  1. Ok, here goes....the Musket came in to being in the early 1600's and getting caught up in the hype of the new weapon the French formed a new Kings Regiment (Bodyguards), named them after and issued them with Muskets. Les Mousquetaires du Roi, to give them their proper title, quickly came to realise that the Musket was useless for the job they were performing, and although the name stuck, they quickly resorted to using the far more efficient and effective sword.
  2. And they can join the Nessie Kids Club. Just keep them away from all the disbelievers....they'd probably end up telling them there was not Santa as well!!!

I've got no idea, and won't be asking.....why not just come along, help out and and find out?
  4. I don't buy the reflection theory either..... - The location of Nessie would mean that the trees on the opposite bank were obscuring line of sight between the "reflection" and the house. - Why would only the one house be reflected and not the other, in fact, nothing else is reflected in the water. - The angle of the shadows indicate the sun is high in the sky, any refracted light likely to be strong enough to generate such a clear reflection would not be hitting the water. I'm also certain that we're dragging this thread wayyyy of topic and about to witness a split!!!
  5. They perhaps came through the academy, but many of them are not "home grown" as Barca would, like many bigger clubs, have been creaming the best young players from other teams. For every youngster that made it, you're probably looking at dozens of others who were uprooted, dragged half way across the country (or even further) and then dumped when they didn't measure up....many who may have been perfectly good players for other teams, but are now lost to the game as a result.
  6. I believe ajs is right in what he says.
  7. Might be an idea to book it asap as I believe it's proving to be very popular.

With a firmer forecast now in for the rest of the week it's now fairly certain that people will be needed at the Stadium to help clear the snow from the pitch. I was down there today and the pitch itself is holding up well under the snow. The USH is already on, but only at a level sufficient to prevent frost setting in...it's not going to melt the snow and waterlog the pitch, nor is it going to damage the grass. Everything, and more, is being done to ensure the game goes ahead and the team can continue it's run of form. Much of the snow was cleared from the stands and walkways around the pitch today and plans are already in place to get the carpark, pavements and external areas cleared ahead of time. As soon as I know what time the club want/need people there I'll post it here.
  9. You could probably list 101 things that draw fans to come see ICT, but what's more important is the reason they keep coming back. Nope, not SPL football...it's the sense of belonging and how quick fans are to welcome new fans into the fold (even if it's not obvious some times). I also think that is very much a Highlands thing and few other places could replicate it. Up here we think nothing of giving a stranger a nod in the street or saying good morning or whatever...do that down south and you'll get a strange look...or worse. That extends into the football. All any stranger has to do is make it known he is willing to talk ICT and they're made welcome and invited to join your company. That seed of interest is nurtured and people are accepted into the fold without prejudice...what's even better is the fact that we, as a community, tend to do it without thinking about it. This forum is full of people who's "First Encounters" would have been made in the above manner. From there, I think people just get addicted to the ICT mentality...an enigma much like the Loch Ness Monster in that, we all know it exists, some claim to have seen it, but nobody really understands it!!!
  10. Charles, can you give an accurate mathematical representation for this?
  11. I was just thinking that Joe....don't want to tempt fate by doing a t-shirt until we have all the dates!!!
  12. Unfortunately I have other commitments that day so won't be able to make the game.
  13. My gut feeling is that he will sign another year but probably move on at the end of the season.
  14. These forums could provide enough material and characters to keep a cartoonist busy with ICT related strips for many years
  15. McDonald lied and he deserved some kind of punishment for that, even though I do have some sympathy and understanding as to why he may have done what he did. What bothers me more is that we have one of the games biggest liars (Lennon) and one of politics biggest liars (Reid) trying to take the moral high ground over the issue. It's little wonder the game is being dragged through the gutter when the SFA, SPL and Scottish Press are providing these guys with any kind of credible platform to spout from. It's at the stage where it no longer matters whether Lennon and Reid are right in their (veiled) accusations. Their actions and the manner in which they have conducted themselves has caused huge disruption and brought the game even further into disrepute...and for that they should be punished. If Dundee can be hit with a 25 point deduction for bringing the game into disrepute by going into administration, then Celtic should be facing double that as the nature of their actions has done far more damage to the Scottish Football reputation than any club going into administration ever could....you can then add a fine to it for the disruption caused and the additional expense incurred as a result. If those running the game want to restore any kind of credibility to the game then it's time for them to grow a pair and show that they are as willing to take the same action against the OF teams as they would against anyone else.
  16. I understand that the online shop is undergoing final tweaking and testing, hopefully this means it will be launched very soon.

That seems to be the case at the moment.
  18. I never have been able to figure out where PWC get the figures they use as they rarely correlate directly with the figures on individual club accounts. ICT's own accounts show a turnover of around £3.4 Million for years ending 07 & 08 rising slightly to £3.5 Million for 09 and dropping significantly to just under £1.8 Million for 2010. It will be interesting to see if our return to the SPL at first time of asking will put turnover directly back in line with what it was previously, or if we suffer any kind of recovery period. Not much on ICT, but http://www.football-finances.org.uk/spl/index.htm will give you an idea of how other clubs stack up.

Looks like we're going to be faced with another snow filled winter. With 4 of our next 5 games at home the fate of our matches going ahead, in regards to the snow, is in our own hands more than normal and with that in mind the club are keen to compile a list of people willing/able to assist with clearing the pitch and stadium in order to prevent postponements. We will, of course, post on here the minute we hear about the need for people to clear snow, but it makes it easier to spread the word and let people know if we have some contact details, so if you are able to assist then you can either PM me your details or call the club on 01463 222880 and they will take your details from you there. Having just spoken to the club, the current situation is that the pitch is looking good under the snow which is preventing it from freezing (at the moment).
  20. "Hey, You Guys!"
  21. I think there's a bit more than that to it in this specific case. Hugh Dallas occupied a senior position within the SFA and the Protestant - Catholic divide is (unfortunately) a significant feature of football in Scotland. (I could go on to argue that it is extremely significant but won't digress here.) Furthermore the email was against the side of that divide subscribed to by many followers of the club which is claiming there is an institutional bias against it within the Scottish game. That severely aggravated the whole thing. Good post Charles , all that idiot Dallas did was fuel the fire of the paranoid Celts and help them justify their " they're all out to get us " conspiracy theories . Nobody "fans the flames" of football related sectarianism more than the Scottish Press/Media...and they get a lot of mileage from pandering to the conspiracy claims as well. In fact, I would go so far as to say that if the problem is as big as the media portrays (on both issues) then it is one which is largely of there making. They'll excuse themselves on the basis that they are merely reporting it as they see it, or come up with headlines such as "revealing Scotland's 'secret' shame" as if they are doing us all a favour by filling the papers with it. In reality, all they do is provide a platform which allows the disease to spread.
  22. I could do that, leave it with me.
  23. MissICT, I thought you were on to post a link to your latest video diary!!!
  24. Total reflex header by Munro, who would not have known whether it was going in or wide.
