  1. The most important thing is John Hughes picks who he would like, Russell Latapy or Owen Coyle both worked alongside him in the past....
  2. Alex Caldwell (steve paterson), Duncan Shearer (Steve Paterson), Donald Park( John Robertson), Malky Thomson( Craig Brewster), Maurice Malpas (Terry Butcher), Theres a couple more but im struggling to think who. Who was Assistant when Charlie was in charge?
  3. I think they'll beat Costa Rica pretty comfortably, and i don't mean by a few goals but i just think England are strong enough to overcome them. Italy and Uruguay is another matter though, a great group to watch. I had a feeling Uruguay would do well in the summer despite struggling to qualify and with them in the same group as Italy who aren't really that great at the moment and England i think it'll be a tough group to get out of. I predict... England + Uruguay to qualify (too tight to decide who tops the group) Italy Costa Rica
  4. http://www.nononsensefootball.com/hughes-leaves-hartlepool/ Who cares about the Hartlepool job, They were doing rubbish when he took over and he couldn't manager to steer them away from relegation. Butcher took over half way through the season and got us relegated, why give a manager 6 months? Its clubs like that who will always struggle to be as stable as teams like ICT.
  5. John Hughes, is he really any better than John Robertson? I'd probably rather the latter actually. My reason for not taking Robbo back was just because i thought there would be bigger names in the hat. He must be feeling he'll never get the ICT job again after this appointment. I keep laughing and thinking its a bit weird, but i'm still thinking its not THAT bad.
  6. Or bonfire night when your expecting one last massive boom as you know its coming to the end and then.... is that it?
  7. Thats crazy! Maybe we will give Rice a 25k signing on fee....
  8. Good signings made by Yogi at Falkirk? kasper schmeichel, tim krul, anthony stokes all on loan. Michael Higdon from England, anyone else?
  9. Yeah c'mon lets get behind him. He did do well with Falkirk, I hated playing them under Hughes and they have been rotten since he left. I don't care about his reign at Hartlepool as most managers seem to struggle in the lower leagues of English football. Can we go back to hating Hartley now?
  10. ignore that, the stories are flooding in now....oh well.
  11. Anyone got any news links on it being John Hughes or anything recent linking him to the job properly? Can't seem to find anything myself. I wasn't totally against Hughes when all of this started so its not THAT bad but If its not Hartley then the only candidates that are gonna make me happy would be Owen Coyle, Paul Sturrock and Henrik Larsson and even with Larsson i only really want him for fun.
  12. Surely you can't be suggesting that Hislop was a better striker than Wyness?!! Of course not but leading upto our first division winning season Hislop was a great striker for us and more than capable of replacing Wyness.
  13. Hartley would have been my choice but it's not to be -I'm guessing it's the big mouth from Killie which is grim . I really don't want Shiels now, I'll obviously back him all the way if he gets the job and there was a brief spell of 10 minutes when i wanted him but now my heart is kinda set on Hartley so if we get anyone else unless its a major shock i'll be quite dissapointed.
  14. Ok so this has been done a number of times over the years but i was just thinking about our current squad and how most of them would be good enough for our best 11 ever. Before i have been sentimental and had players there because they are ICT Legends, for example Charlie Christie, Jim Calder, Bobby Mann, Ross Tokely to name a few. But who at their peak would truly get into the All time ICT first 11. This is my attempt but i know its a tough one and i'll no doubt miss someone. Goalkeeper - Brown - Not the greatest at the moment but at the time he was incredibly, you've got to remember it was Celtic that stole him from us. Ahead of Ryan Esson. Right Back - Only person to EVER challenge this would be Raven so for that it goes to Ross Tokely. Left Back - This is tough, Hasting and Golabek were great servants but would they be able to compete in a team thats 2nd in the SPFL? Graeme Shinnie Center Backs - Darren Dods and Gary Warren. Bobby Mann and Josh Meekings as subs Midfield Centers - Ian Black and Richie Foran, My mind has actually went blank but i think i might have got it correct..... Left Winger - Barry Robson Right Winger - Tough one again between Barry Wilson and Johnny Hayes, i think i was more entertained by Hayes so i'm going for him. Strikers - Wyness and Rooney, I've chosen Wyness over Mckay because i really do think in his first division seasons he was our greatest ever striker, lets not forget about his return because we all know he wasn't the same player then. If we had Wyness in his prime in the SPL with a great midfield like we have today he would have stuck them away no doubt about it! Rooney or Mckay was another tough one, Rooney took more penalties and scored a lot to make him seem like a great goal scorer but i still feel like he shades it slightly. so overall Brown Tokely Warren Dods Shinnie Hayes Black Foran Robson Wyness Rooney Now after everyone else chooses their 11 i'm guarenteed to be persuaded and make a few changes im sure. But at first go that's who i think is the greatest ever ICT 11
  15. I'd probably accept 500k for Mckay if he wanted to move on, its a brilliant turnover in money afterall and i wouldn't want to stand in his way of improving his career. We have always found a better striker out there. Stewart > Wyness > Ritchie > Hislop > Bingham > Dargo > Rooney > Mckay. All strikers that done an excellent job for us at crucial times and somewhat irreplaceable but we managed it.
  16. We may have to beat one or two of them at some point. lets get them out of the way early. No thanks, lets get the easy teams out of the way first and meet the tougher teams at the last hurdle. Getting to the semi and getting beat by Celtic is better than getting to the 4th round and getting beat by Celtic.
  17. I'd love Owen Coyle more than anyone, But i'd be delighted with Paul Hartley.
  18. Barnsley manager has now been sacked after less than a year in the job. Butcher offski?
  19. I'm delighted at the thought of Hartley. Didn't really have a favorite for the job so was never really going to be dissapointed though. I know why it looks like it'll be him though. He's got the championship experience we need to beat Morton on sat!
  20. That's not what box-to-box midfielders are. The term box-to-box midfielder refers to players who possess good mobility and are skilled at both defending and attacking. Such footballers are therefore useful in both their own and their opponents penalty boxes. Or so Wiki believes.
  21. If we happen to be beating hibs at Easter road I might be partial to some caley away with terry and mo.
  22. I thought this too.
  23. Remember Tom, don't think he was quite an ICT youth player though, thought he was brought in for back up to the first team. I always enjoy finding out where all our old players end up playing.
  24. Mulgrew, Whittaker and Wallace are better left backs. Shinnie is still young though and if he continues in the way he is going I have no doubt he'll get his chance.
  25. I'm completely over this now, last season i hated the fact we played at Easter Road but it doesn't phase me now, i know we are the better team and will come out on top regardless. If we got Celtic, Rangers or even Partick in a cup final and it was played at Hampden would you be annoyed because its only a couple miles for each of those clubs?
