  1. Jackie McNamara?! Deary me. On the subject of Ossie Ardiles though, I read Duncan Shearer's book a while back and he waxes lyrical about him as a manager.
  2. I'm sure he applied/was linked for the job years ago. Might have been after Charlie Christie resigned. Presume he wouldn't have changed his mind about coming north.
  3. Did a good job at Motherwell on the whole while the Rangers gig was a bit of a hiding to nothing. We could certainly do a lot worse.
  4. How anyone with any self-respect would demean themselves enough to Butcher back is astounding. He treated the club like absolute dirt when he left.
  5. If I remember correctly, Latapy was always said to be the more attack-minded of the management team. In that case he'd certainly play a more exciting game, that's for sure.

What's Kevin MacDonald up to these days? He'd be a real coup if we could get him IMO. Experienced coach, must have loads of contacts down south, did a decent enough job at Swindon, as well as being an Invernesian. Whether he'd be interested in moving back up here, if we could afford him or even if he wants to be a manager in his own right again I don't know, but in terms of what we need right now, I think he'd be the perfect fit if we could get him.

Some talk in the press today that Paul Sheerin is being considered as well. Did a decent job at Arbroath from what I remember but not a particularly exciting appointment. I wonder if Paul Telfer will be in the running again. He was the second choice when Hughes got the job apparently and came with some very good references. He'd also have contacts of the lower leagues in England which might come in handy.

Not my choice. He'd need a good assistant for it to be a success. Promoting someone to manage players he previously played alongside isn't always a good idea either, in any job for that matter.

Not a chance he'd come to us.

In terms of rebuilding, scouting, contacts etc. I think Stuart McCall would be the best fit. I think he can be a bit defensively minded though.

Eh? The board have given the management team the biggest budget ever and broke into a rainy day fund to try and ease the injury crisis. It was Yogi who spent most of the time moaning about it and spending it on dross like Liam Hughes.
  13. So much for it being something people on social media have invented cause they don't like him...

A cup win, missing out on another by a penalty shoot-out, Europe, 3rd place, two top six finishes, a 7th place finish despite terrible injury problems. With a resume like that it should never have ended like this. Sad, but probably for the best.
  15. What's happened to Mutombo? I've not heard his name mentioned anywhere. Has he left the building?
  16. John Collins sticking up for one of buddies. Colour me amazed!
  17. Neil and Canning are at a very different club in terms of ideals and even then managed the reserve team prior to getting the top job. Tommy Wright was the assistant and had previously managed clubs in Northern Ireland while Neilson is again in a different type of club where there's a very experienced DoF above him.
  18. Probably nonsense, but I see someone on P&B is saying that Hughes got an official warning from the club a couple of weeks ago after referring to Kenny Cameron by a less than complimentary name... Would certainly explain why KC didn't thank Yogi in his post-match speech.
  19. My understanding is both kits are changing as per the contract with Carbrini and from next season onwards we'll go back to switching between a new home and away kit like we did before. The new away kit is quite something apparently but that's all I know!
  20. I take it Calum Ferguson has been/is being released as I see he's not one of the U20s being offered a senior deal. Probably could've come good but had some terrible injuries.
  21. Like Foran, a no thanks at this time for me. Let him start at the bottom a la Paul Hartley and see how he does. If he's a success there and the opportunity comes up some time in years to come, then we could class him as a serious candidate.
  22. He isn't the best manager we've ever had. Successful yes, but the best? No.
  23. I heard something similar to the above the other week but what I heard was an individual member of the board (who I don't know) was going to pay for a new contract for Raven personally. I can only assume that this was vetoed by Hughes. In that case then the 'moving Raven on to bring in an exciting player' was a flat out lie. Every man and their dog knows that the board and Yogi are at loggerheads at the moment and we can't carry on like this. If he's the manager at the start of next season I'll be very surprised, but I would say the chances of him being here this time next year are almost certainly nil.
  24. Seen some rumours on Twitter today that Yogi is away. Any truth in this? Certainly wouldn't be overly surprising if it was true.
  25. I didn't realise Fisher was away. Granted we barely saw him, but he did have the physique to offer something a bit different. This Devine saga is a bit strange. He's been on the verge of signing for weeks but still hasn't! Can't really see him doing any better than here really and even then it could be argued he's lucky to be getting anything at all.
