  1. Plus Points Given time to build his own team, can be successful while playing passing-based attacking football. Can motivate given the right players. Will bring attention to the club and the area given his status and will also attract players. Seems to have a good knowledge/contacts within the lower Football League and non-league. He has charisma and can be a real showman. I kinda miss his end of game away match routine. Will get rid of deadwood, players not pulling their weight and he anyone he perceives as a threat to his 'I'm the boss' attitude, even if they're your better players or club legends. Will attempt to talk the club, the area and the fans up as much as possible. Can work well on a tight budget. Negative Points Rules with an iron fist. Some players simply won't take to his tough love approach. He's by no means a tactical maestro. If his set-up/line-up/formation works, then he's fine. If it's not working or a team have found a way to counteract it, he hasn't a clue what to do. Hasn't a clue about substitutions and often makes them after the 85th minute, where they can make no impact at all. Prior to building his own team, expect about two seasons of a long ball borefest. Seems to have favourites, who he'll pick no-matter what. His record without Maurice Malpas is very very poor. If he can bring Malpas with him and/or Steve Marsella though, it might counteract this. Doesn't take well to criticism at all. Expect a few shouting matches with supporters. Blows must win matches. His record in England is appalling. Brentford in particular was an absolute disaster. His time in Australia at Sydney was also pretty poor. Hibernian out did them all though! Things to be wary of As mentioned, Butcher will talk up the club and the area as much as possible but he doesn't mean it. He can play the fans and the press like an piano and can come across as a lovely bloke in the press. Behind the scenes though, it's a different story. I saw a few times him act absolutely appallingly. In short, he's not a nice man. Expect him as well, as soon as a bigger job comes up as well, to be down the road to take over elsewhere as fast as you can spell Valley Parade. As mentioned elsewhere, on the whole, Butcher was a good manager for ICT. That doesn't change the fact though that his antics at the end were absolutely dreadful. Turning up in the Hibs end and being introduced in hospitality as the 'new Hibs manager' said more about the man than any interview ever could and led to our former chairman David Sutherland to refer to him on TV as 'disgusting'! Butcher felt he doing us a favour the whole and that we should be grateful for it (expect him to think of himself as the King of Newport). There was a time when Butcher could do no wrong, but he's got no-one to blame but himself. He could've had a job here for life but the fact he threw it all away says it all. If he does get the Newport job, get ready for either a big success (if given time) or a dreadful failure. Be wary of him at all times though. His ego's as big as Wembley.
  2. I have it on good authority that Butcher and Black got on pretty well. Black much preferred him to Brewster apparently.
  3. This is from a Hibs fan on the Newport forum. Have a look at the second paragraph. I wonder which former ICT player that was.
  4. Funnily enough, I was looking at a Newport forum the other week (I was looking to see if they were saying anything about Gary Warren and ICT in the Scottish Cup) and someone on there mentioned that it was definitely on the cards. Interestingly one person also said that one of the bookies were offering odds on Warren getting it at one point.
  5. If Yogi had gone and the chairman had been unable to change his mind, I wonder who we'd have gone for. Presume we'd have persevered with a Latapy/Charlie Christie/Scott Kellacher management team until the end of the season.
  6. I see discounting penalties Liam Boyce's goals-per-ninety minutes ratio this season is the same as Billy Mckay's. I suppose you could argue as well that Boyce's record is slightly better as he has an inferior team around him. Also, what about Ali Crawford? Talk is Hamilton won't be able to hang onto him and his style of play seems pretty similar to Andrew Shinnie. Think he'd be a good player in our system.

  8. https://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/fp/sport/football/inverness-caledonian-thistle/558832/john-hughes-nearly-quit-football-josh-meekings-ban/ Another repercussion of this whole sad state of affairs. Obviously we don't know how close he really was to resigning, but had he done so, I think we'd all understand why.
  9. I heard that at Kilmarnock as well from a pretty good source. Seemingly wants to move back to England which is fair enough. The fact he was a first team regular and then all of sudden hardly ever plays is pretty telling I think.

  11. Well let's think about this type of scenario for a moment. In the League Cup Final last year, around about the 80th minute, Richie Foran attempted to head a cross from a corner kick towards the goal, but didn't get a strong enough head on it. Replays showed that he was pulled back by an Aberdeen player. Now using the Celtic Logic (that being that their crystal balls have told them beyond all doubt that it definitely would've been a red card, the penalty would've been scored and that there was no way ICT would come back from 2-0 down despite it happening twice before and once with ten men for a fair chunk of the match), that penalty would've been scored and with ten minutes left ICT would've ran the clock down and won the League Cup. Sure we were disappointed that we never got it, but we accepted it and unfortunately didn't do the business and got beat. Disappointed? Yes. Had the penalty been given, would things be different? Probably. Demand the club write a letter to the SFA and our fans indulge in some absolutely sickening abuse of the Aberdeen player who we can't we even remember which one it was? No. Using the Celtic Logic, it would be fair game, but we didn't. Who cares about all the success Celtic have had. In recent years, ICT have shown more class than your club ever will. You say the Celtic fans are demanding answers. Who cares? They're nothing but bad losers and (as anyone who's ever looked at that crackpot blogger Phil Mac...Mac...Mac...whatever his name is will tell you) a sizeable chunk are thick as mince. It's quite embarrassing that they've totally bowed down to them. Of course though, it's all about money. Thick-as-mince fans buy stuff and you wouldn't want to alienate your largest market... Finally, you say Celtic have a number of reasons to distrust the SFA? Why would that be? Is that these crackpot conspiracies involving Masons, the Triads, UFOs and all the rest of it? Utterly cringeworthy, with Celtic once again attempting to create a vehicle for their thick fans to vent their anger out. I'll tell you this, I'd find it hard to support a club like that.
  12. James Vincent will leave by mutual consent at the end of the season I believe.
  13. What about Miles Hippolyte? Just scored a cracker against Hibs there and was quite impressive in the Challenge Cup the other week. Could he replicate his form in the Premiership like Greg Stewart did at Dundee? He'd be worth a punt I reckon.
  14. Hope Meekings scores the winner in the final just for the lols and that!
  15. I was talking about the woman in the video! Damn all those ICT fans pulling Celtic players in the box!

  18. It was. The ball spent most of the time going sideways, and the defence looked suspect. It did go sideways at times yes. And then it was inevitably hoofed forward for Watkins to chase.
  19. I really can't see the PT formation getting another airing tbh. At least he knows that didn't work? The formation at Partick wasn't really the problem. It was the fact we went with Watkins as the lone striker and hoofed the ball in his general direction for 90 minutes. Have to agree what others have though. There seems to be no build-up to this game whatsoever and taking 2,000 as seems to be rumoured would be an embarrassment. A sad indictment of the interest there is from the local area IMO.
  20. There are better options out there than Liam Boyce. Kudos to him getting a hat-trick last night but every time we have played against County, I have never really noticed him on the pitch. If we were to look at a County player, I wouldn't mind Michael Gardyne. The championship is an area I would definitely look - James Keatings is a great shout. I would take a few from that league such as Gavin Reilly, Jason Cummings, Dominique Malonga, Calum Gallagher. - Unfortunately they wouldn't come cheap. I've always rated Gardyne and I see he's come onto a game again. I take him, but should United release him I'd presume he'd rather stay at County. Previously, I've also rated Carey as a replacement for Shinnie but he seems to be off form this season. I don't know what his situation is, but that Greek left back they had was excellent and I'd take him in a second. There are better options out there than Liam Boyce. I would take a few from that league such as Gavin Reilly, Jason Cummings, Dominique Malonga, Calum Gallagher. - Unfortunately they wouldn't come cheap. Apart from Gavin Reilly and maybe a couple of others, I'd avoid Championship and stick to how we go about our business (looking at Leagues 1 and 2 and Blue Square Premier) as its been working plus there are good players down there. I also wouldn't mind having a scout around Ireland either. So you'd avoid the Championship, yet scout Ireland? A league which is probably a similar, if not lower level. Presumably you mean Northern Ireland as well which is probably somewhere around Scottish Division Three standard. I'm not against scouting Ireland at all per se, but surely the Championship here would take priority over it. Anyway, how many players who've been brought over from both leagues in Ireland have really made it in Scotland? Aside from the aforementioned Boyce and one or two others, very few (Boyce had been at Werder Bremen before that as well). I remember Stephen Kenny trying to build a sort of League of Ireland XI at Dunfermline a few years back and it didn't work.
  21. I'd also like both. In fact, imagine a partnership - that could work actually. I'm not sure if Yogi wouldn't be interested, he seems to have been a pretty regular scorer even when County were doing rubbish and seems to be a very hard worker. I think he'd slot into our team just perfectly. Wouldn't mind taking that De Vita as well. It's been a while since we raided County!
  22. Boyce got a hat-trick for County tonight and seemingly his contract is up in the summer. Maybe he wouldn't be such a bad signing for us after all...
  23. While Celtic obviously have a higher standard of player than us, I hope we don't exacerbate the scoreline by choosing the wrong line-up and using, like on Wednesday, an awful gameplan.
  24. HT - ICT 0-1 Celtic FT - ICT 0-3 Celtic ICT 1st scorer - Tansey Celtic 1st scorer - Armstrong Time of 1st Goal - 26
  25. Presume that was season we scored in every game.
