  5. No Scarlet I am just a young lad..................compared to most following this thread
  6. Scarlet your first sentence covers it nicely!
  7. Not long after moving into Inverness in 1968 attending Merkinch School I had a dream that I was on my way home along School Lane from school when I got in a fight with another boy and he pulled out a knife, at that I woke up with such a fright. The school I was dreaming about was the Police Station at Farraline Park To me it was just a bad dream until many years later my father in law was talking about being born in Rose Street and going to Bells School. Being interested in old Inverness I asked him where was Bells School? Now was that a dream or a nightmare?
  8. Don't forget what David Cameron said 'We are all in it together' Aye right
  9. Och well that will be a chocolate teapot for me then
  10. Is that at the new mart in Dingwall? You did give a bit of a clue
  11. Don't think I would fit in there and am not so up to date with all the modern cars so I will not bother applying.
  12. What is that Scarlet you have lost me!
  13. No Scarlet it was just a blend and not a very good one but the lebel was good and locals raved about it at the time, I had many a dram myself
  14. I would guess a 90, that model was known as the P4 with the 80,90,95,100 & 105 all sharing the same body with the only difference being the engine size & trim over a 10-12 year period I think! The one thing I liked about them was the rear door was hinged at the rear which gave very easy access. These cars had 2.3 & 2.6 straight 6 engines with acceleration from 0-60 well over 20 seconds but when the were wound up they could fly along with a top speed about 100mph which was fast in them days. Unfortunately there were not many roads suitable for that in the old days!
  15. You are getting good Charles! A Morris JB van at the front, Land Rover, Ford Zepher, Riley/Wolseley 1.5, Ford Consul behind the Husky, A30/35 & Bedford Dormobile on right. The Macfarlane biscuit van is a Morris FEK100. Don't know the van at the back but it looks like Postman Pats and the garage is Macrae & Dick with the petrol pumps inside the entrance from Strothers Lane.
  16. I couldn't see Bryan Munro putting out one like that now!
  17. Didn't play street football but would have been more interested in the Bedford HA van & the Granada behind it!
  18. It was not great but it was cheap, I thought it was bottled by H.D.Wines but notice the lebel Macfarlane & Bruce.
  19. The old slipway at South Kessock (doon the ferry)
  20. You have me beat with that helmet IHE
  21. Was she agitated at the thought of you arriving Charles?
  22. Yes, it's amazing the difficulty some people have in making that out! On the other hand once they get it the first time it's usually less of a problem thereafter. The likeness to a German soldier of World War 1 is incredible, in particular the moustache which was popular at the time and the shape of the helmet which is subtly different from the WW2 design. Charles you are getting your helmets mixed up or your world wars, unless you are seeing a different German's head than me No, definitely not IBM. The WW1 German helmet - the ordinary one, not the pickelhaube - was used up until around the early 30s. The shape is essentially the same as the WW2 helmet but the earlier one looks that bit more substantial. You got me reading up on helmets Charles! The Pickelhaube with the spike I associated with WW1 but it was replaced in 1916 with the Stahlhelm which continued in use into WW11 which I had on my German toy soldiers. I think I would be due pass marks in my history for that
  23. I did notice that bughtmaster and thought it would be nice to turn the clock back for a dram or two, I do like the Islay Malts!
  24. Ballifeary Road with the RNI at the top of the picture, 1 & 3 Springfield Gardens a visible, the old camp is on what is now Torvean Avenue. I have never herd of any camp being there will need to rely on the elder generation
