Synthetic surface and club marketing
Noticed from that link that the league table on the official Killie site shows them having finished 7th instead of their actual 9th, and ICT 6th instead of 5th!

Phil Neal? Scored 38 for Liverpool (but missed 13 as well).- The world cup!
Scotland haven't had many reds in friendlies either. In the last 30 years I think the only one was 1995, John Spencer in Japan (2 yellows in the 1st half, game ended 0-0). Prior to that it was Willie Johnston in Argentina 1977 (1-1) unless you class the British Championship as friendlies - Joe Jordan got one in a 2-0 defeat in Wales in 1981.- Summer transfer targets
Leaving Hamilton to sign for Hearts, according to some reports.- Manager Rankings
Aye, it's because their method looks at the last 52 weeks results which for him were excellent until about December. He'll obviously slide further as those good results in the top league get replaced by lower value games in a lower division.- Manager Rankings
I stumbled across this site, which tries to rank all managers who have been active in the last year. John Hughes is apparently the 655th best manager in the world, which places him lower than anyone else who managed in the Premiership in 13/14. http://www.coachworldranking.com/ranking-clubs/wd/23/yr/2014/index/0 Obviously you can't take these things at all seriously, and they adopt a purely results based methodology, therefore ignoring financial resources available etc. The formula is fairly similar to the FIFA national team rankings, and is outlined here if anyone who is curious: http://www.coachworldranking.com/faq/how-is-the-football-coach-world-ranking-calculated.aspx One thing it has certainly got right is that Terry Butcher's stock has plummeted over the last 6 months!- Is this the perfect penalty
In the League Cup final didn't Watkins apply that technique for a long range shot? He does it and gets laughed at, Neymar does it and everyone thinks he's a genius, how is that fair?- The world cup!
Nobody should be too surprised if Qatar win it!- Bill starts for NI
Did he do anything of note during the game? I see he didn't accept our contract extension offer before he went away.- The world cup!
Its Uruguay v N. Ireland late tonight, with Billy Mckay likely to feature.- Summer transfer targets
There will be 3 Scott Browns in our league next season (Celtic, St J, Aberdeen).- Free kick stats
In the League Cup final were any of the free kicks from the edge of the box even within 5 yards of the target?!- The world cup!
I was looking at the FIFA rankings, and the highest ranked teams not to qualify for Brazil are Ukraine (17th) and Scotland (22nd). The lowest ranked of the 32 to be there are Australia (59th).- The Butcher Files
So maybe Ren should have called this thread "The Ex Files". I can recall a newspaper article about Terry making reference to how disappointed he was not to make it onto Ipswich's shortlist in 2012.- ButcherWatch
Comments from Kevin Thomson on being released today: "I'm disappointed, everyone knows how much I love the club. Unfortunately the manager has a different opinion from a lot of other people" "It's not a surprise [to be leaving]. That's only natural with the way he's been with me over the last six or seven months since he came in." And a dig from McPake as well : "I'm just disappointed I never got the chance to help the club stay in the division. I've been fit for 10 weeks and I could have contributed."- Hibs Players
From STV: "the bulk of the squad, including Kevin Thomson and James McPake, have been told they are not going to be retained. All three goalkeepers Ben Williams, Sean Murdoch and Paul Grant have been told they will not get new contracts, along with Alan Maybury, Bradley Donaldson, Paul Cairney, Tom Taiwo, David Gold, Dean Horribine, McPake and Thomson."- ButcherWatch
OK, we got Wales and Australia. India is another one. I could twist the question to : Is there any other country in the world where the only top flight team to play any home games in the capital city actually comes from a different city altogether? But that would be a bit convoluted, even for me. (Celtic will be using Murrayfield for Euro qualifiers)- ButcherWatch

Petrie's statement seems to suggest that Terry is still the man. "Leeann Dempster has already been appointed as chief executive to lead the club forward. She will join us in the next few days. Leeann achieved sporting success at Motherwell and will work closely with Terry Butcher as the club begins the task of assembling a competitive squad for next season."- ButcherWatch

When Petrie was awarding Butcher his contract, I wonder if they included clauses to protect Hibs in the event of relegation (eg automatic drop in salary, or dismissal with minimal pay-off) as it all would have seemed such a remote prospect at the time? There's no escaping the fact that Butcher has done a godawful job as manager and fully deserves the sack, but Hibs will also have to consider that he achieved an instant bounce-back with ICT. - Is this the perfect penalty
