  1. Another factor is that he's at an age where, as a forward, he may not hve many more new contracts to look forward to which might make money more of a factor than it was for the likes of Ian Black who, all else being equal, might have another 12 -15 years in the game in which to maximise his incom.
  2. Thankfully, they are a bit out of my domestic territory.
  3. Mixu Paatelainen was my hope as Brewster's replacement last year, not that I haven't been 100% behind Charlie since his appointment. He is a man with international experience as well as experience at the top level in a numberof domestic leagues. What he has acheived at Central Park with very limited resourses indeed shows that he has the seeds of coaching ability as well. It will be a refreshing change to sit back and watch the merry go round spin for once without being too fearful that our own coaching team will become involved.
  4. If Craig has anything like the sort of season he had last year he will be much sought after and we may struggle to keep him.
  5. Thank you Johnboy, that was very useful.
  6. I doubt if there will be a place on the bench for both McSwegan and Wyness especially as the SPL rules dictate that we should have two under 21 players in the 18.
  7. I'm thinking about buying a new Renault Grand Espace. I am aware that there have been reliability issues with earlier models. Does anyone have any expierence of owning this vehicle and/or any comments on the issue of reliability ?
  8. I tend to agree that the A96 is an even more frustrating dive than the A9.
  9. Dods can't sign a pre contract agreement until january.
  10. Maybe the Teutonic era was just one long mass nightmare from which we are now slowly awakening.
  11. I fear that there might be a slightly more rocky year ahead for us in tems of finances this year. Last financal year we posted a modest profit but income included a one off payment of almost £250,000 compensation from Dundee United as well as £170,000 from being fortunate enough to feature in consecutive live SKY Scottish Cup ties. In addition the club earned prize money for acheiving our record highest league placing. On top of that we enjoyed record season ticket sales and record average home crowds. This year, while television income has increased, season ticket sales are down on last year and it now looks likely that average attendances wil be two or three hundred less than last season. Given the very competitive nature of the league this season we may well finish several places below where we ended up last year thereby reducing income from prize money. All this at a time when the club are rightly offering key players signifigantly enhanced contracts means that unless we reach the Scottish Cup final we are likely to post a six figure loss in the current financial year. That in itself wouldn't represent a disaster but couldn't be sustained for very many seasons without becoming a problem. At the risk of sounding like the honouable member for Dunfermline East, fiscal prudence remains an absolute priority.
  12. Whille there is no doubt that televsion is responsible for changing the culture of all league football taking place at 3pm on a sturday afternoon the fact is that ICT would struggle to maintain full time football including our youth team without the £800,000 or so we are guaranteed each financial year from various media contracts. It seems that Setanta and the disruptution they pay to dictate are a necessary evil.
  13. One win and one defeat would be better.
  14. Did anyone really belive that Dods was anything other than fully committed despite the probabilit that he'll leave at the end of the season ? Certainly not me, he's always ben a whole hearted player for us.
  15. To be fair, we were on the wrong end of a very similar scoreline against Hearts ourselves and it seems, by all accounts, that neither score was a very fair reflection of the play.
  16. There is a continuing problem with the fact that off field "professionalism" in many respects has failed to keep pace with on field progress. I must say that our chef executive seems to keep a very low profile indeed.
