  1. Every honour that was stolen from Scottish football during the Murray regime should be stripped from Rangers immediately. Unlike Fred Goodwin (long story on another thread ) who had his decisions ratified by a board, regulatory authority and financial ombudsman, David Murray took decisions as the boss and owner. He and he alone is culpable for this diabolical situation. The bag of weasels, nest of vipers etc passed, so graciously, to the ultimate asset stripper for £1 was built and created by Sir David Murray (let's see how long he keeps his title for a crime much greater than Fred's? Oh but hold on..........he's a huge donor to the Conservative Party and hates the Nats so.......). The use of EBT as a means of financial gain allowed Murray to spent way beyond Rangers means in buying and funding players they could not afford. This is cheating and illegal. Are we seriously to believe that one of the most able and successful businessmen that our country has produced didn't know exactly what he was doing, why he was doing it and when? Don't be so naive. Rangers won titles and trophies whilst operating to different rules from the rest of those in the competition. They have been caught and now need punished. Happens in sport throughout the world and must happen in Scotland now. If no action is taken this will be a carte blanche to continue. As for Craig Whyte...............his plans are moving on exactly as scheduled...........liquidation may be next but who cares............he owns all the assets, has preferential status (has probably used the Ticketus money to pay back his debt write down to Lloyds already!) and will sit back and wait for the 'Rangers cannae die' brigade to come and pay him vast sums of money to secure Ibrox, Murray Park and the rest. He will make a packet. Last theory.........is it beyond it to believe (as has been suggested to me by someone, allegedly, in the know) that once the dust has settled, Craig Whyte's cup runneth over, that a percentage of the net gain is to be split with Mr Murray? ??????
  2. Top man. A solution would be welcomed by a lot of punters everywhere. Appreciate we disagree at times (and probably will continue to!) but have never and will never doubt your commitment to the cause!
  3. Come on KB.........if Dundee Utd can have an Inspiral Carpets tune that everyone knows the words to surely we can manage something? Inverness, Inverness The night life's crap and the town's a mess So get your thermals on and your best stay pressed Your gonna get tanked in Inverness As the great Bamber Gascoigne said........starter for ten!
  4. Thank you C (note I have removed your title for previous misbehaviour !)
  5. Agree entirely with Dougal. Why do people choose to be so naive? No one can seriously believe that an ex England or Rangers captain would refuse either of the jobs because he's managing ICT. Why would you try to convince yourself this is a remote possibility? What's more worrying is that I am engaging in a thread that suggests he is even on the radar............ 'The English FA announce that Terry Butcher (former Inverness, Brentford, Motherwell, Sunderland, Sydney and Coventry manager) is to replace Fabio Capello (former Real Madrid (twice), AC Milan, Juventus and Roma manager) as the new national head coach. We had to work really hard to persuade Terry to give up his hugely successful career in Inverness (average home crowd 3240). Maurice Malpas will be his assistant and Tommy Cummings will now look after Wembley Stadium" Note to editors: Terry's managerial honours are: Scootish Football League runners up 2005 and Scottish First ~Division Champions 2010. Fabio Cappello has won the Champions League, 8 Seria A titles, 2 La Liga titles, 4 Italian FA Cups, 1 Italian Supercup and 1 UEFA Supercup. Runners up don't count for Fabio. Terry has as much chance of being the next England manager as me or Mike Basset!!
  6. Drugs are evil and the Potteries..........well.....enough said. Understand 'Arry dead keen to take the Euros but only if they are of small denominations and used..............here all week!
  7. Fully accept the ridiculous situation where some are chastised and others aren't. Joke. But if you carry on with this approach GJ, suggest you won't be seeing much of the team in the future! Bit OTT?
  8. Change the colour of hair to grey and Dils Hendry looks exactly the same today!
  9. Brilliant! Says it all really......
  10. Alex any stock market listed company that is led by it's CE is in breach of the LSE rules. A listed company will have a 'scheme of delegation' under which its CE/CEO will be given autonomy. Anything out with this scheme will be a board decision. The person who leads the board (supposedly on behalf of the shareholders) is the chairman not the CE unless of course they hold both positions (common in SMEs but almost unheard of in a listed company). This was not the case in RBS. For too long, individuals of 'the proper standing' have been able to sit back and take the money when in positions of importance without fear of consequence. This is just another example of the 'hired help' being targeted and hung out to dry whilst those with ultimate responsibility hide. I Goodwin is guilty. Just as guilty as the rest of them and not one iota more.
  11. Interesting to note your definition of led. For the purposes of corporate governance, any company is controlled by a board of directors and a chair. It is impossible for any CE to carry out an acquisition of that magnitude without the full support and approval his board. At no point did I make a statement that Fred Goodwin was working class. I merely gave you the facts. These remain that the only individual pursued for this decision is the one who grew up where I said he grew up, attended school where I said he attended school and whose father was employed doing what I said he did. If this leads you to the conclusion that this means I am promoting him as 'working class' you are clearly wrong. For me, the class system is promoted by the likes for Cameron and his cohorts to keep the rest of us in place. As I see it there are only too categories: those who contribute and those who don't! I am no apologist for Fred Goodwin but find it astounding that the sheer hypocrisy of the decision taken is not being challenged more openly. Nothing in your post make him a more justifiable target than any of the many other lords. ladies, barons, commanders and knights involved in this process. Why only him? Agree totally about the system, it is repugnant. There were six 'honoured' individual on the RBS board and seven on the FSA (without even looking at the Bank of England). One has had his 'honour' removed whilst the rest waltz around Windsor, Kensington and Chelsea free from humiliation, responsibility or blame (aside of course from Sir Tom McKillop who was last heard of hiding in a mine near Darvel!). None have been targeted by Murdoch's press.
  12. Driving the other morning and listening to a phone in on Radio Scotland about Sir Fred Goodwin. Felt quite happy after all the doom and gloom about how intolerant our society can be at times as caller after caller saw this gesture for exactly what it is, a token gesture. I do not support the honours system in any way and will bow my head or doff my cap to no man, irrespective of his position or title but........ isn't ironic that the only individual with responsibility for this debacle that is pursued for retribution and humiliation is the son of a sparky from Paisley! The decision to buy ABN Amro did not belong solely to Fred Goodwin in the same way the the successful decision to acquire Nat West was hot solely his. Every decision made by a CE is ratified by a board and the responsibility is collective. In this case it's even worse as subsequent approval was given by the FSA and the Bank of England! If you check the names and titles of those who were party to the approval (and in effect the final go ahead) of, quite possibly, the most appalling business decision ever you will find that, where applicable, they all retain there prestige. None of these guys have been subject to the Goodwin treatment but all are 'collectively responsible'. Why? Could it be that they belong to the Eton/Harrow set now so prevalent within our government? Can't go after our own can we Davie? The Tories didn't even have the guts to put one of their one on show on the radio, leaving it to their lap dog Willie Rennine. A poor excuse for a political leader, he trotted out excuse after excuse for the non action even coming up with the classic- 'Just because there are many guilty parties doesn't mean you don't pursue some!' When challenged by a caller as to why, he had no answer other than because. We all know from school that because is not an answer to why! Yet another example of class humiliation from this pathetic public school government, living in their fantasy world of mansions and Bolly, intent on winning favour in the Home Counties at the expense of the rest of us. Come the glorious day!
  13. Barking up the wrong tree. The chant of -'There's Only One Ryan Christie' is somewhat misleading. There are, are you would expect many more than one. Although probably a fair bit younger, this one looks old enough to be Charlie's Dad!
  14. The $64 million question? Is it our very own Craig Whyte? Is it the new Vladamir Romanov? Could we have our very own Roman Abramovich? The options are endless........ Rather than (as usual) having a quiet wee pop at those who are actually involved in the club surely we should be seeking answers from those who want to be involved in the club? Whether we like all that has happened to date or not, the fact remains that all of those involved in the running of our club since inception have taken us from league entry to the SPL within 10 years where we have remained for all but one season. Appreciate not everything in the garden is rosy but for me, it's far from shabby! Lessons should be learned from the experiences of Hearts and Rangers. So who are Muirfield Mills and what are their commitments? If I have missed the announcement I apologise.
  15. In the current climate any commitment is welcomed. Cheers to Orion
  16. Got sent this text yesterday: Rangers FC Press Release: Fans are reminded that the deadline for renewing season tickets for 20-17-18 is midday tomorrow. Please ensure you have made the necessary arrangements in advance Had a good chuckle.....
  17. Murray and Co have to take a hell of a lot of the blame. Having said that with MIH in debt of over £700 million he probably has bigger concerns. Whyte has made his own nest and has to shoulder the blame for the here and now. Nothing he didn't know pre deal has transpired and he still manage to lift the league trophy at Ibrox days after taking control (crass stupidity of the highest order!). He then went on to make promises in the knowledge that he couldn't deliver them. Madness. No apologist for the metal man by Whyte has to take full responsibility for where he sits and the the flack for telling porkies! How much was Aunt Sally promised? Each year and every year?
  18. Interesting. If a 'new club' was formed. Would they retain SPL status? After all, if they are a new club wouldn't they have to apply to enter the SFL first? It would be unfair on teams who don't abuse the tax system, if Rangers started again with a new club, and were automatically granted access into the SPL. Lots of First Division teams who pay their taxes would have something to say. Actually, the team that gets relegated from the SPL, whilst not abusing the tax system to enhance their team could have a case. CD is right. It would be up to those who run the SPL. That would be an interesting meeting eh? Sadly, this kind of 'prepack' deal is all to common in business nowadays. Fold Friday, pay no one, start Monday. Some of the worst examples involve small companies who then go and give the 'newco' more credit ! Better examples pay everyone but the institutional creditors and often do the deals with their knowledge. Good example close to a big mountain that people ski on on the A9 not the A82. Fundamentally wrong. How will the chiefs of our top league react to a reformed Rangers (suggest in name only!)? Roll over and have their bellies tickled I suspect.........
  19. Lot of merit in what you are proposing CD particularly the figures. Trouble is that I'm not certain that the reduction from the £15 for Saturday to £10 would make that much difference but happy to stand corrected. Never being convinced that the problem we have is for 'big games' (appreciate you no longer see this as a big game but I do) as we will always have football fans of lots of different guises that will want to attend these events for a variety of reasons. Not as many as I would like and I accept the interest has tailed off dramatically from the heady days of entry to the SPL. Think we still need to focus on getting footfall in for the lower profile games. All for cheap season tickets for kids, £3 entry to specific games and any other promotion that will bring numbers up. Encourage our own. Still think it's right for the Celtic game !
  20. Both of my elder children worked from the age of 14 and had their own 'spends'.
  21. Rumours abound in Glasgow that 'going bust' is only a matter of time. That time will be dictated by when the SPL title is out of their reach. Suggested to me that Craig Whyte's plan has always been to put into admin, write off the debt but retain ownership of the stadium. A newly created Rangers Football Club will be formed and buy the stadium from him and he will walk away with a tidy wedge. Very clever approach that will net him a fortune which, considering how little of his own cash he has put into the deal, will represent the smartest football dealings since Glazers bought Man Utd and switched the debt immediately. Good or bad for Scottish football? Part of me thinks it's a clear shot across the bows to all the wannabes involved in our game that this ridiculous situation can't continue but ulitimately think our game would suffer without the associated revenue from the OF. All said, would be very happy if I never heard a song about a German queen or a British Empire ever again !
  22. Appear to be on a loser here ! Suppose it's not to be unexpected when you're not in the 'next to nothing' camp. Not 'digging my heals heels in' CD just giving you a clear steer on why I have the viewpoint I do. Every day in life you hear people talk about the things they can't afford to do whilst making choices to do other things. Human nature I suppose. Same as the 'it's all right for you' viewpoint when it most cases it's not really it's just a choice scenario. Joe, as stated perviously, I agree that there is considerable scope for offers and incentives to be delivered throughout the season. These need to be pushed further and I hope they will be. That said, I doubt you'll ever see the day when a child can walk in to Victoria Park and pay £3 to see a cup game versus Celtic? OGC, I pay £72 per month for SKY (full buhna I know!) and that's my choice. Accept that I may have exaggerated the price of the cinema but it is still very expensive (food is ridiculous!). In conclusion, I still belive you guys are using the wrong game to promote this approach. Club needs cash and needs to make hay when the sunshines even if that means asking a bit more from the home combine than in other fields!
  23. Never saw that one coming. Good luck Johnny!
  24. This the fundamental problem with our attendances at TCS. For far too many people, the whole top flight football scenario has now become mundane hence our continual inability to sell out the home support sections for (what I still and always will class as) a high profile game. Games like this will not be with us all the time and to think that they will be smacks of arrogance. The economics of a £5 concession don't stack up. Even if you can sell three times as many tickets we will incur increased costs in stewarding and policing. in addition we do not have the infrastructure to deal with any catering spin off should this be offered. Don't even know if it is of any benefit to the club anyway! Appreciate that £15 is not cheap. But some that I have heard moaning think nothing about spending fortunes on computer games or £6 for a tub of popcorn at the VUE. Life is full of choices and if some have higher priorities with their money so be it. That is what choice is all about. The issue about the price of football is separate. It has moved way beyond where it was once pitched and won't come back. Why? Because as long as there are clubs stupid enough to pay obscene wages the punters will get fleeced. How we change that is difficult and I, for one, have no answer. What I will say is, that in the present climate taking all factors into account, Saturday's admission prices are not bad. The club will get some solid income and those that choose to prioritise can sacrifice something else for a ticket. Remember a concession is less than two packets of fags, less than four pints of Stella, a cinema ticket and a packet of popcorn and less than a quarter of what many people pay for SKY TV. All of these seem affordable to the majority therefore you can only assume that the ticket is too. If your dilemma is - "Football on my own and a few pints" or "Football with the wee one" then that is a solely choice for the punter not the fault of the club. I want all six of us to go to Dubai at Easter but the chances are four of us will go to Spain. That's my choice not the fault of the holiday companies.
