Rangers go into administration
In fairness, I should (reluctantly) acknowledge my misinterpretation of 'hotel-gate'. Have just been reading about it and it appears they didn't stay overnight as I 'accused' them of doing. They arrived at the hotel for lunch and had rooms booked to rest in before heading to Forfar. But it's still inexcusable!!

Rangers go into administration
Didn't realise that and I cannot believe it! They were staying overnight for a game against FORFAR?! With an EVENING kick-off. An absolute joke. Even if they'd been playing up at Wick, they could leave at 12 noon by coach and get there effortlessly 2 hours before kick-off if they desired. Actually, they'd probably indulge themselves and fly to that!

Who will Butcher try to get from ICT in Jan
The original poster claims Hibs are "by far the biggest club" Terry's managed. I'm sure the 40,000+ Sunderland fans that attend home games would disagree!

First Team Players, Who Never Played
Steven Watt. Also, only 28 his potential was never realised due o injuries. Picked by Jose Mourinho for the Chelsea first-team for an FA Cup tie (where, reports suggest he was man-of-the-match) his career stalled and is now playing non-league in England. Had a spell with us but I don't recall him playing.

Who will Butcher try to get from ICT in Jan
Hibs are much improved since Terry and Mo went there. Acknowledging that isn't a crime.

Paul Hartley
I don't think it's cowardly, CELTIC1CALEY3. He's effectively being the opposite of a coward by leaving a 'safe job'. Any of the Alloa players would jump at the chance of playing at a higher level. They won't think anything negative about their boss moving on, because they would do the same, if the opportunity arose. It's the same for us all in employment. Loyalty to our current employer dissipates when a better offer comes in. I don't, for one minute, believe Hartley has resigned because he doesn't feel he's up to the job. He's got an offer in the pipeline!

Paul Hartley
I suspect, rather than being a 'looser' (sic), he's quit in advance of a bigger job on the horizon.

Best Season Ever!
Hey, steady on, Westhill1. I agree with your post apart from the 'almost guaranteed' a place in the last eight'! Surely a bit presumptive?! It's a classic banana-skin cup tie. It'll be a tough game down there against a team with nothing to lose and who are in good form. They've scored in their last 24 games including a recent draw at Ibrox. They also took 3 off Hibs at Easter Road earlier this season, so they know the way to goal.

Aberdeen V Inverness C.T.
Not sure if that's necessarily correct as Devine is around the same height as Warren ,while Tremarco adds more height than Shinnie!

put up or shut up for Billy Mackay
Well, Billy is the leading all-time scorer in the North derby, with 6 goals in 8 games...obviously likes playing against the Dons!

Transfer Window
Incredible to look how the careers of both ex-Hibs wonder-kids Derek Riordan and Garry O'Connor have panned out. Two talented players in their youth, recognised by the Scotland national team but ultimately underperformed to the extent that when they should be at the peak of their careers they're scrambling about looking at clubs like bottom of the Championship table Morton - at best, if anything at all. Too much money and adulation at a young age with more front-page headlines for assaults and drugs than back-page football achievements. Sad.

The assistant manager thread
You don't half stumble across some amazing stuff on the internet, Yngwie! Interesting article that. Surprised the salary for managing the national team of Trinidad & Tobago pays so much. At the monthly salary quoted, it equates to an equivalent annual salary of £246,000.

Strengthen during transfer window?
We used to have a player of that name (John Scott) back in the 90's!
-
Ex ICT Players Score
English League One Filipe Morais (penalty) (Stevenage 2-0 Swindon Town) Northern Irish Premiership Curtis Allen (Glenavon 2-3 Glentoran)

James Vincent
He played 9 games for us and we were top of the league from games 1 to 9. Since his injury, we've dropped to mid-table. Coincidence?
-
Greg Tansey
He scored the only penalty he took for us! I'll update the 'penalty-kick takers?' thread appropriately if he signs! He'd currently be up-there on 100%, alongside Doran (2/2), Vincent (1/1) and Draper (1/1).

Team for Aberdeen (A)
With due respect, this business of football matches being used as outlets for grief, appreciation or whatever is getting a bit ridiculous. And the 'minutes played significance' is ridiculous. Sorry if I sound callous but it's a football match. There are other ways of showing respect such as attending the funeral. The tragic deaths recently of youth players is different and I can understand Remembrance Day as a time to stop, respect and wonder what may have been, but that was for hundreds-of-thousands of men and women giving their lives to secure the future of our country. However, the passing of an individual fan is obviously a sad time for those who know him - but should not necessarily be acknowledged by a round-of-applause - particularly at the minute signifying his age. Mikey Diamond got no recognition in this respect nor would he have expected or wanted it. I think the club got it right by not commemorating his passing in this manner because once the precedent is set, where do you draw the line?

Strengthen during transfer window?
Sounds like another Curtis Allen!

James Vincent
It would be blow to lose James Vincent - especially to Hibs! He was an ever-present, integral part of our spectacular start to the season. Perhaps the Terry Butcher interest is behind our apparent move for Greg Tansey? I'd be surprised if we 'escaped' the winter transfer-window unscathed...but that's us midway through January and all is still intact - and Billy's still ours!
