No more Merger talk
It's my understanding that Inverness United had been/was/is already in use in the welfare leagues (as was Inverness FC IIRC). I must say, I quite like the name but I do personally refer to the club in speech as 'Caley Thistle' (to me simplified names are for one of the pre-merger clubs), while central belters almost exclusively seem to refer to us as 'Inverness' for some reason and it's no more simple than Heart of Midlothian (should they just change their name officially to 'Hearts'? Nope!). Another option for the new club name though that may well have fit bill would be Inverness Union FC which could also be used as an homage to another club within our DNA. Just for the record, there are clubs with longer names. Some of the Faroese teams for example have ridiculously long names!

Contract Situation
I agree with the poster above. I don't think Vincent has shown anything like the same amount of bite that he showed when he first arrived. Now the cup win was a brilliant moment but I do wonder if it's blurred some people's opinion somewhat. Vincent's not a bad player and I would be pleased if he was retained, but if he was to go, it wouldn't be the end of the world. In all honesty, I would aim to keep Williams out of the two every day of the week. Fast, direct, versatile - he's a great and very underrated player for us. It'd be a blow if he was to leave.

I don't know how true it is but I do recollect talk that Hughes doesn't rate Vincent highly. Remember there was talk of him being offloaded a couple of seasons back?

Gellions Bar ICTFC Supporters Buses
As pointed out earlier in the thread, I'm not referring to you.

Gellions Bar ICTFC Supporters Buses
Again, I have no issue with the Gellions running a bus, Dows running a bus....or even the health food shop on Baron Taylor Street running a bus! They're free to do that and we'll see if there's the demand across the support for it (which I'm not sure there is but we'll see). We all know how hard CJT find it to fill a bus at times, so surely if you're on the board of CJT, your job should be to fill it's bus. Attempting to run a bus for somewhere else would that would potentially harm the amount travelling on the CJT bus (and not to mention the missing out on revenue) so would undoubtedly be a conflict of interests. If you're on the CJT board, you're attention should be with the CJT bus. I don't think that's too much to ask.

No more Merger talk
I knew we weren't the only ones, but I'd still say it was a fair uncommon occurrence in the past few decades. After all, Aberdeen's and Motherwell's etc. took place well well beyond living memory. I'd say though, the only other merger from say the last 30 years that's been more successful than ICT is probably Copenhagen!

Gellions Bar ICTFC Supporters Buses
It'll be interesting to see if any extra people start attending ICT away games as a result of the Gellions running the bus (and I'm skeptical there will be). If it was a cheaper option then they might attract a few, but not for £20. Again, we'll see how long this 'allies not rivals' mantra lasts. Could it not also reach the stage that our already small away support could disperse across both buses, thus meaning that neither bus reaches a quota allowing it to run? Only a matter of time IMO.

Gellions Bar ICTFC Supporters Buses
Indeed I was. I have no issue with with the Gellions (or anyone else) running their own bus. Allies not rivals? Really?! The Gellions were happy to waltz in when the Stirling bus kerfuffle was going and attempted to advertised itself as being different and essentially better (singing is allowed!). There's no doubt that one will take business away from the other and so forth. Someone on the board of CJT while also actively organising a bus for the Gellions has a conflict of interest and as far as I'm concerned in a dereliction of duty. Does the CEO of Coca Cola work part time making arrangements for Pepsi?

Gellions Bar ICTFC Supporters Buses
Why's someone who's wanting join the CJT board trying to run a rival bus?

No more Merger talk
I'm starting to get a bit tired of this attitude that the merger is something to forget, something to cover up and something to feel embarrassed by. The merger is an interesting historical event that took place here and that's something to be remembered. Mergers are nothing new on football, but ours is one of the few that's happened (probably worldwide) in the last few decades and it's undoubtedly been a big success. That's something to be celebrated......as are the achievements of the two clubs that came before.

It'll be interesting to see how the Gellions bus gets on in competition with the CJT bus, especially considering it's the same price.

No. Scrapped years ago.

Development League info. (2015/16)
Once again I'll use the Hamilton Accies approach to outline the use of youngsters on the bench. What they used to do under Billy Reid (and may well still do) is name their starting eleven, then a bench with five first team subs and a goalkeeper. The seventh spot was reserved for a player in the youth set-up but he'd have little chance of coming on. What the coaches would then do the following week is look at how he'd changed as a result of that experience. Had he become arrogant? Was he still pulling his weight? Did he now think he was too good for the youth team? Or on the contrary, did he benefit from that experience? Was he now working harder to gain that spot again? If it's good enough for the highly acclaimed youth system at Accies, it's good enough for us. And who's to say they won't make an appearance? If we were gubbing a team, what would the harm be in giving him the last 20 minutes and if he didn't, at least he'd have the experience of being in the matchday squad. We'd have nothing to lose by doing this when he can't fill the bench but could well potentially have something to gain.

Celtic -V- Inverness CT
The line up to me looked like - Fon Williams Horner Warren Devine Tremarco Tansey Polworth-------------Vigurs Draper Roberts---------------------Storey Draper would often go ahead of Roberts and Storey in order to pressure the Celtic back line, with Storey and Roberts folding back into the wings of the midfield. Worked really well on the whole and I too was impressed by Vigurs and Horner. The only change I'd like to see would be Storey and Roberts swapping sides as I think Storey works better on his natural side.

Slur on Club
I'm really starting to find the whole gypsy stuff a bit tired. I know we might not look at it with much malice and neither ourselves or Ross County look at it as particularly offensive, but the world's moved on. Hard to believe anyone has any sympathy with this clown who got banned though as using terms about teams and people especially from Romania was always asking for trouble. Can't say I'll mourn the absence of this repeat offender who can't even get himself a half decent haircut.

Inverness CT -V- Aberdeen
Ah Aberdeen. A place where most of it's inhabitants are colder and greyer than their city itself. And anyway, who becomes so angry after their team's flopped to a community-feeder-club-with-no-fans that they read the opposition club's forum and when they don't like what's being said, sign up to hurl abuse? What a sad sad existence they must have.

The end (of football) is nigh!
I remember reading a quote somewhere from the well traveled English manager Bob Houghton. He claimed that the Hong Kong national league used to be a very good standard. Then the EPL and other major European leagues started getting shown on TV and people didn't want to watch the local sides anymore and thus the standard dropped. I've always found it strange as well that people who are the loudest to moan about kick-off times and claim to be 'against modern football' are the same ones who subscribe to Sky and BT. The very root of the problem. You also see now the concept of Inverness-based people who claim to be Man City and Chelsea fans. Would you have seen that 20 years ago?

Contract Situation
Tansey and Draper no. Vigurs and Vincent - yes. I'd also argue he's a better winger than Mutombo as well.

January transfer window.
Aye, maybe if they only had one striker to choose from they'd have won eh....
-
January transfer window.
Seems to be some posters are very close to going down the old 'you've never played so what do you know?' line. A bizarre concept which seems totally unique to football. You'd never hear someone say "What do you know about politics? You've never been an MP". Jonathan Ross reviews films, but how many has he directed?

January transfer window.
Higdon could've been a good foil for Storey and would undoubtedly have scored goals. How that isn't what Hughes is looking for is absolutely bizarre.

Banning young team from busses
Can we please stop calling them a 'young team'? Every time I see it and I can't stop picturing some teenage ned with a thick Glaswegian accent saying "Hey mistah! Gies a quid to watch ya motar!"
