  1. Craig Whyte still holds all the cards. He will decide who he disposes of his assets to. If a CVA is accepted he wins. If liquidation happens he hits the jackpot. Very, very shrewd man. Anyone's still believe that David Murray was duped by Whyte?
  2. CD is spot on. Urban (semi urban to be fair, pretend city) myth!
  3. I think 7th place was excellent, It doesn't take us to 5th however, as we didn't qualify for the top half of the league and were playing teams dubbed, rightly so, lesser. Nonetheless, it was a a great result. The promotion is being put in context by RCFC this season and can no longer be viewed as exceptional or amazing. Taking the team who just managed to avoid relegation from the same league to the title the following season, is a far greater achievement that taking the relegated team from the top league straight back up. How about analysing his transfer market activity (remember every in and out without transfer fee costs the club money)?
  4. Nothing beats the unconditional love or blind faith exhibited by those who see no wrong in anything the Messiah (aka Terry Butcher aka A Very Naughty Boy!) does. Just because other chose not to walk the path of righteousness with blinkers and a halo, seeing no wrong, hearing no wrong and not deviating from the scriptures............does not make them any less of a follower merely more prone to lapses! Now back in the real world.......... This is a forum for debate not a propaganda machine. And whilst we're debating - Can you give me examples in support of 'Butcher achieved wonderful things at ICT in the last two seasons'? I will give him great credit for bringing the team back up straight away after they were relegated by Brewster and him (remember he dropped our star keeper in crucial games at the end of the season with disastrous consequences). His signing of Hayes looks a fantastic move and Cox looked decent. Davis didn't want to be here, Shinnie has great potential and as for the rest of them...............................the jury is out on some but most are already convicted! The comparison with the late great Brian Clough is insulting to his memory. Irrespective of the level, Clough's teams played football. Real good, decent football with a solid edge. Kenny Shiels can do it at Kilmarnock and did it at Tranmere as a coach. TB never has and never will. He is old school. Shout, bawl, run, kick. That is why he has ended up here.
  5. Having JT is brilliant............if we can afford it. I don't think we can. Think Grant would have been more than useful this season. Seen him play three times and he has been outstanding. I think we are entitled to dwell on his departure. No problem when guys who have served us really well are allowed to move on (with dignity) because someone better has come on the scene. This is not the case. Cheers.
  6. That'll be why there's a Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland, a Royal Horticultural Society of Ireland, a Royal University of Ireland, a Theatre Royal in Waterford etc. etc. etc Oh and lets not forget the Royal Irish Academy and the Royal Irish Yacht Club etc. etc. Thanks for that Alex. Appreciate the advice. I'll think twice next time.
  7. The reason why we have such young inexperienced player playing in these positions is down to Butcher. For example, whilst I'm not certain he would have started every game but, Grant Munro was allowed to leave and has been outstanding for County this season. Even being suggested he could win First Division POY. Appreciate it's not the same standard but there is little difference from the bottom of the SPL and top of the first for me. How good would it have been for these young kids to play with a real solid pro like Grant? Also don't buy the finance part either. TB could have signed cheap back up goalie and used the money being paid to JT (big money by our standards) on someone who could play every week. Was a replacement for Ryan Easson high on your list of priorities? No, not on mine either. There have been some really strange decisions made by TB and they were his alone.
  8. Luke, I admire your optimistic view but have to disagree with some. TB is responsible for the team he has assembled. He sourced them, he gave them contracts and he sets them out for every match. He is no different from any other manager in this regard as they all 'live or die' by their choices. I don't necessarily believe that dismissal (even if we could afford it thanks to the new contracts awarded) is the right call but I do expect him to be scrutinised in what he chooses to do. Blind faith is all very well but....
  9. Fact One: We have two international defenders with nearly 140 international caps between them and our defending (not just our defence) is a shambles. Why? Fact Two: Our management team saw no worth in Garry MacKay Steven (the young Highland boy that the Dundee Utd fans were singing 'Are you Messi in disguise? to yesterday). Forget the bull about him rejecting an offer. He was not rated or wanted. I make no apology for keeping on about this as I think it is a clear statement of intent from Butcher. As clear as the departure of Grant Munro was. Not sure which of these two facts cause me the most concern. There has been no progress at the club, on the park, since shoes off debacle of Brewster's departure. Anyone who suggests there has been should be prepared to provide some evidence to the contrary. I gave my tickets to my brother and his son as a birthday treat. Kid hates me now....... Wake up and smell the coffee. We are as poor a side now as we have ever been at any point in our SPL history. Butcher is getting preferential treatment that none of his predecessors (Charlie included) did. His image, persona and media status are all saving him from real subjective analysis of his career at ICT. How long will it continue?
  10. That's just silly. No way an Irishman would play for 'Royal' anyone !
  11. I await the first post to say he's signed a pre contract agreement with Barcelona............
  12. We'll agree to disagree. I would have picked GMS over OTJ any time for reasons I have stated many times previously. Why is OTJ here? I know the answer and so do you. Not certain about the refusal of GMS to accept a contract. Take your word for it as I don't know. What I do know is that he accepted an offer from Airdrie and an offer from Dundee Utd. You are also correct in stating that it is not comparing like with like. GMS has played almost every game for his club since he has signed for them over the past two seasons (nearly 50?), OTJ has played about a dozen (half as sub). Don't get started on the comparable wage packets of either. As I understand it..........that's scary!
  13. Can you explain the logic in signing OTJ then? His injury record is every bit as bad if not worse. If the truth be told, aside from his one major injury at Liverpool GMS has played approximately 50 games over the past two seasons! Hardly injury prone? My worry is clear: TB does not value players like GMS as they do not fit into his preferred playing mode. I like players like GMS because they play the game the way it should be. I will pay good money to watch players like this. I will pay nothing to watch hit and hope football. I am not alone.
  14. I find this quite a difficult one. We live in a society that gives people the chance to reform. Even those who commit the most appalling atrocities. Should sport be so different? I'm not sure.
  15. I also remember an American commentator describing Colin Montgomerie in similar terms!! If I had known last night of Jocky's passing I would have marked it by having a pint of vodka and coke in the Caley Club - which is probably just about the only place in Inverness where you could afford such a thing. The pint of vodka and coke was apparently an integral part of Jocky's game. Jocky should be viewed as a victim. He was unfortunate to be born before the days of 'Diet Coke'. His life could have turned out oh so differently!
  16. Agree with Starchief. Lennon gets away with murder because of his 'anointed' standing within the Celtic support. Some of his decisions are absolutely baffling with the full back debacle yesterday another in a long line. He is to play for Cha's sending off, no one else. He picked him!
  17. I wouldn't sign players that were not willing to relocate (themselves not necessarily their families). That solves the problem.
  18. Mmm the dilemma........ who do I book for my 50th? CD or CaleyMad? Personality and opinion v anger and rage? The choices. Bugger it, I'll just get a karaoke!
  19. .....is a bawbag who should be kept as far away from TCS as possible. Thankfully, we don't have the money to squander on him!
  20. 100% agreement CD. There is, and never has been, any doubt in my mind that the club has done far more for the town than vice versa. Public agencies such as the council and INE (in its day) have chipped in also.
  21. Love to all at this very difficult time x
  22. Davie, in comparison to some of the defending produced in an ICT jersey this season, Grantie looks like Maldini and Beckenbaur's love child. Anyone can handle replacement just as long as what you replace it with is better than what you had!
  23. Lets deal in facts only. No 'what ifs', 'could have been' or 'should have been'. hislopsoffsideagain lays out the numbers very clearly for us all to see in his points comparison post. No one can argue with that. Lots are trying to provide reasons but the numbers are the numbers irrespective. Another fact is that our football management costs are higher now than they ever have been. And one final fact: If my auntie had balls she'd be my uncle!
  24. 14 and Special Brew yes, but not now!
