6,000 poor souls attended the county home game today !!??!! Do you think they all paid ?
  2. Alex I assumed you were old enough not to believe in the fairies. There are as likely as Scotland winning a football match and qualifying for the world cup.
  3. As I have said before on here, supporting Scotland is the triumph of hope over experience. It is fascinating to see that there is still a small group of "suckers" being sucked in.
  4. Over here in New Zealand ( a wee nation of 4.2 million people ) they are rejoicing over 6 well earned Gold medals. Australia ( population over 20 million ) only got 7 gold but won lots of silver medals prompting Aussies to state to Kiwis they meet that " silver is the new gold".
  5. Ah, the vagaries of time and football. Sixteen months ago Roy Hodgson was sacked as Liverpool Manager.
  6. Could someone please organize for IMH to meet up with Oddquine for a few pints at the Innes asap. There seems to be a definite attraction between the two. They also seem to almost deserve each other in a weird sort of way. Could someone also video the event and post it on here for posterity. Thanks in anticipation.
  7. I reckon from memory one of them lived on Muirfield Road, one lived on Annfield Road and another lived on Oldmills Road.
  8. Crownjaggie you bring back fond memories of 1978 and Scotland 3 Holland 2 at Mendosa in the Argentine and many other major pointless victories in our history ( i.e. 1967 - Scotland 3 World Cup holders England 2 ). I agree with your analysis of what we should from now on call The Scottish tendency . Tonights game will be a good marker for it. According to the tendency, tonight we should lose gallantly and unluckily to the Argentinians or beat them by three or five points. Whatever one of those results it sets the tendency up for another major appearance at Eden Park next Saturday against England. Three hours from kick off and I am conned into watching again.
  9. The accomodation here in Invercargill is the worst I have stayed in, in my life! As for the food - don't start me on that! Views what views? It's raining all the time, you can't see a thing! Hope things improve up North for the next game.
  10. The Georgia game was another major embarrassment for us. Major handling errors throughout the match. We couldn't score a try. We have scraped through with two victories against very poor opposition. Not a lot to be proud of there. I stand by my original assertion that this team is a bunch of bozzos. Send therm home!
  11. Dewsburydude - we have never played Georgia at full International level but have played and lost to them with our 'A' Team. I predict another embarrassing performance for that game. As for Argentina we have played them twelve times and lost to them eight of those times. Not a great deal of hope there. I can see all the Scots fans that have spent good money coming out here to NZ singing " We want our money back" at the Argentina game. Apt don't you think?
  12. It is lunch time here in Auckland NZ and I am watching another embarrassing display by a Scottish team. This time it is at rugby. It is hard to tell whether it is because Scotland are c**p or because Romania are better than expected. Whatever the cause the plea from Scots based here in NZ to the Scottish rugby team is the same. Go home you bunch of bozzos and leave us here in peace in NZ to enjoy the Rugby World Cup - your presence here is a total embarrassment to us. Go home now!
  13. Thanks for fixing Mantis. Argentina 1978 - we never did get our money back!
  14. The triumph of hope over experience !
  15. He didn't fit in with their pecking order.

Back in the 1960s and 1970s any Inverness team versus Elgin City was an intense rivalry. A lot more so than Ross County. Playing Elgin was the big match of the season because at this time Egin were one of the best teams around in the Highland League along with Caley and Thistle, so games were always close and tight affairs. I think the intense rivalry between Inverness and Elgin stemmed from Secondary School football and other school sports through the 60s and 70s where Elgin Academy were always desperate to beat Inverness schools. The games and sports against them had a hard edge to them. Again they and the Inverness schools dominated football and sports in the Highlands so any games or meetings between them were close and hard fought. Elgin fans were also very proud that in those days Elgin was classified as a city while Inverness was still classified as a town something they took pleasure in reminding us. I always had the impression that Elgin people had a chip on their shoulder when it came to dealing with people from Inverness.
  17. From what was said at Ferguson's media conference it looks like Rooney is a lost cause. Time to move on for both parties. Doubt Rooney will be able to turn it on for United from now on, no matter how hard he tries in an effort to make himself look valuable to other clubs. Big question is, would you keep playing him in the team given that he has said he wants to move on or do you focus on other players who are more committed? Knowing Ferguson I think it will be the latter and this is what has been happening over the last few weeks.
  18. Go to Liverpool and swap him for Gerrard and Torres. That would be a good deal.
  19. SMEE - Have advocated the following solution in the past and think it is truly the only way forward for Scotland in the future if we are to have any chance of qualifying for World Cup Finals or European Championships -- Create a North Atlantic qualifying region consisting of Iceland, Faeroe Islands, Greenland ( assist/fund them to enter as a full FIFA rep ), Northern Ireland and Scotland. Top two teams in the group qualify for any finals. This puts us up against countries/competition very similar in capability and aspiration to our own levels. This would give us a genuine opportunity to qualify for finals in the future, where we can then be absolutely tanked by all the other finalists. The other alternative is to create separate competitions for genuine third rate teams like Scotland - so we have a chance to win a little trophy and some medals
  20. He did that gramophone gag the last time I was there! 2006 Pre-season friendly at Grant Street, 6 - 0 to ICT and best entertainment was the announcer. Think Charles Bannermann said it was Billy Nelson. Was it him this time around What was the gramophone gag?
  21. Whole thing was a major disappointment and snorefest. Sepp Blatter should be chopped off at the knees and fed to Paul the Octupus.
  22. Oh No! My final cast of the season hoping to get a bite from an insecure and sensitive L'pool fan and my line gets caught up with a little tiddler of a Man City fan. Not much of a bite.
  23. As a Man U supporter I am not confident at all about Livepool's ability to put up a decent fight against Chelsea. I wish Chelsea were playing a more accomplished and capable team this weekend. A team with backbone - like Everton say. Liverpool have no backbone and will fold and hand the title to the Londoners.
  24. Ally Macleod - nightmare!
  25. Brilliant! Brilliant! QUESTION -- At the start of the video when Ayr United come out onto the park the Ayr number 11 reaches into the front of his shorts, pulls something out and throws it on the ground. What was that?
