  1. Said something like not tomorrow but maybe 1 or 2 free agents next week! Strikers currently available as free agents include Nacho Novo, Torbjorn Agdestein, Graham Bayne and Mo Bangura. Take your pick. I wonder if Barry Wilson's interested in re-uniting with Graham Bayne and taking him to Elgin? When Bayne was last a free-agent, Barry managed to persuade him to play a few games for Wick Academy, so there may be a chance!

I'm sure club-captain and fellow-countyman, Richie Foran will have a quiet word in his ear! Players are warned to be careful what they put on 'social media' but you'd think, by now, that people would know not to write anything derogatory about their employer on Facebook or Twitter! I'd put it down to naivety and move on...
  3. I'd been apprehensive of the looming mid-season window fearing the loss of one or more key players like McKay, Vincent or Draper. But it looks like we'll be 'unscathed' - big boost ahead of Sunday. (Mind you, the final day's often when there's most transfer activity!)
  4. It's a bit harsh to say we've bottled our 4 previous attempts to reach a major final. (Although a National competition, the Challenge Cup is not classed as a 'major') Our Scottish Cup semi finals were, at the time, against teams from a higher league. Big spending, top 6, administration bound, Dundee. We were unlucky and deserved a replay... Dunfermline were a top 6 SPL team and although I wasn't at Pittodrie for the replay, was at Hampden and I really thought we were the better team and were going to 'hold on' for a famous win! I'm still working out an 'excuse' for the Hearts game last year! Okay, I'll give you that one! It was certainly there for the taking. We bottled it!
  5. You'd mentioned him a few times, eh. I didn't realise Aberdeen would be willing to loan him to a rival club. Yeah, times running out to get another striker in - if that was the plan. I wonder how active we've been behind the scenes? Yogi's maybe happy with the squad we've got, which is fair enough, provided we don't lose anybody before tomorrow night!
  6. Reminds me of the days of being surrounded in the toilets at school by the big boys and they'd quiz on who you supported, with the 'prize' for a wrong answer being a beating. "Rangers or Celtic?", "Blur or Oasis?", " Famous Five or Secret Seven?"
  7. His 'really good goal' against Killie counts the same as one going in off his backside from 2 yards! To be fair to Tade, he played one season with us and ended it as our top scorer.
  8. That's lovely, thank you. I'll be round in 6 months time after the Edinburgh stag night I'm attending. When the pebble hits your window at 3.30am, open your curtains. They guy outside wearing a traffic cone will be me. Super offer. Two sugars, please, thank you.

Yngwie made a point following the U20 game today (on that thread). It's likely todays young team indicates Yogi's thinking for Sunday. Todays team may likely have been played to 'save' the other guys for Sunday. With only 16 players allowed to be listed, it's a good dilemma but a hard choice for Hughes. But this is where his man-management skills will be key. I can guarantee there will be guys who harboured ambition of playing in the starting 11 who find themselves left out of the match-day squad entirely! Over to you Yogi!
  10. He's a terrific player, I agree.

From Twitter.... Final score: Partick Thistle 4-2 Inverness Caley Thistle. But the result is academic, and I'd say the same even if we'd won 4-2. Greenhalgh got the 2nd near the end when we were 4-1 behind. Two goals for him today - he's starting to look the part and this will do wonders for his confidence. I hope he's on the bench on Sunday.

Very youthful team fielded today. Cammy Mackay Connor Pepper Joe Gorman Daniel Devine Calum Howarth Jason Brown Ali Sutherland Ryan Christie Ben Greenhalgh Adam Evans Calum Ferguson

Half-time was 1-1. We equalised from a Ben Greenhalgh free kick.
  14. Good move for Barry. I always felt he would 'end up' there at some point. He's done well with Wick Academy in the Highland League. He also knows Elgin City well having spent some time there under Ross Jack. Also a shrewd acquisition for Elgin with Barry having a high local profile and plenty of contacts. Difficult job though. It's maybe too early to write-off Elgin's season but they'll be looking to push for play-offs next year I'm sure.
  15. phone 01463 220880 and theyll be able to help you. 01463 222880 would be even more helpful! (typo from old caley girl)
  16. I may be completely wrong but it's a hunch!
  17. I noticed a bit of hostility towards him during the prolonged new manager debates. He hasn't even been on the Forum since 7th December. He still posts stuff on his YouTube channel but not on here, so I think he's had enough!
  18. I hope they go for Ngoo. Would be hilarious when they rush through the paperwork - only to find he's got an immediate one game Scottish League Cup ban in the event of him ever re-signing with a Scottish club! I'm sure they're aware of that, but you never know!
  19. First time I've checked the odds for this game. We're overwhelming favourites! Hearts are as much as 9/2 to win (90 mins) and we're as low as 8/15. According to Oddschecker, currently more money's going on Hearts!
  20. That would have been ideal for HeScoresWhenHeWants! But, I fear he's been lost to this forum. He's gone from being a prolific poster to turning his back on it - possibly through 'bullying'. The lad was only 13 or 14 and got a hard-time for voicing his support of Paul Hartley over Hughes. It's no coincidence his last post was 4th December, the very day Hughes was appointed. Let's just hope he's not been lost to the Football Club as well.
  21. That's the very one! Was at that game too. Ah, the great days of standing at football! Good point from Mantis re. Partick being 2 divisions below us when they knocked us out of the Scottish Cup - we should be well warned ahead of Stranraer!

Good line-up. But teams only get 5 subs in the League Cup.
  23. Crikey! I forgot about the Queen's Park game! I was at it! Was standing on the 'West' terrace, as it was, and remember watching in horror as a long ball deceived Mark Brown and bounced over his head and into the net. And yeah, Bobby Mann smacked that penalty off the post near the end! No wonder it escaped me! But amazing to think we went on to get promoted to the SPL later that year!
  24. We have prided ourselves as giant-killers through the years on our journey to the top-flight. The Celtic wins were obviously the most prominent, but there were many more. But....have we ever been on the other-side-of-the-coin and humbled by a lesser team? I think we've done well to not suffer any humiliating defeats to lesser opposition! Although it doesn't sound so bad now (particularly with our results this season), the only one that springs to mind is the Partick Thistle game a few years ago when they knocked us out on penalties - they were a league lower than us at the time. Can't think of any others without researching. And, yes, it was the looming Stranraer game that got me wondering!
