  1. That may be the case as far as the teams are concerned. However, replica strips are a much needed source of income and quality counts in that regard.
  2. Cammy is a very good 'keeper generally but I still think he is the second best custodian at our disposal. Certainly the less experienced. I have said it before, decent as Cammy is, if Ridgers is fully fit and I assume he is, he would be my first choice for the vital games ahead.
  3. We don't need to catch Partick. We are already ahead of them with a game in hand and we are perfectly capable of staying ahead and besting them over two legs in the play offs. However, to do that we need to display the attitude and commitment we did for the first half hour yesterday and not the complacency we showed for the remaining hour.
  4. Perhaps more importantly, finishing third rather than fourth would give us home advantage in the second leg of the first play off tie which could be crucial.
  5. The first third of the game epitomised about a third of our season. Sadly, the remaining two thirds of the game summed up the other two thirds of our season which is why we long ago dropped out of the race for the title and why there remain lingering doubts about Billy Dodds as head coach.
  6. Disappointing. We have a dominant start to the game and create a well deserved 2 goal lead playing some of our best football of the season. Then, instead of continuing to do what got us there, we decide to sit back and cruise through the rest of the game in third gear. Can someone please tell Billy Dodds that we are not good enough to decide to take it easy against anyone, far less a team fighting for their lives at the foot of the table. We were fortunate today that Raith Rovers lost and we will almost certainly be in the play offs but we have almost certainly blown our chance of overhauling Arbroath and giving an easier passage through the play offs. We can't afford to indulge in such a level of complacency again between now and the end of the season, whenever that may be.
  7. I would like to see him stay but, being realistic, I think that is only likely if we gain promotion this season.
  8. Partick's narrow and perhaps ill deserved win at Palmerston is a bit of a blow. All the more incentive to win tomorrow and restore our advantage over them.
  9. Very good news indeed. Roddy could make a big difference in the final league games and hopefully the play offs.
  10. HT; Ayr 0, ICT 2 FT; Ayr 1, ICT 3 ICT; Sutherland Ayr; Ashford Crowd;1,538
  11. Raith's loss this evening in the Fife derby is a major boost to our hopes of a play off place. We could, to all intents and purposes, make it a decisive boost if we can continue our winning run on Saturday. However, Ayr will be dangerous opponents and even more determined to maintain or increase that now frightenly narrow gap between them and the Pars for the relegation play off place. We will need to mstch them for motivation and determination as well as skill and tactics. A big game and a strong performance required both from the team and the band of fans making the long trip to the Ayrshire seaside. The latter is guaranteed, let's hope that the players and coaches are equally up to the task.
  12. The Jaggies on fire as usual!
  13. Although some of that team will have lost a yard or too of pace !
  14. Ayr will need to win at least one more game and possibly more. They will certainly be well motivated and still in decent form under their new manager. We will have to match them for commitment to return home with all three points.
  15. Incidentally, good to see two of our better home strips.
  16. Thanks for posting that. I will be purchasing a couple of tickets for such a worthy cause and should I be successful will return the medal to Paul who deserves still to own it as much for this gesture as for his considerable contribution to winning our first national title. I well remember the trophy presentation which was only slightly dampened by being thrashed at home by Forfar on the final day of the season. However, the league was well won long before then. Paul was a fine player who I imagine would have been close to Sergei Baltacha from their time together at St Johnstone.
  17. I have little regard for Celtic or their often disgracefully behaved fans but I am not sure that it's accurate to say that they are 'just the same'. As abhorrent as Celtic fans can be, at least the bottles that you photographed remained in the stands and intact and only one set of fans went on the rampage and devastated a city centre when their team lost a European final.
  18. I agree. Some limited compensation for what we have to endure when they visit. Although, even that is negated by the cost of additional policing and stewarding and, far too of, repairing vandalism.
  19. There are very few advantages of being in the Championship but not having to endure the toxicity that comes with playing either one of the Ugly Sisters is, without doubt, one of them.
  20. Sadly, I fear that you are right. Not being facetious but it might help if Buckfast and other fortified wines were sold in plastic containers.
  21. Two instances of broken glass being scattered on the pitch yesterday which risked causing significant injury to players of both sides. We all know that the Scottish football authorities are always loath to take any action against either member of the Old Firm but surely time now for an appropriate sanction. In my view the SFA and/or the SPFL need to sanction The Rangers with at least the first two home league games of next season being played behind closed doors.
  22. I am very much hoping that Raith's victory in the Challenge Cup final will, in a few weeks, prove a little consolation for missing out on the play offs. The final was a decent enough game. However, I don't think that a national final should ever be played on a synthetic surface where there are other venues with sufficient capacity and in a reasonably neutral location with a grass pitch available.
  23. Poor cup form which few of us will now care too much about if we can gain promotion.
