  1. I don't believe that the relegation issue is a two horse race. I can see Hamilton, St Mirren and even Killie being involved at the sharp end of the season. As far as our prospects are concerned, interesting to see that a majority now believe we can escape the drop. Compare that with attitudes just a week ago !
  2. Butcher does have a mixed record and his performance at Brentford together with the attitude towards him of the Brentford fans is a concern. Malpas too does not have a great record as a manager. However the combination of Butcher as manager and Malpas as assistant does seem to have been a success at Motherwell who were very strapped for funds at that time. I'm also very encouraged by what he's said about the job in hand. He certainl;y talks a better game than Brwster ! Whether he would have been our personal choice or not he's now the manager and it's the duty of all true fans to get behind him and the team during the difficult times ahead.
  3. In my view, it's an advatage to ICT, if anything, that Butcher keeps his part time position with Scotland.
  4. Not sure about Butcher he did well enough at Fir Park but all his other managerial positions, particularly the last two, have ended in failure.
  5. I suspect that's it's still little more than speculation as far as the media is concerned.
  6. He's far from the finished article at this level but he does have the potential.
  7. He was far from the last decent coach to part company with that particular regime.
  8. I'm sure that's right. If Hearts had been able to make us a decent offer we would have taken it.
  9. Despite the result it sounds like a very heartening performance.
  10. My preference would be; Knox Robertson Butcher That said, assuming Butcher can devote the lion's share of his time to the club, all are worthwhile candidates.
  11. Like Chis Sutton he may have the potential to become a good manager but right now we need someone who has been over the course.
  12. To be fair, it's quite a thought for those with family uprooting children from school and the like for what might be quite a short tenure although the six figure salary on offer must be some sort of incentive.
  13. Ian did do well at Peterhead and was very harshly treated but he is untested at SPL level and would be too much of a risk in our current situation.
  14. Like him or loath him McCall could probably do a job for us.
  15. If the rumours about Brewster's management style are even half true then the mere fact that he's gone should be inspiration enough.
  16. I've got a feeling that Dragan might just be right about the new manager not featuring in the list of candidates in the poll.
  17. Dods played against Dundee United and played well at that. Black will want to impress his new manager and is potentially our best player. Every reason why he should play tomorrow.
  18. Wont be easy but Killie are one of the few SPL clubs we seem capable of beating at present.
  19. The five games post split could be absolutely crucial if we're still in touch by then.
  20. I should have clarified on my earlier post, which came from BBC Scotland in Glasgow... To them... the term "Down South" means Engerland.... Good, Colin Calderwood it is then ! Did someone not say that Terry Butcher is based in the South of England now? Looks like we will be speculating until next week. Ah but isn't uninformed speculation such fun !

  22. Robbo's managerial career has had mixed fortunes but he's far from the worst candidate out there and his knowledge of ICT and our current squad might just give him an edge over someone else who would have to spend some time familiarising himself with the set up.
  23. Give them credit for acting relatively quickly following Brewster's dismissal.
  24. I can see us getting what would be a very welcome point.
  25. I'd like to think the candiadate being interviewed "down south" is Colin Calderwood.
