    Smeaton

Of course it's the media, and that's what I'm getting at.....but he doesn't strike me as having the wits about him to realise it could all turn against him just as quickly (CB beat me to that one).
  2. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/glasgo...est/7149007.stm Am I the only one who thinks this whole "Smeaton the Hero" thing has been taken too far and has become nothing more than publicity stunt after publicity stunt??? There's men and women who save lives every day that never get so much as a line in the local press, and here's a guy who runs in to take a cheap shot at a guy who was on fire being treated like he single handedly saved the nation.
  3. Something like that would involve a huge amount of time/effort to keep up to date. Links expire and change as newspapers move stuff in to archives etc and someone would need to work daily at keeping on top of it to remove/change links to keep them up to date. Copying articles across on a permanent basis means you start flirting with copyright issues, not to mention the server space required to store it all and the costs involved there. The function of having the articles pulled directly on to the forum for discussion would mean that links to articles of most interest would stay around longer as they are being discussed, and in practical terms this is probably the most realistic compromise. We're not averse to the idea of things that need a little work and effort, but we only have so many hours in the day and if users want such things then they need to volunteer some time to assist. We have the moderators who have taken over a lot of the stuff Scotty and I used to do on the forums to free up some of our time, which is great. Not everyone is positioned to give time, and we understand that, but if we could get even a handful of the other 1200 site members involved in writing match reports and stuff then that would be a great help, not only in easing the burden on us, but in moving the site towards becoming more community orientated. It annoys me on occasion that we can't get volunteers on here to write a match report as nobody seems to have the time, but I can then log on to the likes of Pie and Bovril and find that users from here have written a full page report on their feedback for the match over there within a couple of hours of the final whistle. The door's always open for users that want to contribute more to the operation of the site, all they need to do is drop us a PM or E.Mail. Not just writing stories or articles, but we always have things on the go that we could do with a hand on and things like our stats section are in need of constant update and entry of previous season information to bring us up to date.
  4. Some wise words from the wee fella in the Daily Record - Clicky Clicky
  5. I thought this was going to be a dig at the fat bloke in the stand on the front page of the P&J.
  6. INCOMINGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :hiding03:
  7. You got some weird looking xmas trees where you come from!!!!
  8. I had ICT friendly filter fitted to my TV and it leaves you in no doubt as to the situation :023: [attach=1] offside.jpg_thumb
  9. I think this is one of the stadiums with the best atmosphere in Scotland, just a pity that you have to be a dwarf to fit in the seats, which means I won't be going.
  10. In fairness I think most of that is fair comment from the first half and even Brewster acknowledged that up until we got the goal back it was looking bleak. I lost count of the number of times I shouted at McBain and Hastings to stop getting drawn so far in to the middle and for us to go to the man instead of letting them run at us and even towards the end Rossco and Munro were on at the rest of the team to push out a bit and pin down Celtic further up the park.
  11. They say a picture is worth a thousand words.....and if you take a look at the photo on the Scotsman article (Clicky Clicky) it just makes you wonder all the more as to how Fraser managed to keep that ball out.
  12. If you mean the seats in the background of the Proctor picture then that was the new unroofed enclosure they built which was intended for the singing section. Nobody was sitting there at all, and I can only assume that it wasn't made available as their was still the odd empty seat in the North and Main stands. We were slightly short of capacity crowd today.
  13. Nice bit if spin there RiG.....What was being said was that the disrespect he was showing the club and badge was out of order and it didn't matter how good he was it should not be tolerated, I don't thing many (if any) ever doubted his talent as a player.
  14. I've just commented on another thread saying pretty much the same as has been said in this post. Proctor took one for the team today and can continue to hold his head high.
  15. I have to say that when the ref reached for his pocket at the Proctor incident I thought it was McDonald being booked for the dive, but that was me seeing it from the other end of the ground. On the replay their was definite contact and enough to warrant the foul....regardless of the Pressley sham, the right decision was that Proctor had to walk. I would have expected any of our players to have attempted the challenge in that situation and at least he had the presence of mind to get the challenge in outside the area. I guess it' was what you would call a "professional" foul and as tough as it is on the lad his actions played an important part in securing us 3 points today.....nothing at all for him to be ashamed of.
  16. Were you back from offshore to witness the last few performances birdog? If not you'll have missed not only the turn around in results but the reactions of the man himself....as has been said by others, I think he regrets the move to DU (he has said so himself) and I don't think he's in a rush to be off anywhere else anytime soon.
  17. First set of Match Pics just in from Gordon Gillespie (NorthSport) - Clicky Clicky - and it's a bumper gallery this week with 22 great pics. Someone mentioned somewhere about Black turning the Celtic Midfield inside out and I think the moment has been captured in picture #9
  18. Eh?
  19. I'd rather they turn up for the big games than never turn up at all.
  20. ...is "Wonderful"
  21. The only one who might have slight chance of going anywhere in the transfer window is Black, and even then I couldn't see us letting him go for much less than ?300k...which I don't think is far off the mark in terms of the additional revenue a top 6 finish could bring.
  22. I can't work out which is sorest, my hands from clapping or my butt cheeks from them being clenched so hard for the last 15 minutes.
  23. Mee...you do realise that ICT get a cut of the revenue from Setanta and that income will contribute to Mike Smiths wages :010:
  24. Do I detect a hint of Jealousy? :015:
  25. Ian Black....Tallest midget in the SPL :021:
