  9. Presumably with USSR to are alluding to Baltacha. The stadium wasn't built until after he was gone. Wouldn't have thought there'd been any since. Fetai is now Macedonian due to his international appearances. He was classed as Danish at the time though. Markus Paatelainen - Finnish
  10. As some of you may remember, a while back we had a similar thread on how many nationalities had turned out in ICT colours, well here's a similar thing. How many nationalities have played at the Caledonian Stadium since it was built? I suppose we could count friendlies and international games as well, to get the number up. It would be interesting to see as well, what range of nationalities there has been over the last sixteen years, as well as countries that haven't featured anyone yet and foriegn one-offs. Go one name at a time as well. It's more fun that way! I'll start us off - Ross Tokely - Scottish
  11. Personally I think the whole "Caley" home kit/"Thistle" away kit, sounds like a dreadful idea, unless all homes featured said top and all away games featured the other top. And anyway, why Caley at home? Why not Thistle at home? Sounds like the old Caley bias still exists to me to some degree if that were to come about. The anniversary of ICT, should be about ICT. While we must acknowledge that the club came from a merger of two others, we have one club now and that's what it should all be about.
  12. Esson Tokely Williams Gillet G.Shinnie Tansey Jones Foran Tade McKay Hayes Subs - Tuffey, Ross, Sutherland, Meekings, Piermayr, Gnakpa, Winnall A controversial change at full back perhaps, but I think Tokely is still the best right-back at the club albeit a slower version of what he once was. His distribution is better than Meekings' I reckon as well. Jones comes back into the centre, with Tade and McKay coming back up front to partner Hayes in a 4-3-3. While Ross scored last week, he is often crowded out in games involving the Old Firm and thus less effective. No Proctor on the bench by the way, for obvious reasons..... This Rangers team is there for the taking I reckon. I'm confident of a win.
  13. I'd like to believe that....
  14. I think the fact that Butcher's gone with Proctor instead of Tokely, makes my statement that this is his last season here more and more likely. Maybe one day young Terrence will realise that Proctor is rubbish and should of been punted years ago!
  15. Hogg, Williams, Golobart and Andrew Shinnie are definitely out. Doran should be back but still don't know about McKay. Esson Piermayr Tokely Gillet G.Shinnie Hayes Tansey Jones Foran Tade Sutherland Subs - Tuffey, Winnall, Ross, Meekings, Doran, Gnakpa, Morrison The best way to score goals, is to play with strikers! So a bit of a re-jig for me.

There already is a Caley Thistle version of Caledonia (or Caley Thistledonia as maybe it should be called). It was on here a while ago actually (unless that was actually in one of many nightly Caley Thistle related dreams - I had one once where McCaffery and Juanjo re-signed, Caff played as number 10 and Juanjo was the number 5. The obscure reasoning for these numbers was never really revealed...) The main chorus went something like - Let not she become a stranger, cause that would make me more than sad Caley Thistle - the best we ever had
  17. Would he go if he was offered it? Absolutely. Will he be considered for it? No. Will he be offered it? Never.
  18. I have no qualms about that result whatsoever. ICT were poor and never got going at all. They weren't even beaten by the better team, just one that wasn't as bad. The game could be still going on right now and the score still begin with "Inverness nil". There was no bite on that team at all, with nobody who really looks like they are capable of scoring goals - but then what do expect of a front four that contains three wingers and a left full back? The selection itself was odd - where was Shinnie meant to be playing? He seemed to switch from sitting behind the striker, to left wing to full back. Why wasn't Gillet at centre back to cover Tokely with Shinnie at full back, with either Sutherland or Gnakpa playing out wide? Surely that would've made a lot more sense. I'm also of the opinion that Tokely plays best at centre back when he has someone alongside him who can act almost as a sweeper. Gillet would've been perfect for that role today. And what's the deal with Meekings? Couldn't cross, pass or distribute the ball to save himself. Why was Piermayr ever dropped? And why wasn't Sutherland on from the start? And where's Billy McKay? He was playing well up until a few weeks ago. Never see him now. And I have to agree with those who mention the keeper issue. Esson is a better keeper than Tuffey - FACT, the latter of which at times seems to have an air of Michael Fraser about him - and I don't mean that in a complimentary way. I can understand giving Tuffey a chance in the cup when the game is against someone like Auchenleck Talbot or the Tain Thistle reserve squad, but not against Celtic. With the makeshift defence that ICT had to persevere with (any defence that includes Proctor is a makeshift defence by the way), surely the one thing you get right is the keeper. Which leads us onto another issue - David Proctor. He's an absolute donkey and has been for years. How he continually gets a game is beyond me and it doesn't seem to matter who the manager is, he's seems to get a game no-matter what. Plus marks today for Gillet and Ross. I thought they played well. But things must improve - and heart is the most important one of all.
  19. Ah, I'll just carry on this thread! Bit a change I think is desperately needed - Esson Piermayr Tokely Willams Gillet Hayes Ross Tansey Foran Tade Sutherland Subs - Tuffey, Meekings, G.Shinnie, Gnakpa, McKay, Jones/Doran, Winnall
  20. I wonder if the Celtic fans will have another banner display today....
  21. I'm sure all of us remember that in the past, Celtic have scored a fair amount of late winning goals at the Caley Park. Does anyone else reckon that if ICT can, for this game they shoot towards the North Stand in the first half (as they have done previously this season), thus diminishing the support Celtic would get towards the end and also making the chances of them scoring late, particularly from set pieces less likely? I think it's worth doing tomorrow. Discuss
  22. http://www.historica...ss_Thistle.html This'll probably give you the best answer. Interesting to note, that Thistle played in a blue and white striped number in the early days, followed a very current ICT-esque blue and red top. Also note that Thistle's first kit was a white and brown striped composition. I'm sure one or two on this site will remember these kits in action! I see as well that some of the early Caledonian kits included a belt!
  23. If Williams is out, I'd rather see Gillet moved back into centre-back than Proctor with Graeme Shinnie coming back in on the left.
  24. Because it's Celtic perhaps! Just because of the defences previous performances against lower clubs, doesn't mean it'll happen this time. I don't know about you, but I don't think Proctor going up against Hooper and Stokes is can be bared thinking about!
