  1. Many people have said that this could denigrate our team spirit. However, I wonder if this is the case. What sort of team spirit do the players have if they are going to let wage differences affect their performances? You would expect that from prima donnas and football brats (your Anelka's, Berkovic', Van Hoojidonks) but surely our players should be able to put this to one side? I have been in the situation where I have earned more money than colleagues who were better at their jobs than me and who were more expeirenced, and I have also been in the situation where I have earned less than just about everyone I have worked with - mature people just get on with things. Hopefully this guy isn't your stereotypical crazy foreigner though. As long as we aren't mortgaging our future on this guy, and from the sounds of it we aren't, I think this is an excellent signing.
  2. Could Charlie be preparing to throw a few of our young players into the first team frame next season? So far in the pre-season games we've seen Guy Kerr, Garry Wood, Zander Sutherland, Ally MacDonald and Rory McAllister given run outs. I read in the paper that the young players did well, perhaps Charlie will take a chance on them rather than bringing in more experienced players. Certainly, Wood, who has been on trial at Sunderland, and Guy Ker, who has played for Scotland U16s, both have good pedigree and we all saw in the St Mirren game that Sutherland can play. Could be an interesting move.
  3. Confirmed as a hoax, the Elgin board said that he didnt' want to communicate other than through email and wouldn't meet soliciters. I have to say I, for one, am hugely shocked that anyone operating in the security and escort industry would display anything other than the highest ethical standards in their business dealings. :014:
  4. According to Alastair Fraser's report in the Sunday Mail Guy Kerr did well in central defence.
  5. Did we not beat some team 20-0 last preseason? I like how McDonald scored a header :015: Who is A. MacDonald btw?
  6. He looks a good player but he was released from his last club when they were relegated and while he played at Sporting he doesn't seem to have been a first choice (60 odd games in four seasons). He does have a good record internationally and in romania, right enough though. Hopefully he is looking for a fresh start to his career, possibly putting himself in the British shop window.
  7. I hope you stood on the nearest bench and shouted "DEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAANNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOO"
  8. Why dont' we try and strike up a special relationship with them, no doubt we'll get shitloads of great players out of it.
  9. Aye, I think worrying about the lads difficult second season is getting a bit ahead of ourselves :015:
  10. Police investigating the London car bombs traced phone calls to the bombers house in Houston and at the very moments the attack on Glasgow airport were attempting to search houses, it's clear it was part of a calculated plot rather than anyone acting on instinct. Often inexperienced terrorists make mistakes when bombing targets - the IRA used tolose members quite regularly in the early days of it's campaign when bombs blew up prematurely, this tailed off as they became more hardened and competent with the use of explosives.
  11. He's five foot four! Scoring for Ipswich
  12. Good move for him, hope he does well. he deserves to be in the Scotland side ahead of that useless fanny Pressley.
  13. Is there any chance we could just sign a player and THEN announce it to the press?

    New Players

Where have these names come from?
  15. I'm pretty sure that we've had a black youth player, I seem to remember ymip posting about him on here? Guylain Ndumbu-Nsungu has played for a few clubs in his career and is a Congo U21 internationalist. Delroy Facey just signed for Gillingham. That Cumbers guy has only played one game for Gillingham.
  16. Generally we have relied on three strikers with one back up for the last few seasons. Last season it was Bayne, Dargo and Wyness with Rory as back up, season before Wyness, Brewster and Dargo played most games against with McAllister as back up.
  17. I don't think he needs to sign at least two strikers, we need one striker. We don't need a winger either. I agree with you that we need a defender. I think we were lucky last season to get through with basically five defenders in the squad.
  18. You don't like any players we are linked to! :015: We'd be better signing Angus Young.
  19. Footballers are wimps nowadays. It used to be that young Scottish laddies would finish work in the pit, cycle to a four hour training session involving nothing but running up and down 5,000 step terraces and playing head tennis with a medicine ball. If they were spotted by a cloth-capped scout, they'd move to some far off English second division side, for a half crown per week with no complaints whatsoever. Now they all have streaked dyed hairdo's and if they aren't filming roasting sessions on their new fangled 'mobiles' they are moaning about being away from their mum and dad. Scotsmen travelled the globe during the halycon days of the Empire, shaping the globe (and killing anyone who didn't want to be shaped) now our young men get to snivelling if they have to spend a couple of weeks in digs in Blackburn.
  20. Derek Young is absolutely shyte.
  21. Andy Kirk?
  22. Another target missed?
  23. the management team obviously didn't think he was good enough for an immediate bid and wanted a further look. I'd rather we didn't dive into signing players prematurely. Oh and Ian Stewart scored 16 goals in 25 starts in our first season in the Second Division and was injured during our second season there.
  24. Tam McManus has a pretty poor scoring record over the last few seasons. He scored six goals for Dundee in the First Division in 05/06 and scored twice last season in his games for the Pars and Falkirk. I had always thought of him as, well, ***** but apparently he really did well for Dunfermline when he got a chance. Perhaps he has realised that he is 26 and needs to try and make something of his career. When we signed Dargo he hadn't scored many for a fewq seasons. Jim McIntyre is 35, injury-prone, would cost a tansfer fee and is similar to what we already have. No thanks!
  25. Hero - Graham Bayne, a fantastic season for him. His performance against Celtic in the cup was one of the best displays from a lone front man you'll ever see. Villian - Mike Smith Could do better - Ian Black. Hasn't been up to earlier standards this season and is now picking upbookings for dissent and stupid gestures rather than meaty tackles. Needs to knuckle down to fulfill his potential. Must do better - Not a criticsm of him, but Stuart McCaffrey will have big boots to step into should he come in for Dods next term - he'll have to be at his best. Hopefully Rory builds on a few decent performances towards the end of the season and pushes on next season. He is still a young player and hopefully this experience will do him good. If Zander Sutherland can regularly play tot he standard he showed against St Mirren, he'll make an impact too.
