  1. That'll be the end of this thread then, for this season anyway!
  2. Brora finished on 123 goals, missing out on Inverness Thistle's record by a single goal.
  3. It's Turriff, when it comes to that!
  4. But I'm sure any punches thrown for really meant For Martin.
  5. The Inverness Thistle record remains intact! 124 goals in a Highland League season. Brora are on 121 with one game to play - home to Inverurie Loco Works this weekend!
  6. ICTRoughi - you correctly state: "I know it's been disappointing to concede 11 goals in 2 games vs Celtic but I think you need to be a bit realistic here. We were playing against the best team in Scotland on their own turf and they are capable of doing it to many other teams." Yet, a few days prior, ahead of our trip to Celtic, you thought very differently - and let's be honest, unrealistically and, if I may dare say, naively, predicting.... "I firmly believe if we play attacking minded football we could score a fair few." It's ironic that you forecast one preposterous outcome, then try to defend the inevitable by calling for some 'realism'. I wish I had the optimism you have, albeit, misplaced. I would certainly be a much less frustrated fan living in your world of sheer fantasy!
  7. Not going to 'pick through' every individual argument but wish to clarify a couple of erroneous points. Butcher has won in Dingwall, twice, in two attempts with Hibs. League and cup, both with clean-sheets. We need 6 points (not just 2) to get our record points tally. We're on 53 with the record being 58.
  8. "cherry pick" Brilliant! Including a pun in a response to a thorny issue!
  9. Hasn't been mentioned yet, so thought I'd congratulate Inverness City on reaching the North Superleague for the first time. Although their results don't exactly put me 'up' or 'down', It'll be interesting to see how they measure up to playing the established Aberdeen teams like Culter, Banks O'Dee on a regular basis.
  10. Although we obviously couldn't have known it at the time, when Hughes came in, we were only 7 points from securing a top 6 spot.
  11. It's a good question, culduthel. I'm interested to see what replies you get from the more regular posters on this thread. I heard that the exclusion of the expat vote (around one million) is likely to be challenged in 'the courts'. It would appear to me that the vote is for the-people-of-Scotland (those persons domiciled in Scotland, regardless of nationality) rather than for Scottish people, per se., if that makes sense.
  12. It was +10
  13. I replied to this on the 'matchday thread' in reply to Kingsmill's initial observation. Very poor and makes us look quite amateurish. It would appear that the released players are out of the equation and have played their last games for Inverness. I know only 3 subs can be played during a game, but he (Hughes) at least give himself options - or at least give the youngsters the opportunity to sample the match-day experience. It seems he's only picked a squad of players that he feels he could play any part at all in the game - which is worrying. Basically, Hughes has effectively shown that, of the available players he had today, he only rates 15 players as capable of wearing the shirt. That's surely the only logical conclusion to take.
  14. Update. Penalties taken for ICT. (Last: Aaron Doran (missed) v. Celtic 27th April 2014) Ross Draper (100%) Y Y James Vincent (100%) Y Nick Ross (80%) Y Y X Y Y Aaron Doran (75%) Y Y Y X Billy McKay (67%) Y Y Y Y Y Y Y X X X Y X Greg Tansey (67%) Y Y X Graeme Shinnie (60%) Y Y X Y X Richie Foran (33%) X Y X
  15. BBC website still referring to Brill as our 'on-loan Luton 'keeper' - jeez!
  16. That ship has long since sailed! We'd need a win today for sure - and that won't happen now we're behind! I think I'm correct in saying that we've not come back from behind to win since 2011 in that epic Kilmarnock 3-6 Inverness CT game!! But I know you were being facetious! Well done with Chorley, by the way!
  17. I totally agree, Kingsmills. It's actually a little embarrassing, particularly at Parkhead. It's the sort of thing you'd occasionally see in an amateur game when a team can't fill the bench due to work commitments! It seems that fraser's post today (on the 'Contract Situation' thread) is correct, regarding the club releasing Matt Cooper, Conor Pepper and Adam Evans. Any, or all 3 of them would surely, otherwise, have been on the bench.
  18. Adam Evans!? That's very surprising...thought he was likely to make a real breakthrough next season after flirting with the first team and showing up impressively in the 'reserves'. We've got few attacking players at the club without releasing one with promise. A couple of strikers are needed in the summer! Also disappointed that Cooper and Pepper going - but not too shocked at that decision.
  19. I've managed to find the table for that season and you're correct OCG! As it happens, Thistle didn't 'even' win the league that season. The table below has missed out the points column (or rather, I somehow have!) but the goals-for-and-against indeed demonstrate that there were 'fodder' teams then with Buckie being the 'Fort William' of the time. Oh well, that'll teach me to research before posting - I just read the Inverness Thistle stat on that website and couldn't get on here quick enough to 'flag it up', cunningly disguised in the Brora thread! I go in peace...or should that be in pieces..?...
  20. Tokely and Morrison last played in 2012 but granted, I'll give you Munro (no pun intended) - I overlooked that he played a few games for County at the start of this season! Actually, I've revisited this thread to highlight that Brora are on course to score the most goals ever in a Highland League season. They currently sit on 120 with two games remaining. They've got Turriff United (away) and Inveruruie Loco Works (home) to play. The current record stands at 124, achieved by the great Inverness Thistle side in their championship winning 1970 season. I doubt Thistle had the advantage of playing 34 fixtures that season and there wouldn't have been (with due respect) 'fodder' like Rothes, Fort William and Strathspey back in the day! Hope I'm allowed to cite another forum....source: http://www.fitbanorth.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=4636
  21. I was merely demonstrating the futility of using win percentage as a guide to managers perceived ‘success’ at a club. I agree there are too many variables to consider for it to be a fair reflection. (era, strength of opposition in a given division, length of tenure etc.) I was also hinting that while many may naturally indulge in schadenfreude at Butcher’s difficulties, ‘those in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones’. If some assume Terry’s jacket is on a shoogly peg then the same should be considered for Hughes. I don’t buy the ‘Hughes has barely got his feet under the table’ rhetoric without affording the same objectivity towards Butcher. They both assumed the mantle at their new clubs within a few weeks of each other and both have broadly similar statistical records but neither has covered themselves in glory, to date. We’ve won 1 league game (against Partick Thistle) in the 10 matches at home since John came in. That statistic is damning enough without including the cup tie against Dundee United which saw Hughes preside over the worst home reverse in the clubs entire history…we really are in no position to gloat.
  22. I see it's gone right to the wire with just one game remaining! Chorley have a 1 point lead over FC United in the race for the title and both are away this weekend for the deciders.
  23. I'm sure fans of all clubs worry what's coming for their next strip! Using St Mirren as an example, even though they're black and white stripes with black shorts, they've not been immune to the tweaking of tradition! Even the number of stripes gets altered on a regular basis and the colour of shorts seems to alternate from black to white. They even had a half-and-half shirt as recently as 1995 - I'm sure that would've split the fans' opinions! http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Scottish_Football_League/St_Mirren/St_Mirren.htm
  24. By that criterion (win %), John Hughes is our worst ever manager! Baltacha previously managed 33% just below Brewster's 34%...but Hughes is on just 27%, dropping to 26% if we lose at Celtic Park.
  25. Must surely have broken into the top 100 after that.
