave my tickets to my brother and his son as a birthday treat. Kid hates me now....... Wake up and smell the coffee. We are as poor a side now as we have ever been at any point in our SPL history. Butcher is getting preferential treatment that none of his predecessors (Charlie included) did. His image, persona and media status are all saving him from real subjective analysis of his career at ICT. How long will it continue?
  5. We'll agree to disagree. I would have picked GMS over OTJ any time for reasons I have stated many times previously. Why is OTJ here? I know the answer and so do you. Not certain about the refusal of GMS to accept a contract. Take your word for it as I don't know. What I do know is that he accepted an offer from Airdrie and an offer from Dundee Utd. You are also correct in stating that it is not comparing like with like. GMS has played almost every game for his club since he has signed for them over the past two seasons (nearly 50?), OTJ has played about a dozen (half as sub). Don't get started on the comparable wage packets of either. As I understand it..........that's scary!
  6. Can you explain the logic in signing OTJ then? His injury record is every bit as bad if not worse. If the truth be told, aside from his one major injury at Liverpool GMS has played approximately 50 games over the past two seasons! Hardly injury prone? My worry is clear: TB does not value players like GMS as they do not fit into his preferred playing mode. I like players like GMS because they play the game the way it should be. I will pay good money to watch players like this. I will pay nothing to watch hit and hope football. I am not alone.
  7. I find this quite a difficult one. We live in a society that gives people the chance to reform. Even those who commit the most appalling atrocities. Should sport be so different? I'm not sure.

I also remember an American commentator describing Colin Montgomerie in similar terms!! If I had known last night of Jocky's passing I would have marked it by having a pint of vodka and coke in the Caley Club - which is probably just about the only place in Inverness where you could afford such a thing. The pint of vodka and coke was apparently an integral part of Jocky's game. Jocky should be viewed as a victim. He was unfortunate to be born before the days of 'Diet Coke'. His life could have turned out oh so differently!

Agree with Starchief. Lennon gets away with murder because of his 'anointed' standing within the Celtic support. Some of his decisions are absolutely baffling with the full back debacle yesterday another in a long line. He is to play for Cha's sending off, no one else. He picked him!
  10. I wouldn't sign players that were not willing to relocate (themselves not necessarily their families). That solves the problem.
  11. .....is a bawbag who should be kept as far away from TCS as possible. Thankfully, we don't have the money to squander on him!
  12. 100% agreement CD. There is, and never has been, any doubt in my mind that the club has done far more for the town than vice versa. Public agencies such as the council and INE (in its day) have chipped in also.
  13. Love to all at this very difficult time x

Davie, in comparison to some of the defending produced in an ICT jersey this season, Grantie looks like Maldini and Beckenbaur's love child. Anyone can handle replacement just as long as what you replace it with is better than what you had!

Lets deal in facts only. No 'what ifs', 'could have been' or 'should have been'. hislopsoffsideagain lays out the numbers very clearly for us all to see in his points comparison post. No one can argue with that. Lots are trying to provide reasons but the numbers are the numbers irrespective. Another fact is that our football management costs are higher now than they ever have been. And one final fact: If my auntie had balls she'd be my uncle!
  16. 14 and Special Brew yes, but not now!

  18. From what I am lead to believe, Whyte has control and title of all the property assets. As long as the company continues to trade be it in a normal format if someone were daft enough to buy the club as it stands or in administration, these assets remain with the company. The minute this ceases to be the case i.e. liquidation, then they effectively become the property of Whyte to dispose of as he sees fit. As CD rightly pointed out, the only potential pitfall is to prove he as acted illegally in his role as a company director. This will be extremely challenging as, until February 14th no one was suggesting this was the case and since then, the club has been run by the administrators. And, despite all the hot air to the contrary, no suggestion of charges have been made by anyone in authority. Makes sense to me. The only man that doesn't seem to be concerned is Whyte!
  19. As I understand it, the structure is such that Craig Whyte has effective ownership of the assets mentioned previously and they cannot be touched by HMRC or any other creditor.
  20. I would suggest that Craig Whyte's plan is entirely on schedule. He has no interest in football or Rangers (his former father in law has remarked on this in several media articles and been joined by others) and merely views this as another financial transaction. His plan now depends on liquidation and he will do everything in his power to ensure this happens whilst protesting the contrary. His administrators ( and remember he appointed them despite HMRC seeking others) have procrastinated and delayed long enough to ensure that liquidation is almost a formality. If anyone else can show me an example of a business, never mind a football club, that is saddled with the debt and potential liabilities that Rangers are, were the administrators haven't taken immediate steps to reduce costs I would be amazed. Liquidation affords Whyte, thanks to his secure and preferential creditor status, the perfect vehicle for asset strip and value realisation. How can Rangers 2012 (Sponsored by Kleenex0 Ltd function without Ibrox Stadium, the car park and, to a lesser extent, Murray Park? Whyte is bang on track to deliver exactly what he set out to do.......................asset strip and financial gain.
  21. Wylde did not offer to stay for the season and play for free though. Now rumoured that he is on the verge of signing for Southampton. No transfer fee = huge signing on fee, not to mention championship wages. Smart not sacrifice. Also have little admiration for people earning in excess of £1 million a year offering to work for no pay for 8-10 weeks. Their tax rebate (how appropriate!) will cover much of their loss. And, the reason the game is in such a mess is due to their greed and owners stupidity. Whilst I'm at it, when will footballers work out that wage deferral is absolutely pointless in this situation? The club has no money now and will have no money in three months time!
  22. I'm more of a cynic OCG. Wylde may wish to portray himself as a martyr but for me is is clear that he would not leave without having something to go to. In January he was the subject of a £400k bid from Bolton that was rejected (sounds ridiculous know doesn't it!) and would hazard a fair wager that there are still a number of clubs ready to snap him up now he has been released. If he had stayed, he would not be getting his wages and would still require a transfer fee to be released (until the inevitable happens). The Administrator would have no choice but to accept his request as others are refusing to go without a pay off (questionable if they would get one or not?) and may not have the options available to young Wylde. Suggest this is very good PR by Wylde and his team. And, once clearance is given by FIFA, expect him to sign for an English club on double his wages. He looks like a saint and doubles his money!
  23. They are in no position to stop him leaving as they can't honour his contract. No doubt, as a free, he will already have a club lined up by his agent.
  24. Thanks Bauhaus. I understood that he was willing to accept a pay/play deal but wasn't offered one. This puts a slightly different slant on things. That said, I would still taken a punt on GMS before OTJ but football is a matter of opinion! Cheers.
  25. Your right Yngwie, last night wasn't one of his better games. Friends with a couple of Arabs who go to every game. They cannot believe what they have picked up for nothing and wind me up constantly about him not being at his 'local' club (geography, like the women, leaves a lot to be desired in Dundee ) . Point I am trying to make (badly!) is that surely we should be concerned that our coaching staff didn't think he was worth the risk, certainly when compared to other risks they have taken? Had also hoped that someone may be able to to correct me if I'm wrong in believing that he was prepared to play for a low wage and appearance money but was still rejected. Always like to see Highland boys at our club.
