  1. Hopefully the club appreciate the input fans have given for next years away strip and they allow us to do the same when it comes to changing the home strip. There's been a couple of threads this season where the fans seem to have shown a preference for stripes on the home top and despite everything I don't think it's fallen on deaf ears.
  2. An away fixture against one of the OF would be lucky to net us ?150,000 from share of tickets....probably nearer ?100,000. A home fixture against anyone is sweeties in comparison.....maybe around ?15,000. All depends on ticket prices, but I would hope they were kept at the ?15 mark. If Brewster had still been in charge I'd probably be praying for the pay day, but my confidence has been lifted the last couple of weeks and I don't care who we get as I'm back to believing that we are capable of beating anyone....OF included.
  3. Am I right in thinking the next round matches take place on the weekend of 7th March?

  5. I dunno.....I thought Celtic had a reasonable chance!!!
  6. Article Link I didn't think a final decision had been made about scrapping the reserve league, but it would seem that if it has/is to be scrapped then a lot of players could find themselves on on their ear. I fully expect to see a few faces departing ICT in the summer, partly because the lads who've just came in are on short deals, partly because we've got a larger squad than we realistically need and partly because Butcher will want to ship some players to take in a couple more of his own. Whilst it's never pleasant to see anyone losing their job I can't help feel that this could probably help the smaller teams in Scotland who'll be able to pick up some bargains during the summer. However, the flip side to that is that we are more than likely to see the "high earners" who might be let go moving to other countries and the levelling of the playing field could ultimately result in a poorer SPL overall...certainly in the short term....although it is very likely that it may well become a more competitive one. I think now, more than ever, the SPL should be looking at increasing the size of the league. With the new Setanta deal due to come online there's going to be a bit more money to go round and even if another 4 teams were brought in we'd all still be better off than at present. The extra teams might also allow us to keep more players in the game in this country. I also think it's about time the rest of the SPL got a bit tougher with the OF in terms of how cash is distributed. As I said already, the SPL is only going to get more competitive over the next few years. We're already seeing the gap between the OF and the rest being eroded season on season and I predict that within the next 5 years we'll see someone other than the OF take the league title. They are no longer the dominant force they might have been, and for that reason I don't think they should be allowed to dictate and bully others into accepting the scraps from the table. Whether you see the scrapping of the reserve league and the shortening of squads as a good or bad thing, it's very likely going to be the catalyst for a lot of change. I just hope the SPL/SFA have the wherewithall to be ready for that change and are prepared to make what will be some very tough decisions.

And when that does happen the same people will be on trying to pick an argument that everyone who turned up was a glory hunter.
  8. I think any adult who wears a football top should get an automatic one year ban.....5 years if they're fat.

From Zero to Hero in two shakes of TB's team selection pen....not bad for a guy who we'd likely have punted had Brewster remained in charge till the end of the window!!!
  11. I hope the highlights show it was a stone wall penalty.
  12. Snow's off here now, we'll get the lines cleared and everything will be fine.
  13. I wouldn't take much notice of the Sky Line-Up as they often get it totally wrong :thumb04:
  14. Wonder if Nessie will still have his Bloody Bandage on this week? Picture from last weeks CaleyJags.com Photo Gallery
  15. A slight aside to the point you were making, but we are actually quite proud of the fact that we are a "green" site and can lay claim to the fact that we're Carbon Neutral.

Birdog, if you want to keep politics out of it then perhaps you need to start taking things more at face value instead of reading more into it than is necessary. Such things only become a problem when someone turns it into one, and I am of the opinion that they are the ones who need to adjust their thinking and not everyone else.
  17. Put down the glass and step away from the bottle!!!
  18. Johnboy, why don't you ask the question in the Boardroom Banter? I have my own personal theory.... First, I don't think the club had any serious contenders in mind when they sacked Brewster....their "planned" option refused to wait any longer than he had and signed as a player for Falkirk. I think Butcher might have been looking to get back into club management and had been waiting for the right job to come along. I think he might have made half hearted enquiries about the position at ICT and then perhaps thought better of it (hence the backing down via the press). I then think that he saw the result against Hearts, watched the DVD and saw something in the lads which rekindled his interest and made him believe we had more to offer in terms of fight that he may have originally given us credit for. He strikes me as the kind of person who thrives on the type of challenge we were offering and is the kind of person who, if you tell him something can't be done, just gets all the more determined. That might all be fantasy, but it's the impression I get from things.
  19. I take no offence whatsoever and I'm actually of the opinion that clubs can benefit from having a presence on the social networks.....which we have already, I just don't think they should be trying to do anything "official" in the manner they are. What made me cringe when I saw the page was the fact that it looks like it's been thrown together by a 5 year old with a box of crayons and doesn't portray the professional image that the club should be showing (I have a similar opinion of the Official Website). I also wonder how they're going to manage the comments etc. One of the main reasons for CaleyThistleOnline.com going "unofficial" was that the club could not take the risk of things being said on the forums which they could be held accountable for. With a Bebo page people can leave whatever comments they like and it's tough to police....can you imagine what will happen the moment young fans (or otherwise) of other clubs get a sniff of an "Official ICT Bebo Page"....yup, it'll be open season!!! If they're looking for feedback then, as others have suggested, they could approach those who operate existing ICTFC Fan Social Networking pages and offer to work with them....as well as making use of this site here and the Official Site. I appreciate the idea as it shows an ability to think outside the box and that's a welcome sign of progress....not to mention it being some of the first signs of the club being willing to embrace the Internet. I also apologise if my comments upset the person who put the page together, that's not my intention, but I really do think that if the club are going to persist with this idea then they need to work on the skin to get it looking crisp and professional. I'll even put my money where my mouth is and offer to do a skin for them based on whatever design/look they are after.
  20. Maybe just maybe! he wanted to give his signings a chance to prove they could do better than a 41 year old, but deep down HE also knew they couldn't cut the mustard. WHAT THE FECK DO YOU THINK THAT WOULD HAVE DONE TO THEIR MORALE THEN IF HE HAD PULLED THE BOOTS ON AND THEN STATED PUBLICLY THEY WERE CR*P Give the man a break, FFS I hear you're fond of cheese sandwiches....can I get you one to go with the whine?
  21. Getting carried away is exactly what the fans need to be doing right now as it's that kind of energy from the stands that will drive the players on to achieve more than might be expected. Hope for the best and prepare for the worst.
