Where is the £250k?
ahh but st johnstone may well be attracting more well known or percieved better players, but to recruit these players the wage demands will be far greater than ours, and unless they have a pot of gold, they will record losses, as £240k wont cover the difference in cost of attracting several of the players they did last season.

The OF SPL...the proof
Yet if Bayern Munich, AC Milan, Juventus or Barca were to ask us to play at home in a glamour friendly on that date any other spl club will be turning it down. This has all come about as the start of the season has been moved forward a few weeks, meaning the English and European clubs are looking for friendlies when our spl season has started. So all clubs are to miss out on decent opposition because of them trying to advance our game and trying to cater for potential bad winters. Dont see why the SPL dont just say to all clubs, season kicks off on xx/xx/xx but 3 weeks in you can all arrange a friendly to play at home against opposition of you choice. Would be easier than this "those teams playing at home" as if they cancel the home games the away teams are without a game too, arent they.

ICT squad 2012-13
With all the talk of where are our youth players getting into the first team, this last two seasons the under 19s have been twelfth out of twelve in the spl u19s league. When most of the spl clubs are only offering a few of their youth players contracts, why would we be offering more than the others, when our home breed were not as good as others as a team. Im sure the likes of Sheffield Utd and Wednesday are releasing better 19 year olds than we did, and thats the english 3rd tier. ICT management will be doing what is best for the ICT team, never seen a manager who does everything to fail

Brendan Rodgers and Paul Lambert
Have to say I am a little suprised about Brendan, thought Liverpool would end up going for thr big name, and thought it would be Fabio Capelo, but can see Liverpool improving but it will take two seasons for them to challenge top 4. As for Lambert, he has been a huge success down south. Expected him to go to bigger things, but maybe not Villa, former European champions, but they are a long long way from those days. Could be a wise move by Paul, as keeping Canaries flying above their post will be harder task next season, whereas Villa couldnt get worse. Can see him taking the EPLs second top English scorer with him, and then they will climb up the table. Two seasons, Villa top half, and even bigger clubs come calling

Brendan Rodgers and Paul Lambert
Seems they are off to bigger clubs. How do you think both will do at Liverpool and Aston Villa, and how will Swansea and Norwich get on after they leave.

Youth coaches are the be all and end all for age groups up to 17s. As was the 19s, train along side the first team, and with the first team on a daily basis, Terry will see each players progress. They also attend some of the youth matches, all be it Mo goes to much more of these games. Duncan Shearer will make his report and recommendations to Tel and Mo, but they take the final decision. Its my understanding that one of the boys released was getting an extension until he went into speak to Terry. What changed his mind only Terry and Mo will know, but saying that, we have to trust their judgement as they have made a career out of football and we haven't.

ICT squad 2012-13
Ten4 regarding the P & J recession answer being page 3 girls, they would be better with fresh ewe's every day, and the 'mutton dressed as lamb' page 7. When you think about it, we look like we are going to have another rebuilding job ahead of us, Tansey, Tade, Hayes and not forgetting Proc. But we are then going to give new players the chance to impress and better their predesessors. Most seem upset at Tade leaving, 9 goal hitman, yet most of us think he should have scored 20 plus with the chances he had last season. Tansey came with a glowing reputation and a nose for goals, which he only partly showed although he was fairly decent. Jonny will be missed, but he can be hot and cold. All these players are taking a chance, as the new team they are going to may take ages and ages to gel, as they too are having wholesale changes. The bottom 10 are having massive changes this summer, and the promoted one has lost 3 regulars already. We are all in the same boat as it were, and who knows what will happen, Jonny gets injured early on, Tade continues to fluff when he has time to think, Hibs struggle again, Dons continue to dazzle under Pa Broon, Midden lost their legend and star Hasselbank, Killie continue to pass pass pass misplace pass, Hearts drop their good players, St J rebuild and cant gel, Arabs lose our ex trialist and others and also shop in England div2, Well crash and burn after Champs league July elimination, and Rangers are taken to task by FIFA nolikey their non footie court involvement. Which leaves Celtic at the top and County in their caravans

What I understand is that Martin Laing is the only one of the older under 19s squad who has been told they want to keep him. Chubbs, Tom Smith, Jack Sutherland and Calum Dingwall were each told they are no longer required. As it stood these were the only guys left who were going to be too old for the under 19s if the age group were to be continued next season, so their contracts were due to run out anyway. Suprise, yes, as they were all decent players in my opinion, but its not my opinion that counts for those players. The younger under 19s from the past season would have had another year anyway, and Kyle White, and Liam Polworth are also younger age as they were pulled into the 19s when they were 16 years old. However, in my opinion, the players who could have or will make it are, Liam Polworth, Ryan Christie, Chubbs and Jack Sutherland. Unfortunately the one who got away in my opinion was Adam MacLeod, who was such a natural goal scorer, and from just about anywhere on the park. Unfortunately he picked up a really serious injury and only managed a few games in his under 19 season before they let him go. Spoke to him last week, and he was talking about Strathspey Thistle. When he signed for them he hadnt even heard of them, set up 3 goals in his first two games coming on a sub up front, but they then started to play him at left back and right back because he was a better striker of the ball and more accrurate than the rest of the team. It was only around Feburary they started playing him further forward, but as a winger, and played in each game they won. It was only towards ther end of the season he started getting his confidence back. Duncan Shearer thought he was one of the most talented youth players he had seen, but Adam was let go before Duncan became the under 19s boss. Anyway, I would hope to see Liam Polworth push himself into the first team this season coming, well here's hoping

Londons UK Olympics
How does folk feel about the Olympics taking place over the border. Think they have been such a waste of money, as everthing cost so much more than what was projected, unlike the Commonwealth games which are being organised on budget ( at the moment ). Dont get me wrong, I do like to watch, but why oh why did we need to bid for these games when the costs drain the country of cash. I have through my work met about 12 people working on the London Olympics, ie full time employees benefiting out of the London games, and eh none of them were from the UK. Dutch, Spanish, Canadian, aMerican, Brazilian and a Sudanese guy. Are we really going to benefit from this open cheque book, and before anyone thinks its just the Olympics, I wouldnt have had the Commonwealth games either, it just seems the Scottish government has kept the costs a bit more realistic in the pricing, maybe a lesson learnt from the Edinburgh trams nightmare

Pre season fixtures
Mens games are Spain, Japan, Honduras and Morocco, but it would be interesting for the womens teams games USA, France, Colombia and PDR Korea ( North I think ). After that first weekend Glasgow only has two more games so Scotlands participation as part of the UK London olympics are almost over in the weekend before the official opening ceremony. So much for Scotland benefiting out of the Olympics. Have to say I didnt want them here ( London ) in the first place, so can I have my Tax money back please. Would have helped the Country out not having these overpriced preparations.

Scotland v usa
Dont think that with a full squad we would have been beaten by so much last night. Levein aint that bad, but he hasnt helped himself with comments and selections. However I do feel we wont be far away from qualifying for the world cup and maybe get a play off place. By the way that was a very very decent USA side last night, played in the Barca style for the first 70 minutes as they hunted our players down right from the start

Are you worried ? - I feckin am
Jesus, take the stanley knife and sleeping tablets out of the house. Look at how many players are getting released throughout the country, that is because of most clubs struggle to survive the recession. That will also mean their are lots of decent players out there looking for clubs and the chance to be in the shop window. Its too early to tell, but St Mirren losing lots of players, St J having to completely rebuild with the two successful strikers gone aswell, Hibs and Hearts wont be playing like Real Madrid, the dandy dons are cutting back and have Grandpa Broon in charge who has only had one successful season as a club manager, Killie have problems - like their brand of footie - panic if the opposition presses them in their own half, Rangers Newco under 20s, and Arabs cutting back wont be as strong, Motherwell will still be top 6 easily, Celtic have the league sewn up by October, and then their is the caravan dwellers. ICT will be fine. I predict an 8th spot

Being able to afford a youth set up is all about faith, hoping to unearth an absolute gem. Thats the way small clubs plied their trade in the past, but now the big clubs scouting network is so proactive, you are liable to lose these gems to the likes of Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal etc etc before they even get near the first team. You hear of these clubs after players of 13, 14, 15 and 16 thinking they can improve their development with their higher regarded higher paid youth coaches, but it will starve the smaller clubs of that big pay day, as they only pay towards the small clubs time and effort in coaching the youngster. You may get £100k for a player worth £1-2m a couple of years later, although finding that gem might be one per generation. Consider this, we have 11 non highlander under 20s in a squad of 16-17, but 4 or 5 go on to our first team, would we consider that better than all highlanders, 1 getting to first team but we get relegated. Terry and Mo will be doing what they think is best for the clubs future, as to bring our club down will ruin their career, they are here to do everything to succeed,

As far as i know Liam Polworth would still have been eligable for the 19s this season. What it does do this new u20s league, it makes it much harder for the u17s to get picked for an apprenticeship, and makes it more costly for the club. Say the 17 year olds are on £100 a week ( guessing ), 18s would be on £120, so 19 years old players would have to be on more. Its already hard for the young lads going up a one years age, then into the 17s a two year age gap, now the 20s will have a three year age gap. Would expect ICT to just pick 3 or 4 to go up from the u17s this year

Rangers go into administration
League has been corrupt for years, just because this is out in the open, its big news. Think about it, refs baffling decisions, Dundee Utd v Roma euopean cup semi, Rangers v Marseilles in the first champions league, etc etc. Celtic and Rangers favoritism over the years, sfa keeping highland clubs out of the league for years, etc etc. Nothing new, nothing changes!
