ICT -V- Airdrie Utd : matchday thread
Okay you've highlighted part of my post and put a smiley next to it and bolded up part of someone elses. Care to say why? You're not another one of those Butcher-is-amazing-and-the-greatest-thing-since-Jesus-and-anyone-who-disagrees-is-a-Nazi-loving-idiot sort of person are you?

Arsenal keeper (a few years ago)
According to here, he was called Vito Mannone. ICT were quite keen for him but Wenger refused due to the fact he wouldn't be guaranteed first team football ever week (Fraser had just become first choice at that time). The deal fell through so ICT went for then Clach and former ICT sub keeper Ally Ridgers.

Pele's New Book
I haven't read it all the through yet, but I'm enjoying it. Very easy to read, and if anyone ever read Midge Ure's book, it's written in a similar style to that. One thing I have learned about Pele that I didn't know before is that I had no idea he was so religious.

Next Scotland manager
Of that lot I'd say: As you can see, there's no-one on that list who really stands out as an out and out good choice.

merged: Burley is sacked....Official!
Levein would be an absolute fool to leave Dundee United for the Scotland job just now,

Pele's New Book
Some of the best ICT signings were signed by Robbo in the pre-season before the start of ICT's first SPL season. Ian Black, Juanjo, Darren Dods, Graham Bayne to name but a few.

Have a look at the Scotland 1990s teams under Brown and compare that to the teams from the years of Vogts to the present day. One lot is far superior to the other.

Another sacking for Butcher's record. That's five for him now!

Gatheussi
Yes, two per game I believe. In the first home game of the season, Ayr had Robbie Winters as a trialist playing for them.

Gatheussi
They were called Clermont or something.

Interesting...
To me this says it all. In 20 years time, can you see John Terry or someone along those lines as manager of a wee team like this? The fact that Butcher is such a high profile football figure, and is managing a small team like this, says a lot about his management skills IMO.

Interesting...
What about me? I was doing quite well on my Football Manager demo, playing an attacking diamond midfielded 4-4-2.

New Zealand vs. Bahrain
I wasn't there, I had to witness another world class display by ICT at Fortress Tulloch. Plus that and the fact that I've never been to a rugby match in my life.

Don't worry, I doubt you'll have to wait long. And I was just looking up Butcher's record at Brentford - 22%. Oh dear...

I thought Alan Morgan was quite good actually.

Am I not right in saying though, that both the first half of last season and the season before, many people were upset due to the poor defending, Richard Hastings was puting in in that area?

New Zealand vs. Bahrain
Oops, I managed to erase from my mind Berti leading us to a famous 1-1 draw v NZ at Tynecastle in 2003. Scotland team included Brian Kerr and other superstars like Paul Devlin, Maurice Ross and Andy Gray. Given Scotland's performance last night and New Zealand's I think NZ are far the better side nowadays. If they played each other now I think NZ would run out winners by two or three goals. In fact looking at the standard of the Scottish football team I think they would struggle to qualify from the Oceania Region if they did play down here. I think Fiji, New Caledonia and Vanuatu would draw with Scotland comfortably and maybe even beat them. I think Scottish International football died a death last night. The death of interest from the vast majority of Scots. Maybe it's time to start looking to them for players.

Maybe if you actually take in to context what I said and they way I said it. I was saying that Butcher has now said two or three times he's going to do this, that and the other, and then never does it. Understand it now? ANd on the otherpoit, I was at the game I was at, whether that's the same one you thought you were at is another thing altogether, but two "big wins", oh yes that's right, the wins against the football juggernauts that are Airdrie United and Greenock Morton. Two teams that no doubt scare the living daylights out of the likes of Real Madrid and Inter Milan!

Cup Final Team
True what you about Bulvitis, it's the one position that really needs cover. On the point of Tokely, well there's Proctor, Stratford, Duncan and Cox who can all fill in at right back should they need to.

Cup Final Team
So we should if they're that bad.

Cup Final Team
It wouldn't be harsh at all, cause he was hopeless today.

Passing, that was what struck me today. Do these players actually practise passing the ball during training? It was abysmal to say the least. Some are saying it was an exciting and enjoyable game, well they must be pretty easily amused cause about 90% of the game was boring as heck. So much for Butcher's "one or two he was tired of" malarky, what did he do? Put out the same team again. Imrie shouldnt have started, not after last weeks performance, and the same with Bulvitis, but ICT gained a welcome 3 points....but had it been a better team, it would've almost certainly been a defeat and ICT's game got longer and longer as time went on. On the whole, Esson was fine, Golabek was quite good in the first half but not so much in the second, and the opposite can be said for Tokely. Didn't think much of him in the 1st half but was better in the second. Munro was alright, as was Bulvitis (he couldn't have got much worse after last weeks performance) but a leader and a big centre half is definately needed in January. In the midfield, Proctor wasn't particularly bad, but had a fairly quiet game. Don't know what people see in Duncan, cause I thought he did nowt. Foran had a very quiet game, but how he missed that chance at the back post is beyond me. It was probably harder to do what he did than it was to score! And once again, there is Imrie. What an ego fantical player. Always goes for the glory and is greedy to the extreme. He has the pace, he has the agility, he has the talent. He just needs to channel it into a good performance. He should stop all this me, me, me stuff, cut out all the fancy nonsense and actually realise that football is a team sport, and look for the pass once in a while. There's other players on the field bar him. Sanchez was okay but was quite lucky with his goal. Not quite as good as normal, but still not bad. Up front, I thought Rooney was rubbish. I see two bright sparks have voted to give him 5 points in the POTY poll! Seriously unbelievable stuff. Did absolutely nothing, except run around near the defender for 90 minutes. A poor performance at best. Of the substitutes, Cox didn't have much time and unsurprisingly did very little when he came on, but a special mention has to go to Johnny Hayes. He was ace when he came, running and running at the full backs. Odhiambo was also quite good when he came and added a bit of zip to the front line. To cap it all of he scored an excellent, well taken goal. He can't help not getting more involved towards the end cause every ball punt to him was miles over his head. Of Butcher, well he seems to like to talk about changes but seldomly does so. Remember his three pronged attack he was going to go with a month or so ago and then on matchday went with one up front? Well today was the same. A couple of changes, and Hayes re-introduced from the start? Aye right, the same thing again. Too many long balls, a disorganised looking team and yet again another defensive mindset. Things need changing Terry and had that been a better team ICT had come against today, it could well have ended in defeat.
