3rd or 1st
Now that we are sure Newco/Servco/The Rangers will definately not start in the SPL ( RIGHTLY ) and the beaks who run the game seem determined to shoe horn them into the first Division. I am not sure this would be the best thing for Scottish football. If we are going to punish them, we punish them good, and I would hope for the benefit of our football. The 3rd division is where I think they should be, and their attendances would re-invigorate the leagues from the bottom up. The boost in money to these lower league clubs would be tremendous, and they would still have something to play for, with promotion still possible through the play-offs, in the belief that this new Rangers would gain promotion at a canter. If they were to be flushed into the first division, they would still be certs for coming back up, but the rest of the first division will have no way of promotion with their being no play-offs. The SPL clubs have made the decision that they will be ok without the money Rangers help generate, so we should demote them to the third, sort out the spl monies distribution between clubs, and re organise the leagues before they get back up.

Dundee or Dunfermline?
Just because it will be another derby and they have a larger regular fan base, does not make it fair to promote Dundee. One thing mentioned to me yesterday by someone, Dundee the team who went into Administration twice, trying to buy success, replace another team who lost trying to buy success, whilst the one above board team ( Dunfermline ) miss out because they are perceived the smaller team.

Possible Transfer Targets
Everyone seem to harp on about Mackay-steven, He did some light training with us, appeared in pre season friendly against Clach and did well. As he hadnt played a competitive game for donkeys his body reacted badly and was not able to train again during pre season. Butcher still offered him a deal ( although it was pay as you play ), and he turned it down and then couldnt get a club until Airdrie took the chance about 4 or 5 months later.

Dundee or Dunfermline?
However, you could look at it and say who were closest to achieving their goal. How many points were Dunfermline away from survival, How many points were Dundee away from promotion. One off game would be a fair way of settling it, but on what terms do they sign their players, SPL or SFL wages!!!

League Re-Organisation
I do like the play off systems, but they have something like this in The Netherlands, and I seem to remember one team finishing about 30 points above their play off opponents, having hammered them home and away, and in a cup. Play off was for Europe I think, and they had a player sent off after minutes, and went on to lose. Where would the fairness be if the sending off was a poor decision. I know the create excitement, but should be limited to 4 clubs only, 1 from league above and three from lower, or just the 4 from lower league, like Englishshire.

Ross County eye Inverness ground share
If they have to start the season on our turf, then they will have to play all their first round of home games away at TCS. SPORTING INTEGRITY, as it could be argued that other teams will think that those first clubs to play them in Inverness will have an advantage from playing them on neutral gtround, so Im pretty sure they would have to play all 11 clubs at TCS before returning home. Would be weird to sit in the away stand to watch us play our away day at County!!!!!

Where now for the SPL?
The 1000 gate number is most likely from those teams closer to the central belt where the attendance more than doubles, even trebles when the old firm were in town. We can only give 2500 plus the south open end of the main stand, so 3000 max. But the likes of Motherwell and Killie, Hibs, Dundee Utd, St Johnstone, Aberdeen, will drop that 5-6000 plus gates. Celtic will not be immune, 60,000 for old firm games, but last year attendances of under 50,000 were frequent. Celtic 20-30 points ahead, can you see 55,000 turning up tp see them play us, county, Killie, St Mirren, St johns, Dunfermline or Dundee etc etc. How much sponsership will be lost, how much revenue from match day top rate hospitality etc etc. As I said, we have county, for one season, maybe more, so gate takings will be similar for the first season. SKY TV? not sure if you were paid per tv game, but they wont have an away old firm game each weekend, unless my English pals are correct in what they are saying the rumour is that SKY are to follow Rangers back through the leagues. What is likely, is the third, second and first division clubs will get a boost, which will give some a season or twos cash flow, as all will have two home games v the Newco. The likes of Elgin may get 6-8000, Queens Park 15,000+ as Rangers fans will flock to see their team at Hampden for the last time in a few years. As for this argument that our clubs did it in the past ( Aberdeen and Dundee Utd in european finals playing exceptional football ), when they didn't have money....... well a lot of the other leagues didn't have so much money then either, but now they have and the gulf will be huge to the average teams in other leagues. One real positive though, Celtic should get out voted on the money distribution, and this crazy 11-1 approval vote. Get it down to an 7-5, or 8-4 vote, so it is more of a even distribution, with the increase in money for league placing being fair. All in all, I think the club who will suffer the most, in terms of total income loss, will be Celtic. I can see their attendances dropping to even 40,000 this season, less sponsors, less income from hospitality, and players wanting to leave to gain more competitive matches. It will be very interesting to see what SKY do in 12 months. Everyone seems to think that ESPN will step in, but they may be thinking their is no interest without the old firm too. Kilmarnock, Motherwell, Dundee United, Hearts, Aberdeen to name a few are very close to the edge. If one does tip over, what outcry will their be then.

Where now for the SPL?
The demise of Rangers is now complete. Not accepted in the SPL, unlikely to gey into the First Division, so probably the Third division. Hopefully the sfl promote the losing play off finalists, and decide between Dunfermline and Dundee. It has been openly accepted that each club will now need another 1000 fans per game to make up the imbalance ( although unlikely this applies to ICT with County up ). Motherwell and Kilmarnock are now possible contenders for administration themselves, with the sky deal likely to falter and reduce the following season, then putting Aberdeen, Hearts, Dundee United, Dunfermline, St Mirren all likely to find very serious financial difficulty. We are not immune to this, as 2013/14 becomes very critical for all clubs. Rumours going round that Celtic are now going to have to sell players because of their wage bill, and champions league group stages are an absolute must for them now. After Celtic become champions this coming season they will face an exodus of players due to the lack of competition, and falling gates. Scotlands standing in the european configuretive will drop as poor results really effect, so money becomes even tighter, among those still being "competitive" at the top end of the spl ( 2nd to 4th ). If Rangers survive at all, it will be at least 4 seasons before the spl can see them again, and the way they are shedding players it might be more than 4 seasons. Where will the spl standing be in 3 years, and what clubs are in real danger. Money isnt everything and scotland will still have a top league, but what standard do you think it will be with players wages as low as £ 500 per week probably

Oddquine, Tom Smith was players player of the year, Adam MacLeod was coaches player of the year. Tom had a good first season as apprentice but not so good second year and was released. Adam got injured very early in the season and was released after one year, and went to Strathspey to get fit and playing again. At time of signing as under 19s, Tom, Chubbs, Adam and Jack Sutherland were the outstanding prospects - and none are at ICT now. Last I heard Tom and Jack were going to go to Uni, Chubbs had signed for Brora, and Adam is on trial at a league club.

Dear Mr Cameron,
CaleyD, unfortunately I think the old firm fans have increased a bit at TCS, as they had been getting the wing of the main stand more often, meaning the ICT fan numbers have been falling most dramatically. Also Rangers tend to get higher attendances than Celtic games, probably down to the Lennon factor. off topic but its suprising Celtic won anything with Rangers cheating and most refs seemingly biast against Celtic

Dundee or Dunfermline?
maybe they should look at who finished consistantly highest over the period which OldCo were at it. But where do you start 90s?
-
Dear Mr Cameron,
Kilmarnock reporting they will need another 1000 season tickets on top of last season to survive if Rangers go out of SPL, and Motherwell have said without Rangers in the SPL they will go into administration! Is this the tip of the iceberg. We would be ok next season, but who else would. Well done to Naismith and Whittaker
