The nations who sent representatives to the assembly recognised Ahmadinajad?s right to speak on these issues. Therefore, any protest should have been based on the content of the speech made before them. But they couldn?t wait for Ahmadinajad to start spouting off about the Holocaust ? they had made the decision to walk out before they entered the hall and ended up looking rather stupid because at that point Ahamadinajad hadn?t said anything particularly inflammatory. It?s been amusing to listen to these diplomats trying to explain exactly what it was that offended them so much ? they don?t know because they probably weren?t even listening, just waiting for the call to walk. I?m not trying to defend Ahamadinajad here. He?s clearly a bit of header but so are the Presidents of Italy and France and we?re still happy to sit and listen to whatever nonsense they spout without making some kind of protest. Because he's a bit of a loose canon, there's a tendency in the west to try and make a fuss every time he opens his mouth. He's an easy target, conveniently fitting the bill of a crazed 'Dr Evil' who wants destroy the world. The "wipe Israel of the map" line has been pushed very heavily by the British and American governments as we try to cast him in this role. The fact that he didn't actually say it doesn't seem to matter to our politicians as they pursue enemies that look the part on the telly.

Here are the words that caused dozens of diplomats, including Britain's ambassador to the UN, to walk out of the conference hall: "Following World War Two, they resorted to miltary aggression to make an entire nation homeless under the pretext of Jewish suffering. They sent migrants from Europe, the United States and other parts of the world in order to establish a totally racist government in occupied.....Palestine........" At this point the walkout started. The phrase "totally racist government" seems to be the one that offended the diplomats. So what do folk think? Is`there anything in that statement that offends you? My opinion is that Ahmadinejad was articulating exactly how many people around the world (especially his part of the world) feel about the existence of Israel. By refusing to listen to that point of view, western diplomats make a mockery of their commitment to multilateralism, the UN and freedom of speech.

8 teams in only 2 are picking Munro - Harry and IHE. Great minds.....

It's because Setanta are going to show one of the games live but are picking it nearer the time, depending what game is more important. They cant show games live at 3pm so all the games are at 12.30 so that they kick off at same time and one can be on the tv The whole thing is bit of a nonsense. It's illegal to show live football between 1500 and 1700 hours on a Saturday (rightly so in my opinion) but it's fine for the TV companies to move all of the fixtures to get around the law. Kind of reminds me of John Teasdale.....

Alice Mahon: Why I could stay and fight no longer
-
We've had a couple of home games against Aberdeen on Setanta. 1-1 on a Monday night two seasons ago when Graham Bayne scored a diving header and a 2-1 defeat when Dennis scored his 100th goal. Not sure if there are any others.

Is this a serious option? I think that Grant needs to be replaced in the long term - he's had a shocking season both defensively and in terms of his passing. But Rosscoe? I can't comment having never seen him play centre-half. Was he so convincing yesterday?
-
All but Hamilton for me too. As horrible as this season has been, it is good to have competitive games post-split for the first time.

Scotrail If you're coming from sneck by public transport then all of the remaining away games involve changing in Glasgow.

This is a bit clearer in the BBC interview. When Butcher talks about patience, i think he means patiently waiting for the right time to pump the ball into the box rather than patiently passing ball through the midfield. This week and last week he mentioned the poor quality of rushed long balls. I think he's referring to Granty, possibly Lionel as well.

I can't wait. That game is huge. Not sure about pints in Feegie Park though. I've heard the new ground is just a brisk 10 minute walk from the Wee Barrel.

Post-split Fixtures
-
As the fixtures come out, i'm starting to get very nervous. Look at the next round of fixtures. We're away to St.Mirren while Flakirk entertain Motherwell. We could easily find ourselves 1 point from bottom at the end of play.
-
We're away to St.Mirren in a fortnight and home to Falkirk on the last day........

Don't deny it Don - they despise us all. They want us to be relegated to punish us. That's why they refuse to listen to Renegade and insist that Jimmy-Jabi plays up front with Esson at left-back.
-
It sounded like the inroduction of a pantomime badie. I calf expected some to shout - he's behind you! Seriously though, even listening to radio you can hear an improvement in the announcing.

Midfielder form the U-19's. Don't remeber seeing him on the bench before. Vigurs must be a bit put out.
-
4-4-2 with Tokely at centre-half, Duncan in right midfield and Foran on the left. CC was saying that he'd never seen Duncan in right midfield? When he first came to the club he played (badly) at right-back a few times. Does anyone remember him playing on the right side of midfield? Does anyone remember seeing Rosscoe play centre-half?
-
Pavels is out injured. Duncan in for him is the only change from last week. So who plays centre-half?
-
FourFourTwo!!! - that rules out Brewster then.

ferrygodfather's feedback page shows that he has recently sold Football Manager 2009, 3 pairs of mens bootcut jeans (34 short) and a stylish Hugo Boss jacket. The plot thickens.... You couldn't make this sh1t up.

The collection of footage on the internet of police being aggressive or violent towards protesters has been growing steadily over the last couple of weeks. Most of it's pretty tame when compared with the behaviour of police in other countries and the behaviour of our own officers during the social unrest of the eighties. But something has definitely changed. Police tactics have changed dramitically since the huge, peaceful protests which took place in opposition to the Iraq war. I frist witnessed this a few years ago when the G8 met at Gleneagles and a variety of different protests took place across Scotland. The police operation was enormous. Forces from throughout the UK travelled north, many of them riot cops with masks, shields and enormous batons. Extremely peaceful and creative protesting was met with cold aggression, mass surveilance and hugely inappropriate use of counter-terrosim leglislation. This was complimented with a (very successful) tactic of splitting groups of protesters and detaning them in confined spaces for hours at time. I had never had a problem with the police before those protests. As a teenager, my natural intinct to rail against authority was met with a softly softly, sometimes paternal, always humorous approach from the Norhtern Constabulary. At protests in Edinburgh, Glasgow and London at the beginning of this decade, the police were rriendly and relaxed - their primary purpose seemed to be to ensure that traffic was cleared to allow the marches to proceed smoothly. But those were different times. A lot of people have had political passions awakened by war and imperialism, rampant free markets and the steady erosion of civil liberties. Unfortunately the response of the establishment has been to get tough. To spy to shout to clip people round the ear if they feel that's neccessary. Thankfully people here aren't willing to stand for that kind of sh1t. If they want to police in this way then we will film them, threaten them and spy on them. I don't much like having to do that. As delicious as the irony of the police being filmed by protestors and than put on trial by the media is, i don't think that walking around filming each other is the answer here. I'd prefer if they would just allow people to express themselves peacefully. Perhaps the fall-out from the G20 and videos that are currently floating around the interntet are a step towards that.

Bold signifies gross understatement. The first of these is about pace. He's not just slow but he refuses to run channels and put pressure on defenders. This is an essential requirement for almost any SPL striker. Even the Old Firm refuse to carry penalty-box lurkers in big games. The out-and-out striker is dying breed. The second point concerns Barrowman in the air. He's unbelievably crap in the air. He doesn't even challenge for the long balls and never looks a threat a set-pieces. The guy must be at least six feet tall. I cannot understand how a striker of that size has developed in British football without learning or at least trying to be a threat in the air. Understatement number three is the use of the word 'furious' to describe your response to his work-rate at Tynie in September. Surely something stronger is needed to describe the 5 hour rant that followed that game. I really hope he proves me completely wrong by scoring a hat-trick tomorrow.

I think Niculae was our worst ever signing. Regardless of what people think about him as a player, a lot of the recent problems that the club have had can be traced back to that signing. Charlie's resignation, dressing room unrest, boardroom power struggles. We gave away 12% of the club to sign the guy for feck sake!
