  1. I see that Jimmy Nicholl is going to be named as the new boss.
  2. I know who I want to be the next ICT manager - Ricki Herbert! Interesting to note as well, if you read Steve Paterson's book, he says that he and the current New Zealand manager were big friends during the time they had at Sydney Olympic. A Herbert/Paterson dream time...?
  3. I get your point, but that's just because they're so hopeless at getting to major finals! :D Funnily enough, I heard a German guy talking about the England team on the radio a few weeks ago. He reckoned that the reason that the English media go on about '66 so much, is because they've only done it once. The Germans have gotten into 13 major finals (both united and under West Germany) in their time, so they no longer talk about it. They've done it so often that they don't need to hype them up, getting to a major final isn't such a big deal any more. The reason England go on about their World Cup win, is cause they've only done it once. Had they won it, say five or six times, it would no longer have the fascination and hype that it has.
  4. Dick Campbell! :D
  5. If you are looking for a physical name in a book then you are correct, but just because a team won does not necessarily mean that they will be remembered. For example, the Dutch World Cup side of 1974 are remembered more than the West Germany side that won the competition that year. Arrigo Sacchi's AC Milan are remembered far more than Fabio Capello's AC Milan, even though Capello's Milan won more than Sacchi's did. Jut because a team, does not mean that they won't fade into obscurity as time goes on.
  6. I'm not sure Butcher's got the right attitude to be England boss. Imagine if they came up against Argentina. He still seems awfully bitter about a lot of things.
  7. And wee Dougie Imrie!
  8. Not necessarily so. He was also referred to as "Ex-Scotland Assistant" (no relevance there) and I think I also heard him on one occasion as "Ex-Motherwell Manager"!
  9. I've seen quite a few programmes Butcher's been on since he joined ICT, and the club never get mentioned. If it were me, I'd slip a couple of ICT references in, just to give the club a bit of a name-check and a bit of PR. Butcher never does though, whether it be on his recent Sky Sports appearances, "James Corden's World Cup Live" or the infamous Champions League coverage caption fiasco. Unless of course, he's using this coverage to bring up opportunities for where his next move could be.
  10. I take it he'll be chucking his Clach job in then.
  11. According to Wikipedia, vuvuzelas are not South African at all. They were invented in Mexico in the 70s and didn't catch on in RSA until the 1990s!
  12. I've watched both the Slovenia games so far, and if England can't beat Algeria then they won't beat Slovenia either. From what I've seen, Slovenia are a good side, though I think England will certainly up their game.
  13. I see Margo's on the case! Margo wants them banned! You'd think for someone with such a terrible, life long condition, she'd have better things to do than worry if people bring plastic horns to games. I see the article says that 500 people complained to the BBC because of the noise from them. Do some people have nothing to do at all but complain? Sad sad people. I stopped hearing the vuvuzuelas after the second game or so. I also read elsewhere that Dundee United fans have being buying them in bulk for the new season when the OF come to town. Good them I say, anything that drowns out the sounds of the bigot brothers is fine by me.
  14. The official site seems to take forever to update, it's the last place I check for ICT news. Until I read his book, I hadn't realised what a trans-continental career Pele had had. I wonder if Beijing Gouan were the team after him. They do have Maurice Ross at the moment. His influence perhaps?
  15. I would argue that Jimmy is a victim of timing. Had ICT been around in the senior leagues when he was a "young" keeper and put in performances such as we witnessed on a weekly basis against teams both big and small I am sure he would have gone a lot further. Lets not forget that as a 'lower league keeper' he did keep both Nicky Walker (a former international) and Les Fridge (ex Chelsea and St Mirren in the top flight) out of the team !!! Les Fridge was rubbish though!
  16. Is it not the case though, that Uruguay and Mexico just need to draw their game for them both to go through? If that is the case then expect 90 minutes of neither side trying to score with easy slow passing to each with a few kicky uppys just for good measure.
  17. That's that Colin Murray. Some DJ off Radio 1 and used to do the Channel 5 games. Oh, and by the way, has anyone been listening to Chris Moyles's "Comedy Commentary"? No, I haven't neither.
  18. That's not a sneak peak of the new ICT home kit is it?! :D
  19. Watched the Chile v Honduras game earlier (I haven't missed a game yet!), and thought Chile looked good. Real fast paced, attacking stuff, something that's been lacked in the World Cup so far.
  20. I think it's time this site had a bit of World Cup fever! Click Here It's just CTO as normal though. A bunch of trumpets droning on and on. :022:
  21. Crewe haven't been a Premiership side for about twenty years! Ex-Premiership indeed.
  22. Charlie Christie's surely a bit too old for the Under 19s is he not?
  23. Indeed there was. It was taken down just in case it "caused offence".
  24. I'd probably stick with Green. He may have made one freak mistake, but he also had one excellent save as well.
  25. I typed in Renegade! into the first box and ! into the second, and it came out as - Renegadildo B)
